well i have moved, for real, i lived with my husband of 25 years only 3 miles from my mother and father.
it seems that most of the witnesses they preferred to associate with, have all been disfellowshipped or divorced, or separated.
they have not called me or tried to visit me for over 2 years.

You are among friends here...... thanks for sharing your story. Sounds to me like you and your husband have made the right choice. It's like the saying goes, "Beating a dead horse". There comes a time when a person has to let go.... and move on with your life with those who accept and love you for who you are.

i am an addict.
and that is one good reason to back off some.
but the overriding reason is that my nerves have been frayed lately by the actions of a hidden 'stalker', a jw who is hiding behind a cyber-curtain.

i've been absent from this board from some time, as i've been through alot the past few months.
firstly, my mother passed away after complications from her surgery.
so i've lost my entire family since 1999. i'm an only child.

NEVER would I be angry w/anyone who chose to go back. That is their business and life to make that decision.
I feel you are going back with your eyes wide open and your mind also. That is the right attitude and healthy and smart!!! May you and your son have abundant peace and happiness in your life together. Please accept my sympathies. You have under gone a lot of pain in your life.

the july/august issue has an article about the borg in it called "trapped in the watchtower.

I get the jitters when I hear about these religions...... Perhaps cause I just finished reading "Seductive Poison" by Deborah Layton. She made it out of the Peoples' Temple back in the ' 70s before the mass suicide. It is an excellent read and I remember you like to read books.
This cult leader, Jim Jones, was at the time head of a US department and was close friends w/other political figures and former first lady Rosalyn Carter. He entrapped people by building a fear in them for the CIA and FBI. The followers truly felt that they were being watched by these groups all the time - ready to be arrested and put in prison. They were paranoid to the point of putting all their trust in Jim Jones. Ms. Layton and another moved monies overseas so J. Jones lived the high life while his followers literally worked themselves close to death. Even children were over worked and were punished inhumanely. They lived far inland in the country of Guyana.
What was interesting also in the book was this: She pointed out how we can become ensnared not only by religious fronts but also by self help groups. We have to be very careful.

still, out here in the 'real life', we have rules regarding civil conduct that even jehovah's witnesses must abide by to keep their 'privilages' here.

i was just reading a thread about the new 'exciting' format for the watchtower and how there will be a jw only edition.
add to this what i believe is the new rule that da'd and df'd people are not allowed to receive the magazines unless they attend meetings.
this all got me thinking.... .

since leaving mom and i have not spoken very often, since i left in 2001. i ended up calling her today, because i have an uncle in texas where the flooding is at, and i lost his number.
he is doing ok, and their home did not get flooded.
it did come up to the porch, but then went down.

i have found that at every assembly being circuit, district or one day, they are always, always in deficit, why is this, at the last circuit assembly they said that it cost 6,000 for electicity for two days, and that to me was just embarrassing, i asked the sister next to me if what i heard was correct, and yes she said in debt for the weekend because of electricity.. another thing is the soliciting of property from older ones, i know that they do this with anyone that has property (especially older ones that have no heirs).
to leave their assets to the wts, because the governments will take it if you die.
but also what they can leave to the wts would be appreciated if they have family heirs left, i have seen this soliciting in the wt mags on occastions.. what is you're experience if any on this.. cheers.
This is one of the reasons I decided to make my exit. When I came in back in 1970, they were never asking for $. In the '90s it became common place for them to read letters from the Society begging for money to complete the Patterson project.
My husband got so p***** off w/this constant barage that he left also. I had already stopped going.
Others will be posting on this, so be patient. I haven't been to a CA or DA for 14 years, but I've heard about what you are saying. About the supposed deficits.
