You're so right. What is one woman's reputation to them? So sad. I guess that's why I'm concerned about Barbara herself. Is she really ready for this? I'm sure she's smart enough to realize they'll stab her in the back as quickly as they can.
I really think that the WTS had no idea how the media and the internet could be one of their greatest enemies!

I guess the reason I made the above comment is because NOBODY has anything bad to say about Barbara. Which I look at as a great testimony to her character! But I'm sure that her fortitude, her meekness, her role as "supportive wife" and loyalty, and compassion will be turned against her. The world that watches Dateline will see what everyone HERE has been saying. That Barbara's goal is to protect the innocent victims. But any R & F that sneaks in the Dateline will probably be given a totally different story about her at the Kingdom Halls. That she is Satan as the "Angel of Light".
Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I'm expecting a character assasination by the WTS. Do you think Barbara is? Is she truly prepared for this airing? Like I said, I don't know her. Never spoken to her.

To Maximus and others:
I know it's been awhile, but remember my parents saying that Satan turns himself into an "Angel Of Light" to lure the faithful out of worshiping Jehovah. Is there a possibility that the Society will try to make Barbara look like that? I don't know her, but I do know that the WTS will do almost anything to make themselves look innocent. Will she eventually be their scapegoat? I'm just trying to imagine the picture that the R & F will be given by the GB.

i know many j.w's and they are allways hassling me with there beliefs and making me feel pretty hacked off at times,is there anything i could say to shut them up or any good questions that they don't like being asked,i assume there are a few ex j.w's on this forum so you must have come across some tricky questions before,hope someone can give some advice?thanks

it's been about a month since i posted... sorry to stay away so long.. many of you are aware that my parents stopped speaking to me last year, and the only time i've seen them in a year is when my dad had a heart attack.
i got an e-mail from my mom that asked how i "felt about their religion" since i'm celebrating holidays.. i sat down with mom on saturday and told her that regardless of our differences in beliefs, that we're still family, and that will never change.
i told her that i understand that she's conflicted because of her beliefs, and that it's been difficult for her.

Wondered where you've been! Glad you're back tho. Sorry to hear about the convo with the parents. It took a lot of courage. I know that even though all turned out 'ok', there is probably a lot of grieving that comes with this. I understand. My family "divorcing" me was (is) one of the hardest things in my life - it affects EVERY aspect of it. It never goes away. So I'm trying to learn how to just deal with it.
You're in my prayers! Hope you can find more solace on these boards!

i just found a site where david yoder describes the amish culture in great detail.
it is fascinating to get an inside view of their world.
David Yoder's story is so sad. But oh so familiar! I had no idea that the Amish would have such issues. But then again, people don't think that JW's have "issues" either - and we all know the truth behind THAT statement.
I guess those groups of people that look a little too perfect are the furthest from it!

why are you confident that you will be glad you have your tattoo ten or twenty years from now?
I can't say that I'll regret my tat at a later date. I don't think I will. But it's barely above my tailbone - I can only see it when I look in the mirror. Otherwise, Neil is the only one that sees it. I got it there because if I really did want to be discreet about having it, you still can't see it even if I wear a thong. Besides, stretchmarks in that area aren't very common.

i know there are people on this board who despite earnest efforts to reach the hearts of friends or family still in the wt org feel they have to give up or that they are flogging a dead horse.. someone very close to me is preparing herself to leave.
her heart has already left.
she finally sees the true colours of the organisation she has faithfully followed for over 30 years.. but it has not been easy or swift.

Thank you for sharing your story. It gives me some hope that perhaps one day my family will be free too. My heart hurts so badly knowing that my mom, dad, and two brothers are giving their lives to an organization full of empty promises. They think the organization is God!!! How sad.
I don't know how to get my foot in the door as I live thousands of miles away and my parents rarely speak to me. I don't know how, I don't know when, but I have faith that God will give me the opportunity to help them. So until then, I draw strength from stories like yours. Thank you for the reminder to not give up!

LOL! Yes, it's true. You can be yourself and stay. What a concept, huh? I've had disagreements here, but the thing is not to take it personal. We all have good qualities/thoughts/experiences to share. We all have faults/character flaws. And it's okay. Glad you're here!
