  GL Tirebiter, I agree, I remember Armstrong being talked about by some jws as having doctrines similar to the WTS. Then the schism came later and some beliefs became more "conventional." I saw one of their "advertising" shows and realized that things had changed and looked it up on the link you posted. Yes, the WTS has been changing all along, "adjusting" and "clarifying" policies and doctrines, or just stop mentioning them in the publications till that generation goes by. Ask anyone born after 1975 what they think about that teaching, compared to those of us who lived through it from 1966 to 1976 and beyond.

  all this political banter is exhausting, so i want to ask a question that has probably been asked before, so here it goes….

  let’s try to keep this non-partisan - just give your opinion and why you think that way.. i’ll go first.

  i think jws would generally lean to the right, but not by a whole lot.

  did rutherford have any "prophetic" justification for 1919 as the date that jesus declared him (ahem, the wt organisation) the fds?

  such as some calculation attached to 1914?

  that in 1919, jesus would come looking for his true organisation?.

  the gist of it is that sorcery involves drugs/medicines/poisons, with or without spells, sorcery is not the same as witchcraft or divination, or white/black magic.

  i have long wondered about the connection between the medical/pharmaceutical industry's symbol of the serpent wrapped around a pole/stake, and the use of the word pharmaceuticals/pharmacy.. considering the common use of fluoride in public drinking water, nsaids with side effects such as depression, brain fog, dizziness, and opioids, mrna gene therapy, vaccines and so on, i wonder am i going mad, are these all coincidences??

  Yes, that is a technique of the WTS, stop mentioning a teaching so jws forget they said it, Never take it back.

  Actually, in the WT 6/1/1973 on page 338-339, the WTS connected that word with smoking, using tobacco, coca leaves and betel nut, and how jws had to stop using them or be df'd. "15. Even though tobacco is not specifically referred to in the Bible, how do Bible principles provide an answer to this issue?

  15 The Scriptural evidence points to the conclusion that they do not. As has been explained in other issues of this magazine, the Greek word phar·ma·kiʹa used by Bible writers and translated “practice of spiritism” or “spiritistic practices” has the initial meaning of “druggery.” (Gal. 5:20; Rev. 9:21) The term came to refer to spiritistic practices because of the close connection between the use of drugs and spiritism. Tobacco was also used initially by the American Indians in this way. It can properly be placed, therefore, in the category of addictive drugs like those that provided the source for the Greek term phar·ma·kiʹa. The nicotine in tobacco does not have the same mental and emotional effects produced by “hard” drugs such as heroin or the so-called psychedelic drugs like LSD; yet nicotine addiction does definitely affect the mind and exercises a strong enslavement.   i grew up a jw but my parents were not regularly attending services at a kh.

  they used to, and were thoroughly indoctrinated though.

  as is the jws habit of visiting non-attenders, 2 sisters came to my mom and dad's door one day to inquire of our well-being.

  LHG, I went to several convention is Europe, trips sponsored the WTS and the WTS arranged visits to the cathedrals and Vatican City in Rome, for an extra fee of course.
