ok we all have stories of "window-cleaners" but some of us had other kinds of work - that you got payed for (slave labor excepted).
so what kinds of things have you done?
what did you enjoy?

i will admit, i act like a kid when i get fireworks.
new years and 4th of july are my favorite holidays.
you get to drink and blow stuff up.
I only do sparklers..... but, my son and son in law (one year) did get drunk and shot off everything. My son had bought a trunk load of fireworks in the south bigdreaux. hee heeeeee!
They were shooting stuff off and giving "praise" to every president and some first ladies and other non presidents. I can't repeat here what they were saying.... anyway the next day they had a lot of paper to pick up after they sobered up.
It is fun dreaux. Just don't lose a body part though.

i have been bombarded all week about going and have been seriously thinking about it.. i guess i am more curious about its new location this year more than anything.. should i go?.
smoky.
There are quite a few at the U in DeKalb this year...not going though. Know of someone who went there. About 5000 in attendance and the a/c worked good. Otherwise it was the usual drone. But if you have to/want to go; just saying.
ever since the race track they have been unable to keep a location.
I thought the Hawthorne Race Track was one of the worst - Didn't a sister "own" that location? Couldn't see a dang thing through the dirty window and it was just plain dirty and smelly. Before that had them at the White Sox stadium in Chicago. I remember the bus rides down there. ARGH! And the outdoor toilets and long lines. Another ARGH! Then Cicero, Illinois w/the bullet holes in the hotel windows. Yikes! Before these sites they were held at the Milwaukee County Stadium (now Miller Park Stadium)for years. Then good old Madison, Wisconsin. But they haven't had any there for years. Now the district I would be in goes to DeKalb. Before that it was Rockford, Illinois. Juni ( is this more info than you wanted? Sorry.)

we all get junk mail, or applications for credit cards we don't want or even asked for.
i got six applications in the mail today.
i've phoned these numbskulls before and told them to stop sending me this stuff, as i don't want their credit cards.
Definitely! Capitol One is THE biggest junk mailer.

I never thought of that Mary!!! god that is good.
Had you already thought of it poppers?
Well I'm going to do that, but I don't have any WT stuff. I need some ideas .... hopefully someone will post Mary. Ah I know. A bunch of dead earwigs. Here's a pic of one of these lovelies. They're all over here where I live. A beautiful Asian import.

Is it only me seeing our Blondie getting younger???
Sorry to hijack a hijacked thread, but I just had to say...........................god I feel like such a trouble maker tonight......
did you ever enjoy serving in this way or did you view it more as, "it's the thing that's encouraged, so that's what i'll do"?.
im currently a ms and pioneer(will shed this one immediately) and before i ever were appointed these, i always wanted to.
i thought it was a pretty cool thing for someone my age to be instructing the congo, and to have so many look up to you.
Happy Birthday RF! Have a good one!
My husband was a MS shortly after we were baptized as there was a shortage of help. He only liked it because it gave him an excuse not to be sitting all the time. LOL Also, just made his stay a little more interesting he said.
Myself as a pioneer - I did not want any glory from anyone. I did it because I felt like I should do more for Jehovah - you know all the talks about the brothers who had to cross alligator infested waters blah, blah, blah... well I felt I should be doing more for God. It came from my heart. Yeah, I know. It sounds self righteous, but that was how it was. Seemed like I felt that I had to PROVE my sincerity by my works. Having 4 kids at the time, it was a lot of planning and work.

Welcome slmdf to the forum!
I wish there would've been more like you in the cong. I belonged. Those who had true empathy didn't last long. The others may have felt that they were being shown a thing or two in how to do it right. That does not go over too well.
i was first contacted by the jws in 1968 when i was pg w/our first son.
i bought the little blue book "the truth that leads to everlasting life" for 25 cents.
found it interesting, but put it away because i was busy after our son's birth and i didn't think my husband would want to get into religious material as we had left the methodist church because they were always crying for $.. jump ahead to 1970. husband was home which was unusual because he normally worked saturdays.
hi bigdreaux! how ya doin?
no offense juni, but, that woman was dopey for sitting there like an idiot. the older women at my old hall were firecrackers. piss them off and watch out. lol i kinda liked them
must be that hot cajun food down there guy! Sister Anna was very meek and soft spoken. We had other ones that cracked the whip. Especially at the literature counter.... my husband (who has a way w/the women) would just humor them along. No comments bronzefist. LMAO!!
Thank you antiChrist for your thoughts. You are right..... it is sad.
AND LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST OF THESE MY BRETHREN -
bronzefist said in all his hippie wisdom:
Juni Juni Juni....Lady J. you said:
Waiting all of this time FIVE HRS. IN THE HOT CAR was a sweet, old, silver haired sister. When we saw her, both my husband and I were APPALLED!!!
You cheeseheads...she DIED HOURS BEFORE they arrived at your door, but they didn't want to stop their time.
brzfst
Now that is just plain sick humor!

hey yeah!
Not sure what you mean by "truth," or by "encouraging"...
I did my best to make the WT "Truth" my own during over a dozen years -- and obviously failed
that IS easy to understand.... Perhaps slimboy is having a bad day or just a little flustered.
Have a great week w/the family.
