Yes, I've tried contacting Britannica customer support. They said they do not have time to assist people with this kind of request. What was interesting is they said I should try to contact Britannica. (Go figure?)
Black Sheep - I haven't tried to contact one who is selling a set yet. That may be the last resort. Thanks for the suggestion.
Ann OMalley - Where ya been??? I've missed you over at the other board. (Ros)
Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Encyclopedias Britannica or World Book 1987 Editions
by binadub indoes anyone have or know of anyone who has the 1987 editions of either of these encyclopedias?.
information is needed from them that was quoted in the watchtower.. if anyone has such (they're almost impossible to find), i'll arrange to communicate via email.. thanks.
(i also posted this on the friends forum.).

No, they need the exact information that the Watchtower quoted, which was the 1987 edition.
Even if the current edition would have the same information repeated, they need to extract it from that edition.
But thanks very much for the kind offer.

Already done all that.
Libraries, schools and other academic resources keep the current editions and sell off the old ones to private parties.
This was a last resort, hoping maybe some private party had a set.

I also have an article on shunning on my Web site, xjw.com. Here's the link.
http://www.xjw.com/shunning.html
I usually tell JWs who contact me that disfellowshipping and shunning are two different things. The Jews of Jesus' day were admonished to treat them as Gentiles.

It won't show in my profile, but I've been here for 8+years.
I used to post as Ros and I was one of the exodus from H2O, and before that the email list Jesus-Witnesses.
I had two log-ins but they would only let me keep one, so I kept Binadub.
Some of the posters in this thread really bring back memories of the days when the Internet brought a very rude awakening to the Watchtower Society. Nothing like it since.
Hi Doc Bob, TD, Marvin Shilmer, and many others who no longer post it seems.
TD--I miss you on ChC. Do you still have your log-in? You were one of my favorites on H2O. Enjoyed meeting you at the AJWRB gathering.

My o' My, How Things Change. I Never Even Noticed.
by AK - Jeff infour years ago when i first came to this site, i was quite actively still proving, and reproving to myself that i did the right thing in leaving my lifelong religion as a jehovah's witness.
some of the key components of my research were found at randy's site, especially the section on 'spiritual food at the proper time', a listing of thousands of watchtower quotations without commentary.
another was the 'quotes' site, and spin-offs of those ideas in a site called 'reexamine'.. i had bookmarked many of those sites.. now, just out of boredom, and with a desire to find a couple of favorite watchtower quotes for use in a future bit of blogging, i find that none of the above are even there anymore.

Hey - I didn't post that picture-link above to Scientology!!!
I don't know how it happened, but there was a blank-out when I was writing the post about the Watchtower predictions article:http://www.xjw.com/predict.html
Sorry for any confusion. I don't see a way to edit it out on this program.
Hey again--THIS IS AN EDIT. When I tried to edit the message with the Scientology ad, I get an error message.
But I have no problem editing this message.
I guess we have to put up with the SpamBots in these ad boards. It's me again with another Edit. Here's the message that pops up when I try to edit the Scientology ad above, erroneously submitted under my log-in:
Sorry, an error occurred while processing your request.
Controller: Post
Action: Edit
Message: Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown.at System.Web.UI.Page.HandleError(Exception e) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestWithNoAssert(HttpContext context) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) at ASP.views_post_edit_aspx.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) at System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage.RenderView(ViewContext viewContext) at System.Web.Mvc.WebFormView.RenderViewPage(ViewContext context, ViewPage page) at System.Web.Mvc.WebFormView.Render(ViewContext viewContext, TextWriter writer) at System.Web.Mvc.ViewResultBase.ExecuteResult(ControllerContext context) at System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.InvokeActionResult(ControllerContext controllerContext, ActionResult actionResult) at System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.<>c__DisplayClass11.b__e() at System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.InvokeActionResultFilter(IResultFilter filter, ResultExecutingContext preContext, Func`1 continuation) at System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.<>c__DisplayClass11.<>c__DisplayClass13.b__10() at System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.InvokeActionResultWithFilters(ControllerContext controllerContext, IList`1 filters, ActionResult actionResult) at System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.InvokeAction(ControllerContext controllerContext, String actionName)
I just want everyone to know that I would NEVER NEVER NEVER post an ad for Scientology. I think they're nuttier than the JWs.
This goes to prove it!!!
