DO YOU THINK THERE'S A CURE FOR CANCER?
by Mary indo you think the scientists, doctors and pharmeceutical companies know of a cure for cancer that they're not telling us?
when you consider the leaps and bounds in medical discoveries that we've made in the last 50 years, it seems incredible that they're still using chemotherapy and radiation as the treatment for cancer.. while i was one of the lucky one who has survived cancer (so far), it's always in the back of my mind that it could return.
we all have friends who died before their time because of this rotten disease, yet the only progress that seems to have been made is that they can now 'detect' it earlier, which of course gives you a much greater chance of survival.. there have been stories of people who have been cured through alternative medicine, yet no one in the medical field seems to be interested in anything other than chemo or radiation.

I've had the same concerns Mary for a long time..... I don't believe we'll ever know the answer to that question and a lot of others too.
In my 58 years I've found that the bottom line to most decisions is money. So it wouldn't surprise me at all.

That Evil Disco??
by WTWizard inback in october 1983, there was a craptower study article that effectively banned disco, rock, and funk music.
it also spelled the end of those rollerskating parties that the congregations used to organize.
now, i can see their reasoning behind the rock (backmasking satanic messages) and funk (dirty), even though it is very specious.. however, the "evil disco" strikes me as weird.

Did You See Congregations Polarized by Gossip? How was it resolved?

in some congregations i went to, there were such class distinctions due to cliques and personality conflicts that you could almost draw a line down the middle of the kingdom hall separating people.
i had one elder tell me and the ex-wife to stop associating with his believing daughter who lived with him, in good standing, because as he put it,"she's on slippery ground".

Oh most definitely Mr. Flipper. Resolved? The elders would give a talk about it, but it continued probably because THE WORST offender was the PO's wife. It would get so tiresome I finally worked by myself in the field ministry. It sickened me so badly to see good people being maligned. I talked w/this PO's wife about it and she would watch her mouth for awhile and soon she'd be back at it.
I tried to get the sisters to "shut up" , but it continued so I went on my own.

Ever Got the blame?? (sorry if post is too long)
by sparrow ini have been df'd for around 4 years and have not got my back up about the org until this year.
only this last year have i been looking around for answers and started realising there is a foundation for my reasons of not going back.
at first i was happy that it wasn't because i was making excuses for not going back but bad things were happening outside of the people i know across the org.. what pissed me off the most (and the reason i found this site) is because i got the blame for my brother in-law having sex in my house with someone other than his wife (my sister) because i am not witness and thus have low standards.. i'll try to keep this short: i have 2 sisters, one brother and 2 parents (fancy that) both remarried however.

Sorry to hear that sparrow. They act like a bunch of uncontrolled, paranoid fruit cakes.
I raised 4 kids to be JWs; thankfully none were baptized. From my experience, raising teenagers in the JW religion is hellish. There is no room for kids making "mistakes" no matter how insignificant the situation is.
My husband was a MS for many years, but had to step down when two of the boys decided the "truth" wasn't for them. Actually he was happy to be relieved of his "duties".
With your situation we are talking about consenting adult situations that happened while you were sleeping. But, the mindset is that someone has to take the fall. Just the fact that the deed was done under your roof makes you guilty. Nice, hey? Make sense? No.
I'm sorry to hear that you are now drug in on a matter - seems like the after shocks of this religion just keep coming.
