i want to officially retract the opening statment of my "does anyone else not care about katrina?

" thread.. i've been watching coverage like a hawk all day, and it cannot be compared to the homeless problem in our country.

i still stand by what i said, which is that we should always support and feel compassion for those who are less fortunate, even when cnn is not involved, but this is definitely different.

I know that monetary donations are preferred, but hopefully I'll find some way to send this too.

Donations of whatever you can give are perfectly fine. Cash is good. But clothes and anything else are just as good. Perhaps there is a shelter in your city you can take those to? Bubbamar from this board has been helped with food and clothing and cash. It's ALL good and greatly appreciated. So don't minimize what you CAN give...just give. Like Avishai said, you really have no idea how much it can impact another's life. A simple T-shirt is appreciated when you have nothing else to wear.

am i the only one here who has non-jw and jw siblings who exclude you from "family" social events, but see nothing wrong with asking you to contribute a significant amount of money toward gifts for jw parents who instigate your exclusion from family social events?.

quite frankly, i'm pissed off about this most recent request and i'm planning on ignoring it.

why should i give $200 of my hard earned wages to people who won't permit me in their home or speak to me?

(((((Scully)))))) I'm struggling with the same type of thing with my parents. They've been nagging me for three years to send them pictures of my wedding. I've been putting it off just because I'm lazy, but Megadude once asked me, "Why would you send them photos of something too evil for them to attend?"

Made me stop and think. I still don't know if I'm going to do it or not. Maybe I'll just ask them what Mega asked me. "Why would you want photos of an event too evil to attend?"

(((((((Terri)))))))) I did that several years ago with a man I thought I'd marry. It was harder than hell to do the right thing. But it was worth it in the long run. He married someone that was perfect for him and I married someone that was perfect for me. No chaos. We're both happier.

Any reports on KH destroyed in New Orleans?

talked to my dad briefly about the new orleans situation a couple days ago.

he said the report is that there were as many as 29 kingdom halls destroyed.

i realize new orleans was big, but i have a hard time believing this.

is that just in the NO area, or is it just taking into consideration the areas effective by the Hurricane?

I asked him if that was in the entire Gulf Area that had been destroyed, but he said, "No, just New Orleans."

I was surprised, but then I'm so out of touch as to how many KH there really are in city.

so yesterday was a bad day, i was feeling sad, angry and hurt.

as i posted on another thread my convention starts today and i decided not to go, well yesterday i get two calls one from a freind that wanted to see if i would go with her so she would not have to go alone.

Lola, and all you lurkers, do yourselves a favor and read "Crisis of Conscience" by Ray Franz, and "Who Wrote the Bible", by Richard Friedman. Seriously, you can set yourself free of second guessing with research. It's worth it.

I have to agree with reading Crisis of Conscience". It was the clincher for me. I knew without a doubt that it was a cult after I read that book. I have never questioned "the truth" anymore after that and I've never been back to square one. I question what IS truth, but I know without a doubt, they do not have it! The freedom that comes with that is breathtaking.

When I got baptized in Honolulu (in the mid/late 80's), it was customary to get a lei of flowers when you came out of the water. I have a picture with several of my girl friends (we all got baptized together) and we all have leis, balloons and other gifts. We also had a large dinner party the following weekend. I wonder if that's stopped?

Vaginal Birth or Cesarean Section

to all the mommy's out there...did you deliver vaginally or by c-section?.

i was fortunate enough to deliver both my children vaginally although i came close to a c-section with my son.

he was in the posterier position.

Both of ours were born vaginally (my wife's vagina ... not mine).

Off all the methods of delivery, though...I highly recommend having someone else carrying the kid and giving birth for you. Makes things so much easier.

Thanks for the tip! I'm still very attracted to the puppy variety...yeah, they're a lot of work too, but man...they are a hell of a lot cheaper than a kid with clothes, car, tuition, and a wedding.

addiction and it's effects

with the internet we have such easy and infinite access to pornography, that some find themselves or their partner "addicted" to it.

how does this impact our sexual, emotional, and romantic relationships and how can the non-addicted partner cope with any feelings of deception and betrayal?

My ex husband had a lot of porn when we were dating. It really bothered me. So I told him as nicely as I could that it really bothered me. He didn't have one issue getting rid of it. It wasn't a big deal. I think when it came down to it, he wanted the real thing, not the printed copy.

I know many women are okay with porn, but I can't do it. It's my issue and I need to be with a man that respects that and can live with it.

Why is it that it's not okay to sue "brothers" for things they're guilty of, but OKAY for them to sue someone that isn't a brother but perfectly innocent? I don't get it.
