DO YOU THINK THERE'S A CURE FOR CANCER?
by Mary indo you think the scientists, doctors and pharmeceutical companies know of a cure for cancer that they're not telling us?
when you consider the leaps and bounds in medical discoveries that we've made in the last 50 years, it seems incredible that they're still using chemotherapy and radiation as the treatment for cancer.. while i was one of the lucky one who has survived cancer (so far), it's always in the back of my mind that it could return.
we all have friends who died before their time because of this rotten disease, yet the only progress that seems to have been made is that they can now 'detect' it earlier, which of course gives you a much greater chance of survival.. there have been stories of people who have been cured through alternative medicine, yet no one in the medical field seems to be interested in anything other than chemo or radiation.

I never said they had not been prosecuted at all, I said the FDA has never prosecuted any pharmaceutical company for misleading advertising. They'll take any company with alternative therapies to court, but never a pharmaceutical compay.
Alt. Ther. companies aren't willing to go through all of this, though, are they? http://www.fda.gov/oc/gcp/regulations.html
If those pharmas were in court all the time (not that there aren't always lawsuits going anyways), then the next push would be to put them out of business. Then we'd all have a slim chance on living through other illnesses, having to rely on nothing but alternatives treatments and all.

Is it any wonder that lack of faith in the organization and the Bible in general is because people simply don't live long enough to see God's promises?
People years ago didn't live long enough, neither will we and neither will future generations. Life keeps going on and on and those same words (verses) keep being repeated with no end in sight. It's one big circle that doesn't break, unless you don't believe that stuff, of course!
Life is here, yet we were taught to keep looking out for it to end! Geesh!

IT IS EASIER TO LEAVE JWS IF NONE OF YOUR FAMILY ARE JWS
by steve2 inone of the biggest - if not the biggest barriers - to leaving the organization is family ties - particularly immediate family (i.e., those living in your household: sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, mother-in-laws, father-in-laws).
i know of no bigger barrier.
therefore, it's relatively easy to predict who will face the most adversity in trying to leave.

It was a breeze! NO ONE wanted me involved with jw's in the first place! They all knew not to mess around in that crap.
With that, I never felt like anyone was weird for fading or sacrificing showing their true self in order to continue having contact with family/friends. I got to see both sides.

LMAO at this thread!!! Whew...that is my new favorite picture, Nvr: "Flatter Jesus..."
Unfortunately, after reading this thread title, I now have a church song stuck in my head. I was singing this fresh out the womb and into the Mennonite church. It's like most of you remembering kh songs, and just as annoying!
Jesus loves me, this I know
for the bible tells me so
little ones to him belong
they are weak but he is strong
Yes, Jesus loves me
yes, Jesus loves me
yes, Jesus loves me
the bible tells me so. -

How many happy JW marriages do you know of?
by Bonnie_Clyde injust reading frequent flyer miles on the subject of feeling guilty for having a happy marriage with a non-jw.. in our congregation which i haven't attended for about a year, i can only think of two or three who seem to be happy.
of course, i don't know what happens behind closed doors, but i know of several who admit they are unhappy.
i wrote out a long list of couples who have divorced over the last 20 years--including three elders (one is on his second divorce).

Those I was close to had strong elements of control and disagreement on strongly held desires in life (kids). I wouldn't call them happy, but content in their mutally agreed upon roles in everyday life. You know, for the most part, anyone can agree on that, but that doesn't mean two people are each others' best friend!
