Where on earth would your mom find pictures of you getting a lap dance? On the internet? At home hidden in your sock drawer? Hidden in a box in the attic?
Just curious...because sometimes we leave ourselves open to things that ultimately put us in these uncomfortable situations.

Ray Franz is alive and well in Georgia. But he is a man in his 70s/80's that probably would love some privacy and enjoy his last few years with his wife Cynthia. If I was that age, spent that much time wasting my life for some cult that gave me NOTHING, I'm not so sure I'd have the emotional or physical stamina to put up with some of the BS of an anti-JW website. I would most likely help where I could help and enjoy my LIFE.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that, although I wouldn't change one second of my past, being a recovering exJW does not MAKE me. It is a very important part of who I am, and why I am who I am, but it is not me in entirety. I'd like to think that I am much more than just an exJW.

i have a couple of questions for anyone who has been reinstated.. what kinds of questions did they ask you?.
if they decided to reinstate you were you told not to discuss why you were dfed, especially if another jw was involved?
I find these stories so disturbing. What about "forgiving your brother seventy-seven times" and "not keeping tracks of sins"??? How on earth can they read those scriptures and then NOT forgive you and then KEEP TRACK of your sins and think they are the One True Religion? Hypocrisy!!!

it seems that some people are keen to use disfellowshipping as the measure of anything bad.
if someone is deleted from a forum for being obnoxious then that is akin to being disfellowshipped and is b-a-d. yada yada yada.. is it?.
is every disfellowshipping "bad" simply by virtue of being a disfellowshipping?.
I agree. Rules are rules. They are there for a reason...justice and protection of the people. Unless of course, the elders don't live by the rules they enforce on the people. Then it's just a big joke and you realize they're in it for the power and not the justice of the people.

Welcome to the board! What you need to know is that Jehovahs Witnesses are a CULT. They are not part of mainstream Christianity and have their own bible that teaches them things that aren't basic Christian tenets. They believe salvation is based upon works, not faith and by the grace of God. It is very legalistic and they make it hard for members to really see because they keep them so busy.
Of course, be prepared for your sister and hubby to deny this, as they are taught to do that too. But as with all other cults, what you see on the outside is not what goes on in the real-life JW world. I escaped 15 years ago, but was disowned by my parents and siblings in the meantime. All I can say is show TONS of unconditional love and affection for your sister and her baby and EVEN her husband. At some point they may realize it's what they're missing from the Kingdom Halls. Love there is ALWAYS conditional.

i know... some of you must be getting tired of my talking about my new car... but this is my first *new* car and i'm all excited about it.
today i looked at the owners lounge website that lets me see the progress of my car and the status has changed from on order to scheduled for production!
this means that the car should start being assembled around oct. 31.. the car sould be delivered in december... it'll be my personal christmas present to myself..
