Baptism at age 11 next Saturday

i just learned that one of my grandsons (whom i've never met) will be baptized on saturday.

he will be twelve in november.

what's happening within the publishing company to inspire this sort of thing?

That's not unusual. When my husband was a MS many years ago, the CO encouraged the brothers at the MS/Elders' mtg. with him that parents should direct their children toward the goal of baptism by age 10. Yes! 10.

My husband did not agree. And I'm sure there were others also that didn't, but were not as outspoken as he.

From what I've read here at the forum by those who still attend the mtgs. and assemblies, this is being done all over.

Sad isn't it? How can a 10 year old make that sort of decision? And if they get involved w/"the world" you know the consequences. It sets them up for a horrible childhood - they still have to go to mtgs. and then be shunned by former friends. Kids are going to make mistakes growing into adulthood. With this organization, one is not allowed to have questions (which young people do as they mature)..... Hopefully your grandson will be all right.

During the day I sleep. Come alive at night. I put my laptop on a dumpster and when business is slow I post.......

Life lost

i have previously posted on the subject of finding people who could help me get some testimonials from experienced jws who have been shunned by friends and family.

this was my way of getting my daughter to wake up to the realities of what is going on with the organization she is associated with.

much to my sadness, i have been notified by her husband that she died this morning of lung cancer.

FLUFF: Richie's Beach Trip Photos

i went to the beach last weekend, and it was a rather enjoyable time.

naturally i took tons of pictures, and went with friends who have the same inclination.. so, for your viewing pleasure and enjoyment, here's richie's beach trip.. driving down took about 4 hours, and after about 2, we had listened to every song we've ever liked, and played every road game we could remember.. .

after arriving, we got straight to the business of enjoying ourselves, and cameras stayed packed for the duration of the evening.

I heard it has been EXTREMELY DRY in N. Carolina. Is that true? I'm talking drought. Grass drying up and dying and blowing away in the Charleston area?

just reading another thread, and it made me think of a question i could never answer as a jw.

how is it that when your hall wants to build, you recieve the "loan" from the society, but then you have to pay the loan back with intrest??!!.

You are correct. The Society doesn't hold title or deed to the local congregations property or building. This is for a very specific reason: if somebody gets hurt on that property, they can only sue the local congregation, not the WTB&TS.

as promised here is all of the info regarding what has been going on.

per the last jc with the elders i realized that all i had done was buy time.

they felt that we should be df'ed right on the spot, but because i made a plea to wait for a letter coming back from the wts they decided to hold on taking such action.
