  I'm not talking about women who are really in need or may have become pregnant unexpectedly. I'm talking about men and women who continually have children, but can't take care of them. I think aid should be given to the parent who has custody, no doubt. However, I disagree with the bouble standard that is imposed upon men but not women. Why should that guy be strerilized because some woman decided to have children for him that he could not support? Why is he given the reprimand to "keep it in your pants" and the women are treated like victims? That's all I'm saying.

  Yep, that's true he fathered nine children, but their mothers are the ones who CHOSE to have those children. If he simply refuses to take care of the kids then the mother shouldn't have had children with him to begin with. Birds of a feather flock together, sorry ass women have kids for sorry ass men. As the article mentioned the state has no right to legislate these matters. There are too many mitigating circumstanes to wholly denounce either side in cases like this. Like you said women bear some reponsibilty too, but there exists here an obvious double standard.

  Hey All:

  I think it's crazy to put a person in jail for not paying child support. If they're in jail how are they supposed to support them then? Then you have a parent and the children as burdens to the system. Not to mention the added stigma of being a convicted felon upon their release, that's just gonna make it that much harder to become gainfully employed. It's simply ridiculous.

  Again what about the women in this instance. They made the same mistake with this guy two times one of em 3 times. They knew this guy was triflin, but they chose to mother not one but two and three of his children. Blame should be spread equally in this instance if he is required not to have sex then they should be placed under the same restrictions.

  Kenyata has a point. Although I think a woman does have a right to choose, why can't men be afforded the same rights? Why should men be forced to take care of kids that they maybe didn't want to begin with because a woman choose to have the child against his wishes? Is it riht in such a circumstance to force a man to support a kid his doesn't want, when women have the right to rid themselves of that responsibility if they so choose?

  i've known more than one couple, when one is professing to be of the anointed, and the other spouse isn't.

  this has never made any sense to me.

  was it before you left or after you left and what promtped your investigation?.

  for me it happened a few days before christmas of last yr. it was right after my roommate purchased his computer.

  i looked up jehovah on ms encarta, clicked on a link and as they say the rest is history.. i had just lost my job so i was able to spend a lot of time researching and looking into all kinds of shit.

  hey Larc:

  I like your post. I would think that pre-internet days it would be almost impossible to really combat the effects of the WTS effectively because of the sheer volume of their printing prowess. It's almost impossible to wade through all their stuff and find the contradictions w/o a tool like the net. But, experiences like yours show that it was and still is possible. Thanks.

  Life after death, of a sort

  greetings to the board:.

  some might remember my posting about my stepfather who passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago.

  since then, i've been spending some time helping out my mother with paperwork including handling the incoming mail.. yesterday she got a wonderful letter from the new england organ donor bank.

  I wish I could agree. The arrogance of this organization will prove to be it's undoing in this matter though. They have gone so far as to parade the victims of their policy as heroes and matyrs for their faith. Imagine the uproar this would cause if they all of a sudden flip-flop on this issue. Imagine the financial ramifications of the litigation that will result. If there is any change in the policy on blood it will alomost certainly be done quietly, but I don't see how they can do it. Too many eyes are open and watching this one.
