  we have been watching this turkey all summer.

  she started out with 6 little chicks and now they are half grown and there are 5. we've been putting sunflower seeds on the patio for photo bait but it's hard to get the picture without scaring them away.

  this is the closest one yet.

  ^ funny unconfused!

  right now we have a pesky badger digging holes all over the place. I mowed our back acreage yesterday and I bet there are 25 badger holes back there all new in the last three years.

  I live in the 'BADGER' state - Wisconsin - Gary; haven't seen one badger in the wild yet. Had one at the wildlife rehab center where I worked though. I would not like to get on the bad side of a badger. Those claws are WICKED.

  Yes. Turkeys love cracked corn. Thanks for sharing the picture.

  UPDATE ON DANSK

  it's been a long time since i posted here but i often read your messages when ian (dansk) logs on.

  as most of you will know, ian will be going back into hospital on monday for an allogeneic stem cell transplant and will be away from the forum for a good few weeks (hopefully he'll be back home within 4-6 weeks).

  last time he was in hospital many of you sent messages to his ward and i know they cheered him up immensely.

  My Brother Died in a Car Wreck Last Night

  i just found out about an hour ago.

  he wasn't even old enough to drink yet.. to make it even sh*ttier, he had called me a few weeks ago and asked if he could come out here with me but i couldn't do it at the time.

  so of course the first thing that comes to mind is if i had done something different it wouldn't have happened.. he was going through the sh*t as i call it, when witnesses go off the deep end and get into everything in the world to stop hurting and they don't even know what is wrong.

  Update: How my Cake business idea is going... (pics)

  so .. at the suggestion of krw, i checked with the health department to find out the laws for my state.

  i learned that they do not allow home bakeries here.

  so i had to rethink some things.

  Beautiful cakes Renee ! I used to help a friend make wedding cakes and it is a real talent and takes a steady hand. Found that fondant frosting for a cake is hard to do. Have you ever tried that?

  I have personal experience with this mindset of the WTB$TS. In the 1970's a pioneer sister and I met over coffee to read the Bible and discuss it. We started at John 1:1. Our intentions were completely honorable, but when it was found out after only several meetings together we were told that we would have to stop.

  The reason? "Jehovah has provided all we need to understand his word at the Kingdom Hall." This sister's husband was also a pioneer. She told me that he couldn't fully understand why they were so adamant about the whole thing, but we stopped as we knew it would cause us trouble if we continued.

  That was a very early red flag that I should've seen.

  A need to break the JWD habit

  i cut back for awhile, then i posted up a storm for a few days.. i tried to go online just to check email, and jwd was calling my name.. i am an addict.

  the bitterness with the borg has died down a little bit, .

  but the desire to comment and read about jw's is strong.. i will break the habit next week.
