I think he is as guilty as O.J. was. If she raped those guys, they got what they deserved for messing with her in the first place. It's pretty obvious he knew what was going to happen to her when he parked his car were he did and went back in the place they had dinner and leaves her in the car.But when your a star you can get away with it. If that had been an ordinary person, they would have been found guilty.

a question
by bonnzo ini'm a jw still, and i'm new on this forum.
here's my question: if the faithful and discreet slave is a messenger for truth why is the only mention of them in the bible in the form of a parable?
why only one time(in two parallel accounts)?

If you keep asking questions like that, you won't be a JW for much longer
So true! And haven't you noticed they add the word "class" to it so they can say it's the "anointed." We know what the Bible says about adding or taking from God's word. [Revelation 22:19 and Proverbs 30:6] If you are still going to the Kingdom hall in April when they start studing the book of Daniel, I don't remember what page now but when they give Daniel's interpertation of King Neb.notice Daniel says the tree represents King Neb. and HIS ruler ship is to the extremity of the earth.but the organization says"rulership to the extremity of the earth represents Jehovah's rulership. They contridict the Bible. Daniel says seven times would pass over King Neb. rulership and about five pages later they say the seven times represents God's rulership. No where in Daniel chapter four does it say anything about the tree representing God's rulership. They twist the scriptures but I can say one thing for them, they are fullfilling the scriptures. There is a scripture that says "They twist the scriptures and do so to their own destruction." Forgot where it is but you can find it.So many of the Elders cover up for the organization but there are still so many sincere people in that cult.I just wish we could do more to help them but it doesn't seem like you can. They put too much fear in them about loosing that" Paridse Earth."

Lake of fire
by A Paduan inmy apologies for dwelling on the 'death' thing this morning, but anyway...
following spiritual death, a person might join, or be in already, a group (a lake of men, not the sea, but a lake) with a staple of 'fire and brimstone' - hence becoming that which they are not, or not becoming that which they are - the death of the soul.
what do jws teach / understand as the lake of fire, and second death ?

what do jws teach / understand as the lake of fire, and second death?
They teach the lake of fire, which is the second death is everlasting destruction. I am no longer a JW but I do believe that, since the Bible at Revelation 20:14 says the lake of fire is the second death. That religion is a cult. I don't know if you know that. If you are talking to them, ask them why the Organization gave so many different dates as to the "end of the world." They will probably say because they are imperfect and make mistakes. The Bible at Mark13:32 says"No one knows the day or hour, not the angels, nor the son, only the Father knows." They claimed to know more than Jesus. The Watchtower of April 15,1943 said"God is the author of the Watchtower." If he is, he told a lot of lies. We know God does not lie. the Watchtower December 1, 1991 page 7 said"A religion that teaches lies can not be true."And they have told pleanty.

What I have issue with is, is it possible to have an " Apostate Question"?
The Watchtower Society considers anyone that questions their teachings is an apostate. It doesn"t matter if the Society is wrong, they are still right. They never read anywhere that Jerusalem was desolated in 607. They just throw that out in front of you and your supposed to believe it.When you study the Daniel Book in April, notice on page 87where they give Daniel interpretating the dream about the tree. Daniel makes it clear the tree represents Nebuchadnezzar and his rulership is to the extremity of the earth. but notice the Society contridicts Daniel and says "rulership to the extremity of the earth represented by the great tree symbolizes Jehovah's universal sovereignty.Thats not Daniel's interpretation but Society's.The next paragrtaph Daniel says seven times would pass over HIS kingdom. It DOES NOT say seven times would pass over Jehovah's kingdom. But that is what the Society says on page 94, par. 24 and that is what you have to believe if you want to be part of that cult. .Now try to question this and you will be an apostate. Enjoy your study!

Money Hungry Pricks
That really fits that Organization. The February 8, 1962 page 23 [Awake] states: If a Christian invests in stocks, no one should criticize him. When he knows that a corporation is devoted entirely to manufacturing merchandise that is used for a morally wrong purposre, it would be improper for him to violate his conscience by investing money in the stock of that company." The H. M. Riley Trust is a U. S. trust that has the Watchtower Society as the sole beneficiary. The trust has made an investment in a cigarette company[Philip Morris].The amount of the investment is small, it is not the amount that is at issue, but the principle. The Watchtower regards smoking as an unchristian activity and a disfellowshipping offence for a Jehovah's Witness. The Watchtower Society also owns a large percentage of at least three "Sister Compainies":Rand Cam Engine Corp., Rand Energy Group Inc., and Regi U.S.Inc.The management has signed numerous agreements with some powerful warfare-technology contractors. As if this wasn't enough, the Watchtower Society was also associated with the UN, [which they protray as an evil organization], for ten years. In October 2001, the Watchtower Society requested termination of its association.

