one thing that the witnesses promote is how they are different from the rest of the world.
in your personal experience , did you find that you could trust a witness more than you could a non-jw?
While inside I felt they were more trustworthy & honest than other people of course my perception was altered at the time I wanted to believe they were better.
As their personal lives *what goes on outside of kh* became known it became clear some were no diff... marriages are not all roses, families are not joined at the hip as they appear, they do not wash their cars as often as they claim to, consume more coffee/donuts than WT suggests...

did you confess to something or were you confronted by the elders?
were you ever accused of something but it couldn't be proven?

It certainly altered my view of the royalty-inspired eldership group- asking a bunch of questions too personal/ not pertaining to the issues- pacing the floor while they all but had me under the bare bulb for interrogation, not allowing me to explain my answers... their judging opened my eyes to their true colors instead the 'hiding place from the windstorm' masquerade
after some yrs, i've acquired quite a library of wt publications, as have many of you all i'm sure.
how did you rid yourself of them after you felt you no longer wanted anything wt related?
amazon, ebay, local book store, sell them back to brothers, burn them at apostate party, other...?.

newboy- that's the line the dubs used on me to get me to stop reading OTHER religions literature- hey, to each his own- as writerpen says, it's all about moving on w/ life...
considering the WTS's contradictions & predictions over the years, perhaps someone else can use the pieces I'm offering to help DISPROVE the truth of the JWs- there are many ways to look at any given situation- it's all in your perception

They're taking up space which is a constant reminder of my lost & wasted time with the WTS- interested in any ideas you all have.

when you were a jw, remember those little things that made you happy on the inside but "sad" on the outside.
for example, the meeting ending early or better yet, being cancelled.
i recall a few years back the society was pushing sunday field service.
Yes, I remember once the power was out for the book study that am (everyone gathered stray chairs & sat close to the open front door), there was the service meeting/school scheduled that night- knowing no one else would report it, and I as a pioneer should report it, and that there would be no meeting that night if it wasn't reported, I didn't report it.
Thee was no meeting. When asked why did no one report the power outage, I responded, "I was leaving it in Jehovah's hands."
hello, first time poster, long time reader.. i was wondering just what my title asks.
if i own/read/admit to apostate material, can that get me df'ed?.
i know better then to admit that i believe the apostate material to the elders, or that i disagree with the society's teachings, but will simply admitting to owning and reading them get me df'ed?.
Considering the recent happenings re: Bill Bowen, Dateline, Panorama... and the many anti JW sites, WT articles & assembly talks dealing with the negative impact of the internet 'apostate' info/literature, it seems the WTS via the elders are tightening the grip on the clueless flock.
If/ when they find about your lit, most likely you will have a judicial committee-the key to keep from being df'd: it is essential that you show works that befit repentance ("I'm so sorry, I got tempted, but I'm praying to Jehovah often and have rid myself of this evil wickedness").
Of course, if you truly feel the JWs are not for you yet you remain in to save family / friends, you will be faced with leading a double life. Painful, either way.

i remember hearing stories as a kid that john denver would ask all the witnesses present at his concerts to stand.
and, then after they stood, he would play the national anthem.
any truth to this?
One of the sister's cousins attended JD's concert- said he asked all JWs to stand, played the national anthem, then asked to leave. Just asked them, not forced them.
