Traffic Jams - We Are ONE BODY
by AlphaOmega ini have just returned from a fairly long weekend of car journeys (about 1000 miles in all).. as i was on the motorway just now, staring at all the lights whizzing around me, something occured to me.

I was on a road that is known as an "Arterial Road" which combined with the flow of red objects away from me made me think of the system of arteries in our bodies.
In our bodies, the main function of the blood cells is to "collect" oxygen and "deliver" it to the rest of our body.
All over the country, in fact, all over the world, WE as indivuals are whizzing around the closed system in which we exist, "collecting" and "delivering" things to each other.
We may deliver physcial objects or we may deliver information to each other.
The really had an impact on me, it made me consider the fact that we actually are ONE BODY. We are all "cells" in the body.
The important thing is what we collect and deliver :
Blood cells can carry other things besides life giving oxygen - they can carry toxins. In fact, the blood cells PREFER Carbon Monoxide to Oxygen, yet it is lethal.
Just like our blood cells, WE are capable of delivering that which is life giving and that which is toxic. Sometimes the toxic package is the easier one to carry.
So now I will try to ponder the contents of every "package" that I deliver to another being.
I think of it like this while driving it's very easy to be on auto-pilot, something about the rhythm of the road. Ever pull into your driveway after a long drive and you can't remember the drive home? That's auto-pilot or as the experts describe it the Alpha State. For me it's the best time to solve a problem when I'm in Alpha State and I try to take advantage of it all the time.
About the collecting and delivering I look at it this way when we are in the Alpha State we are in a harmonic vibrational connectedness with the Universe and therefore en-mass with others doing the same thing all connected at the same time. It would make perfect sense to focus on the "package" or thoughts we have towards others while we are in this heightened state.

SPIRITUALITY THROUGH THE UNIVERSE
by Dansk ini've not hidden the fact that i'm an atheist, something i've come to through what i believe is thorough research and experience.
however, while i no longer consider myself religious i do believe i am spiritual.. i do not believe the universe was created by an all powerful being, but that the universe is that all powerful being.
in other words, we are all part of the universe, as are all sentient and insentient bodies, and we are subject to its laws.

Ian like you I have long ago given up on my belief in God, but I do feel like I am a spritual person I have no need to really catalog it (by beliefs) into this or that as I'm still a work in progress.
To give an example, when I was first diagnosed as being terminally ill three years ago Mulan suggested organising a vigil for me and, happily, some JWDers offered to participate. Posters here, at a specific time, sent me energies, prayers, Reiki, vibes, best wishes, lit candles, etc. That first Tuesday night, while I was in bed, I definitely felt a force over my body and, interestingly, my watch slowed down by a full ten minutes. I reset my watch and it behaved normally and never lost time. The following Tuesday night, the second vigil, I felt a force again - and once again my watch lost a full ten minutes. Coincidence? I don't believe in coincidences. Since then I have never felt the vigil forces as strong, but perhaps it's because less people are taking part (?) or because the energies have to be dispersed amongst more people (I have since been joined on the vigil list by other poor sick souls).
That is so incredible Ian! FWIW on the Tuesday Vigils when I take part in them I absolutely focus on the specific ailments or conditions each one of the members are dealing with. I get into a meditative state and really focus as I believe my positive vibes are helpful. You've proven that!
I know sometimes I forget to plan the vigil but after your report I am going to put forth a better effort to take part in it every week. I've toyed with the idea of adding my son and his ailment to the vigil but have been shy about it, now I do think I will as he certainly could use the laying on of vibes by everyone! I'll let him know too and see how he feels about it and let you know.
My beliefs like I said are still in the process and I've had my doubts and concerns but some of the things I've been doing and reading about have worked and have made sense to me about the Universe.
One is that the Universe operates on a harmonic vibration and we can tap into that in various ways like in meditating getting really quiet and also in chanting using the Ahh for attraction and the Omm for gratitude. I like to use the both like ahhhhhommmm to cover my bases!
Another which I feel really makes a difference is having a positive attitude, putting out positive statements and dwelling on the good and keeping positive emotions. I use my emotions as my guidance system, when I'm feeling positive I feel I'm in vibrational harmony with the Universe. It seems simple enough and the results are always good.
It seems Ian that your positive outlook has played a good part in your healing and thank you for sharing this personal part of your life with us. You are an example of how awesome the Universe is if we just let it into our lives and work with it.

Welcome Layla!
I find solace in coming to a place like this and venting and possibly reaching out to some of you who have been through some of the same things and have the same backgrounds.
That's what JWD is all about and I'm sure you'll have much to offer in the way of reaching out to others as well as being comforted now in your time of grief.
I am truly sorry for you loss, death does cause us to question all that we've been told about it. I hope you can reformulate your belief system about death as well as you've done with other JW doctrines and it brings you peace.

Do you shun Jw's now?

i sometimes have forced jw's who shun me to speak, or be embarrassed if they don't.
then i let up on that as the hurting lessened over time.

No. I've had lots of interaction with JW's, some family some not.
On my job I work in a large department store in the men's department and several times JW's have come in to buy dress clothes for talks or assemblies. You can spot them a mile away and the language is so familiar . I have many times helped them pick out the right size shirt, pants and the right color tie and gladly take their money! It wasn't that long ago I was doing the same thing shopping for my boys and hubby getting ready for an assembly or whatever, sigh.
I think it's always good to be nice and cordial to people regardless of whom they are, if they want to shun me that's their problem not mine and not the way I want to be.

My personal proof elders are not spirit appointed

all of us were against appointing a particular ms as elder despite the fact he had regular pioneered for 15 years.
the reason was he told crude jokes and all in the congregation knew it.

Do you mean to say that Jehovah's Holy Spirit™ was not behind this scenario that played out in the last Congregation I was in:
DO and CO come to town (small town) for an impromptu JC of the PO in my congregation who was having an affair with a sister who not only was in the same congregation but also worked for the company the PO owned (family JW owned company), got the picture? Oh and her husband also worked for the same company. PO gets not only removed as an elder and PO but is told his company will pay many thousands of dollars to this sister to shut her up as she was threatening a sexual harassment law suit against the JW company!
He paid or rather the whole family did via the company funds, she and hubby left the B'org never to be seen again! I heard they set up their own church and went apostate! LOL
Gosh I thought Jehovah loves a bribe when it's to protect his good name from being slammed all over the local papers!