Need some scriptures ...
by Wild_Thing innormally, i do not get involved in biblical debate, being that i am a doubting atheist, but a friend of mine made a comment that struck a nerve with me, probably because her mentality seems to echo those of jws.
the question was asked if all humans are considered "god's children" (was not asked by be, of course).
this was her response:.

Is she saying "If you don't do what God says, he'll disown you?"
Hi Wild Thing, I am not a JW, got out of that cult about 2 years ago.I do believe either Satan is your Father or God is your Father. The reason i feel this way is because of what Jesus said at John 8:44 to the Scribes and Pharisees, he told them the Devil was their Father. So according to Jesus all humans are NOT considered "God's children". John 8:42 Jesus said "If God were your Father, you would love me." So we have a choice, either love Jesus or the Devil is our Father.

Both the Watchtower and "You Know" are wrong, wrong, WRONG!
by Schizm inwill people who die at armageddon really be finished forever?
yes, the scripture says that they will be "killed" but not thrown into the lake of fire.
but what about the scripture at revelation 17:8?

Christendom's conduct betrays her as being "part of the world",something that the Bible tells us not to do.
Schizm, Did you know the WTS was associated with the United Nations for about 10 years. When it was found out and made public, they lied and said it was only to get a Library card but they could have gotten one without applying for association. They requested termination of it only because they got caught. Also the WTS invest's in stock market. And one thing they invested in was cigarettes[Phillip Morris] They will disfellowship someone for smoking yet they were making money from it. They are hypocrites! They also own 50percent of a company who makes bombs for War.They have the nerve to say the'faithful and discreet slave"has replaced Jesus as the dispenser of truth.[watchtower 1981 Feb.15,page 19] The Watchtower has experienced complete failure of all its predictions, not just 1914 but they did say" 1914 was God's date not ours"[Watchtower July 15'1894] They changed it to 1918 than 1925 than 1975 for just a few. They had the nerve to say" the Watchtower has consistenly proven itself dependable." that statement is in the New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scripyures 1950 page 793. What a lie! I do agree with you about Christendom, she is part of the world also. You don't have to belong to an organization to have a relationship with God. Jesus said "NO ONE comes to the Father EXCEPT through ME.

According to the WT policy have you committed the unforgivable sin and instantly destined for gehenna? Does anyone have any info on this?
Those who the WT calls Apostates are the ones who know the truth and I can't see why any of them would even think about getting reinstated. Hebrews10:26 says"If anyone practice sin willfully, after coming to an accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins." You notice the scripture says "practice" so when someone keeps doing things they know is wrong they cannot be forgivin. And the WT has consistantly published lies and THEY are the ones who will not be forgivin. Deuteronomy18:21-22 tells you what happens to false prophets. It plainly says if they prophesy in God's name and it doesn't come true that is a false prophet. Verse 20 of Deuteronomy says they will be put to death. I personally believe if any of us "apostates" would go back we would not be forgivin because we know what the truth is, thats why we left.

Getting out...terminating Bible study
by PClark in.
i have been visited by a local jw woman weekly for almost 4 years and started weekly study about 1 year ago.
friday things took a more serious turn and i am very uncomfortable.. i need advise on how to stop the meetings (without being offensive) and still get away from this madness before it gets out of control.

PCLARK, I agree with Bikerchic, All you have to do is put a sign out saying "No Jehovah's Witnesses". If it doesn't and they keep bothering you tell them you will turn them in for harassment if they aren't going to resprect your sign.

Babylonian Business Records
by VM44 ini have read that thousands of babylonian business records exist on clay tablets, and that these alone provide proof that the year 607bce is not what the watchtower claims it is.. since business is conducted on a day to day basis, these records should provide a continuous record of each babylonian kings reign.
is there a summary of the babylonian business records?
in particular, a timeline showing the number of business tables in existence corresponding to various kings and dates within a king/s reign?.

wt scholars deal with Bible chronology based on the Bibical data primanily and are not dependent on outside secular evidence apart from determing a absolute or pivotal date.
Scholar, start at 539 BCE[pivotal date] a date WTS accepts. They also accept 17 years for Nabonidus rule, 4 years for Neriglissar, 2 years for Evil-Merodach and 43 years for Neb.Count backwards from Nabonidus, add 17 to 539=556, add 4 to 556=560, add 2 to 560=562 and add 43 to 562=605. History says Neb. begin to rule in 605. WTS says Neb. begin to rule in 624. If you subtract 43, 2, 4, and 17 from 624 you get 558 but if you subtract these years from 605 you get 539.History is right WTS is wrong. If you add or take away any from these four years you can't get 539 which is accepted for Babylon's fall.
