  Have a blessed day

  i have noticed that every time i go to a local store, the checkout girl always says, "have a blessed day" as i walk away after the transaction.

  has anyone else come across this, and am i the only one who finds it annoying?

  it seems to me that people who do this are "show boating" their religion... basically blowing a horn and saying: "look at me!

  Okay, I can already tell you I'm going to piss someone off with my comment, but here goes...

  What annoys me is that so many people are so freakin' eager to take offense to someone wishing them well. And that's all that girl was probably doing. Is she only allowed to say "Have a blessed day" to fellow Christians? If you're Jewish and say "Shalom", are you only allowed to do that to fellow Jews? Is it okay for me to take offense because I'm NOT Jewish? (I can already see it: How dare you say "Shalom" to me! Can't you tell with my last name of Smith that I'm not Jewish? You'd better say "Have a nice day" next time I come visit your store or I'm taking my business elsewhere!) This is about as ridiculous as ME demanding that YOU tell me "Have a blessed day" because I am a Christian.

  Gimme a break people!

  When you think about it, every action you take is a choice. You are basically CHOOSING to be offended over it. There are so many other things to expend your energy on rather than CHOOSE to be offended by something so little. How hard would it be to say, "Thanks, I am having a great day!" I can guarantee she'll look at you, smile, and be happy for you.

  Playing games at a wedding shower - is it wrong?

  my daughter-in-law recently gave a very nice baby shower for her cousin.

  the next day at the meeting she was called into the library and counselled for playing games.

  i asked her what the basis was.

  it has been one crazy , wonderful year for us.

  we have been staying so busy ( sometimes too busy) with the kids,all of their "worldly" pursuits ya know!!!!!!!!!!.

  I was just thinking about you last weekend. The Crawfish Boil wasn't the same without you two there! I'm so happy to hear that you're doing so well. Isn't it amazing how enjoyable life is without the shackles of the WTS??? It amazes me everyday that so many people enslave themselves to their crazy religion. It's NOT the way God intended us to live. I just finished a bible-study on the book of Galatians. If you ever get a chance to read it, it's very clear the JW way of life is NOT biblical.

  Hope to see you 'round her more often!

  All that you can't leave behind

  that was the title of a fabulous u2 cd, but i borrow it here to ask you all, old friends, a question.. first, apologies for being absent for so long.

  "real life" projects have cut into my online time, been so busy i haven't had time to turn around twice.

  but you are in my thoughts, daily.. my question for pondering...how do you know what to keep and what to throw away?.

  Girl, I have wondered where you were...what you were up to. I'm glad to know you're breathing. I've missed ya!

  Like Kate, I'm a huge pack rat! I'm so sentimental about everything. What's bad is that Neil is too. We're already out growing the house we bought last June. LOL During the move I was helping him go through a box and we found a love letter his girlfriend from the 4th grade sent him. I laughed as I read mushy and sweet words that I'm sure I wrote to my own boyfriend at that age. But Neil didn't want to toss it. He thought it'd be funny for our kids to see it someday. I had to agree, so we put it back in the box. I'm not too jealous of a 4th grade girl from years past. LOL

  Back in the early 90's I tossed all of my JW literature. I regret that. I wish I'd held onto at least some of it. In some emotional moments in life, I've tossed pictures, momentos, books, trinkets...and I've regretted it. So I have a hard time learning what to toss and what to keep. So I keep a lot for the sake of regret prevention.

  But other times I do find doing a major spring cleaning is very cathartic when you're trying to "move on" in some sense. Getting rid of my wedding pix from my first marriage was healing. I kept one and have it filed away with my divorce papers. Someday, I hope to be confident enough to share with my children, that mommy was married once before she met their daddy. I don't want to hide my history. It makes me who I am. And lately I've actually liked who I am.

  .....................i received an sms from mrs ozzie last night informing me that ozzie is having an extremely risky operation on wednesday morning, 8am australian time.

  i can't give more details at this stage as to the procedure due to confidentiality but i can assure you it is going to be dangerous!

  mrs ozzie said that it had to be done despite the risk.. so if all of us here could take a moment tomorrow and send positive thoughts.

  Dayum Preston! I have no idea why, but I've always had this thing for Jesse James. He's hot! I think it's all those muscles workin' hard over a hot engine. And those tattoos. *sigh* But Avi makes it look better with the shaved head. Have a thing for bald men too.

  Car Wash Con Trick

  just recently, i've been taking hl's car down to the car wash and giving it "the works".. that's multi-coloured foam, wheel wash, hand wash, screen wash, under wash, under protection and finally, dry and then hot wax!

  all for 6.80. whoo hoo!.

  hmm..the hot wax certainly does make it gleam, i thought.

  I just got my car washed yesterday afternoon. Paid $5 more to get my wheels shined and buffed. They get done rubbing her dry and tell me she's ready to go. I said, You haven't done her wheels yet. Oops. Yeah, I wonder how often they pocket money on these type of things.
