  and my polling place was a big old lutheran church -- yes, right there where babylon the great plays the whore to the politicians!!

  I voted today for the first time. There was a Senate, US Rep, and a local judciary on the ballot as well as some state contituion and local city charter amendments. I voted against most of the stuff on there. It seemed like the politicians down here, most of em prevented from running again due to term limits, where busy tryna pass off last minute favors to industry in the area. Seemed that way to me anyways.

  have frequently wondered why, when the black community is up in arms about something, they burn down their own neighborhoods, rob and loot their own stores, attack, injure, and kill their own neighbors, burn their own cars, etc., etc. What is that? I've asked some of my black friends, but they don't know.

  That's bullshit. By that I mean the entire statement, especially the part highlighted.

  Basically all the the riots that have happened in inner cities have one common denominator, the police. Police have been harassing, assaulting and killing blacks in urban communities for decades.

  That's why the community in South Central blew up the way it did. For once they had it on videotape. A man on the ground surrounded by cops getting the living shit beat out of him and they still got off. Rodney king is an asshole, no doubt, but that still doesn't give the police the right to beat him or any other asshole. Police are supposed to be trained professionals. IMO, there's no excuse for a cop to lose their cool under any circumstance and violate the rights of a fellow citizen.

  IMO, there's no community of ppl in this country that are as objectified and condescended to as black ppl. I'm sure we bear the brunt of the blame for this portrayl of ourselves because we simply haven't consolidated ourselves and lack most of the bonds that unite most communties today. However, the level of condescension sometimes presented about important issues that affect some of our fellow citizens and in an indirect way affect us also borders on willful, shameless, ignorance.

  The Two Witness Rule is NOT THE ISSUE

  many here are supporters of the movement to expose the wt society's harmful policies that seem to shelter molesters and punish victims.

  a common scenario is there are not two witnesses or a confession to the sin and the "loyal" elders have told the victim and their parents that 'there is nothing more we can do'.

  In my opinion they can KEEP their two witness rule and apply it in the CONGREGATION any way they want to. That is their right as much as the Catholic Church has the right to demand celebacy of it's priests. Both bad ideas but within their realm. The real problem is they should FIRST refer alleged crime to the authorities. FAILURE TO REPORT ALLEGATIONS OF CRIME TO CRIMINAL INVESTIGATORS is the major issue. The 'two witness rule' and how they apply it is a side issue that has caused much harm only because they do not consistently refer criminal acts to government agencies in place to handle them.

  I agree with this JST2laws. Why should the congregation have to get involved in this matter? If such a charge is reported to the elders they should let the victim's family file charges with the authorities while not taking any action against anyone judicially until it has become clear that some type of abuse has taken place. This way it allows the secular authoritis to get involved and inventually some type of justice for the victim and thier families. If the evidence is there the abuser will eventually be sent to jail, making it evident that he or she definitely was guilty of wrongdoing.

  Are You Embarrassed To Admit You Were A Witness?

  if the subject of religion or even jehovah's witnesses ringing your doorbell has come up, do you shy away from talking about ever being a witness?

  some have indicated that they felt stupid for ever believing in the watchtower.

  others have said they have a responsibility to help others not get involved in this "cult".

  Congregation get-togethers

  did your hall ever organize times for the congregation to do activities?.

  about every 6-9 months, mine would have a congregation picnic.

  people would bring food, and we would play a softball game.

  Damn, I feel for y'all.

  Down here in New Orleans there was always some witness somewhere doin something related to partying. Even the conservative witnesses down here know how to party. Must have sumthin to do with the location.

  I once knew young married couplewho moved from to the N.O. from Miss. They were surprised at the liberal attitude we had towards partying. Dude was the best dj, though. He knew all the good jams to play. Hell,even the old stuff he played got off.
