Don't go.
Why try? Just make sure you don't fall out of your chair. I used to sit by one parent and one sibling both nodding off trying to keep them awake and in their chairs. Haha. One brother told my parent to get more rest....right!
here's a question i always wanted answered during the years i was a witness.
what's the best way to stay awake during the watchtower study?
oh, furthermore, what's the best way to stay awake during any witness "snooze-a-thon" brainwashing session?

yeah, like these guys never make appointments.
just stroll up when it suits them and not you.
is it ignorance or simply a matter of discourtesy?
Here is the theory and instruction from the "slave":
*** w96 3/15 24 How Christian Shepherds Serve You ***
Before making a shepherding call, one elder phones and says, “I call on one family each month. Can I visit you for an hour or so sometime next month? When would this suit you?”
Suggestions for Shepherding Calls
• Make an appointment: It is usually good to make an appointment. If the elder plans to handle a serious problem, it would be proper to inform the publisher of this beforehand.(My comments: what a joke!)
Supposedly, if they have tried to call several times and/or left messages and the person doesn't call back to make an appointment, they feel they can "drop by unannounced."
If the body of elders have reason to believe that a judicial hearing may be warranted, they will continue to pursue meeting with the person even if the "accused" avoids them. This is called sending out 2 elders on a "fact-finding" mission. Supposedly, they should have enough information already to do so.
Just tell them it is inconvenient and say you will call them when it is convenient. I would never let them in if they drop by unannounced.
i have a vivid memory of 1975 even though i was only 6 years old.
i remember the whispers and the fervor surrounding the year.
i even had an uncle who marked his calendar every day with big red xs proclaiming that he couldn't wait for "this evil system of things to end.".
I was in my 20's in 1975 and had since 1966 maintained that it could not come in 1975 because everyone thought it was coming in 1975...because the Bible said:
Matthew 24:44
On this account YOU too prove yourselves ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think to be it, the Son of man is coming.
Even in my early teens, I recognized that Jesus, being Jehovah's helper in creation, would know exactly when Eve was created and when the sixth creative day ended. Thus over 4,000 years later when on earth, Jesus would not have said:
Matthew 24:36
"Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father."
My reasoning stopped them dead from trying to pressure me but it didn't stop them from continuing to believe.
please read the following brief paragraph carefully: .
"once again, the ruling ecclesiastical class suppressed efforts to make gods word available to their flock.
they violently silenced a voice that pointed to some of the errors of their non-biblical beliefs.
Farkel, I appreciated that comment "smart dubs afraid to bring it up." I used to do that but the looks I get are not encouraging. There are more than a few JWs that read these articles with understanding but don't dare discuss them with others for fear of being kicked out.
"We must have order!"
Nice comments everyone, from a JW who is not braindead yet.
There is only one authentic witness site:
All others, no matter what, are unauthorized.
Just use your own judgement.
made me so sick, i had to leave.
for those who dont know, the article is here..... .

I noticed the phrase or version of it in almost every paragraph "God's backing." Are they trying to tell us something?
i have noticed in using the wt-cd that the use of the terms "jehovah's christian witnesses" and "christian witnesses of jehovah" dropped dramatically after 1980. is there a reason for that?
Thanks everyone for your responses. I had some inkling that might be it. Interestingly enough, at one time, as I understand it, only the anointed were considered Jehovah's witnesses but not the great crowd. I'm still searching for that reference. Also, in the April 1, 1976, Watchtower, "Jehovah's witnesses" became "Jehovah's Witnesses. It's interesting what I keep finding using the WT-CD.

i recently got a copy of the finished mystery.
it's ok if you ignore the mould.
mines the version featured on witnesses of jehovah video.. i got a question.
Oh, I read, hawk, and critically. I've been around a long time with a long memory. Most of these "discoveries" I have made on my own but I am glad to seem them validated here and other places.

personally, it upsets me very much.
or are there any other parents that found better, alternative ways of getting young children 'trained'?.
i am not anti -smacking by the way,(except at the kh) but it is always the very last resort.. latte
I first I thought this was about "kissing." Wrong!
I personally don't believe in spanking, smacking, hitting, slapping, etc.
If I made a mistake a work and my supervisor "smacked" me, especially in front of others, he/she would be in big trouble legally. Why? Because there are more effective and constructive ways of helping me to make corrections. This would be considered a legal offense punishable by law.
Why then is it all right to do the same to our children who are much smaller and weaker physically? To me it is indicative of an unwillingness of the parent to put the effort into finding other ways that may seem to take longer but end up to last longer. All hitting does is evoke fear. Do we want our children to obey us because they fear physical punishment? I would think then our children would only obey us when we are with them or there is a danger of being caught. We want them to obey us even when there is no chance of being caught.
Take the time to remove your child from the situation and talk to them. Set a good example yourself. I think time-outs can work with most children.
Don't be afraid to speak up to a parent who is obviously out of control. Even if they don't stop, the child gets the message that not all adults support this type of treatment and may seek them out for help then or later.
