Every JW knows that the proper procunciation is Jehover
I always thought it was Geehovah!
i've heard the expression a few times here but have normally not taken much notice.
i've been exited for 31 years and 4 months, well before the onset of elders, reproofs and marking.. i understand the first 2 but am all at sea about the the third.
someone please tell me exactly what "marking" is and how one becomes marked or a marker.. or markee!
I was marked once during my teenage years after I had been relieved of the privelege of being an unbaptized publisher. I was still meetings and I guess they did it to punish me by hoping that the ppl in the congregation would stop associating with me socially. There was a special efftort made to make sure I was present at that meeting so ppl would be given every chance to know exactly whom the talk was about. It went it to very specific detail about what I had actually done that warranted my being disciplined. They did everything but point to me and say my name. It never did affect my being invited to parties and so forth and I doubt all the elders felt it was neccessary, but it still was a pretty stupid thing to do. My reasoning being that a person that falls into difficulty and is showing that he stilll wants to be with Jah's ppl should be given every possible amount of support possible.
bush headed toward worst record.
for job growth in 58 years.
(average monthly growth in employment during presidency)
I don't think it's fair to blame Bush for the economic woes the country is experiencing at present. However, I think the adminstration needs to do more than give a tax cut to the wealthy and play the waiting game. It's obscene to finance a war in Iraq while almost all states have deficits and are forced to cut spending in vital areas like educationa dn healthcare. All this while the government is about to post record deficits.
you remember that wonderful little axiom from star trek -- the wrath of khan, right?
spock's in th radiation unit and passes on this sage advice to kirk.
gotta love vulcan wisdom.. here's an even more powerful piece of advice:.
We need welfare but as far as I'm concerned it should have a time limit on it, maybe two years max.
According to most statistics, on average that's about how long anyone stays on welfare. The stories that are reported about ppl who abuse welfare often give us misleading perceptions about the system.
Besides that most social programs do benfit ppl, although politicos do indeed use a lot of money for frivolous programs, like farmer subsidies.
this weekend i upgraded my phone and signed a new contract... but lucky me did it on a weekend when some freak'in moron decided to shut down telephone customer support, their support web site, and their wap internet access... all at the same time... all weekend long.
right now i'm seriously pissed off with a simi-functional phone.
anyone else have a company screw them over like this?
I shoulda went with Cingular. I'm with another co. that doesn't offer rollover minutes. I rarely if ever use all my monthly allotment of minutes.
it's a public board.
i was still a jw.
i came here looking for answers to my questions and doubts.
I think other's ppls behaviour is a smokescreen that JW's use to cloud real issues about thier religion. When you really think about, what does the behaviour of ppl that no longer belong to the group have to do with any doubts a witness may be entertaining? No witness has ever doubted what goes on in the WTS because of what is going on outside. It's what they are going through because of the religion that they even bother to look at place like these anyways. They need to stop making excuses to justify things going on in "the only place of true worship on earth".
.
i emailed him a few days ago, no response.. he hasn't posted here since july.
I was just thinking about him yesterday. I haven't seen him online since about July or so. I hope he and his wife are doing well. Maybe they finally made that move they were talkin about makin.
ok........has anybody been hearing rumors about new light on the faithful and discreet slave teaching?
i recently talked to one of my ex-bethel buddies and he said that an adjustment has been in the works for awhile now and that the new light for the fds will be that they will receive their appointment before the great tribulation and that they didn't receive it at 1918-19 as previously taught.
their works (global preaching work, worldwide growth, etc) up until the point of the great tribulation will show that they have been faithful and discreet in caring for the lord's interests and worthy of "official" appointment before the end comes.
All they're doin in essence in trying to compensate for all the GB members dying off and the end still not being here. They need to come up with a valid reason for non-anointed ppl running the org at the highest levels. According to thier theology this would be the first time in the history of Chritianity that something like this has happened.
i knew i had a bright mind, i had been told that my whole life.
she hated going out in service but since i hated it myself we didn't go do the door to door work much.
i look back now and i can't believe how controlling and un-loving that religion had made me.
Kurt leaned over the table a little bit and looked me right in the eye. He said "Dave, you are one of the smartest guys I know, but I have to ask you this question." (Here it comes folks). "do you really an honestly believe, that the whole world is in a world of shit, because a talking snake, told a naked lady, to eat a piece of fruit"?
Worldly folks are the greatest aren't they?
if he runs, he will be the most qualified of all those who now aspire to the office in 2004. if he runs, general wesley k. clark (ret.
) will be the second most qualified person to ever seek the presidency of the u.s. over the past 100 years, second only to the great william jefferson cliinton.
what follows are excerpts from an article about him in a recent esquire magazine.. he is a remarkable man with an unassailable integrity -- the kind of man that has all the little bushites shaking in their boots.
Wouldn't it be cool to have a president that could speak english as eloquently and understandably than the Iraqi ambassador to the UN?
Ouch!
