  There is a bumper sticker I've seen that says, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could." That's definitely ME! I was raised on the beaches of Hawaii and the hills of Missouri, but Texas is now HOME! Why? For numerous reasons, but here are the main ones:

  Friendliness - people always want to help and encourage and be a good neighbor.

  Food - the best BBQ, Mexican, and sushi all within a mile of my house!

  Cleanliness - Texas highways are some of the cleanest you'll see in the nation. And the wide open spaces feels so roomy!

  Weather - summer's may be hotter than Hades, but the springs and autumn's are beautiful and winter's are not really bad.

  There are so many other reasons, but yes, I'm proud to be a Texan! Even though I don't have cows, horses, or guns. I have been to Southfork! Texan's definitely "do" everything big down here. Texans love life and everything that comes with it. Texans have passion and personality! I think that describes me pretty good!

  well guys and gals, i had to get a (routine) pelvic culture a week ago.. they test for beta strep bacteria when you're 37 weeks.. i tested positive, no big deal.. they put me on ampicillin and told me i have to have an iv antibiotic at the hospital.. guess what the ampicillin gave me?.

  Cranberry juice only works for UTI's. Does nothing for "other stuff".

  Lisa - I'm so sorry! Those make me grumpy. I have heard that using non-flavored yogurt as a TOPICAL helps. Never tried it, but it might work.

  For some reason I remember a story (Newsweek - early 80's?) that talked about twins. I remember it because I've got twin brothers.

  But the article talked about 4 different types of twins.

  1. Identical - a fertilized egg splits creating two embryos that are mirror twins. (One placenta and one shared embryonic sac.)

  2. Fraternal - two eggs fertilized by two separate sperm, creating two embryos no different than non twin siblings. (Two placentas and two embryonic sacs.)

  3. Fraternal - an egg splits before fertilization, but is fertilized by two separate sperms. (I know this can happen - this is what my brothers were. They had one placenta and two separate embryonic sacs.) Very rare - they don't know what causes the egg to split before fertilization.

  4. Fraternal - two eggs fertilized by two separate sperm from different fathers, creating two embryos no different than non twin siblings. (Also two placentas and two embryonic sacs. This can only happen when a woman has been with two men in a very short span of time.) This is also rare, but not impossible.

  Best assembly for girls

  so when you were a teenager and it was assembly time which convention did you go to, to go bird watching?.

  there were always rumors of the magical convestion someware where all the girls were lookers and were eager to meet young brothers.. did you all go to the pub after , whats the biggest crowd you ever saw after the covention in a pub.. once there were over a hundred of us crowding the locals out.. got any stories

  Shunning of Witnesses

  i know that we hear a lot about disfellowshipping - but how many families were shown simliar treatment by their relatives when they became witnesses?.

  while we still had contact with my parents' families, there was definetely a line drawn.

  i remember one time when i was about eight i called my aunt's house.

  When my Dad joined the JW ranks, my family still treated him the same as ever. We were still invited over on Thanksgiving and Christmas and Easter. We were still hugged and kissed and loved on. We were still acknowledged on the streets and treated kindly. We were NEVER shunned or given ultimatums about our religious beliefs. My UN-Christian family never deserted us. I say UN-Christian because my extended family members are not churchgoers and yet ironically enough, they exhibit stronger Christian qualities than my JW family!

  I received it and promptly deleted it. I think there is a poster here by the name of "enricofrassinetti" (sp?) who is involved in this somehow. It's not the first thing he's sent out. He's been in chat several times and his English is pretty bad, so I've not really talked to him that much. I've often wondered if he's a troll, but he hasn't caused any real harm.

  my votes:.

  the best: as a group they're relatively color-blind (low to no incidence of racism among them ).. the worst: their stubborn refusal to see the good in anyone but themselves!.

  I think your "best" trait is a sweeping generalization. I've been to several congregations where color was ALWAYS an issue.
