should i move out?

my situation is getting worse, i told my parents im going to move out in 6 months once i turn 18 whether i get to go to college or enlist into the navy.

my over zealous mom says that i can move out tomorrow.

now i have lots of friends at school, ive only hung out with few not that long but ive known em forever, should i burden them with me asking to move in with them?

nope, don't move out just yet...hang in as long as you can, at least til you're out of school. BUT, i agree, if you don't already have one, get a part time JOB!! JOB = $$ = Parents with much less control.

I went thru something similar just a few yrs ago myself, ended up moving out just before my 18th day, but thankfully had a full time job and had been outta school for a couple months. the last six months living with my folks were hell on everybody, hence my leaving when i did...but what made those last few months bearable for me was having a job, so i had my own money and really didn't need my parents for anything other than what they were *legally* required to provide, ie. food/shelter. remember, pretty much no matter what you do, your parents can't boot you out until you're 18. don't get me wrong, you should respect your parents and follow their reasonable requests...but you don't have to be their bitch anymore either.

funny thing was, after i first moved out i didn't talk to my folks for a several mths even though we lived in the same city, maybe 10 miles apart...but after that initial "scare" they realized that what their beliefs are and whatever my beliefs are, it's not worth losing a family over, and now we're closer than we've ever been. of course, i was never baptized, so that helps b/c there's no shunning...

anyway, stick it out, but stick to your beliefs...who knows, your parents could come around one day

i was at university the other night in the computer lab, cruising this site, well a fellow classmate who has been in my class since sept and we have become friends, walks past, looks at the site i am on and says, "i noticed you are on a jw site, did you know i am a jw, are you one?".

i was shocked.

i turned to him and let loose,.

EXACTLY. i've never heard on the tv news, major papers or even online news sites of JWs being a huge help in any disaster...but i sure heard allot about all of the JW disaster help from the platform!

i've been reading many topics in here, now i am wondering... what is truth?

i'm both respectful and broadminded enough to allow for any other viewpoint, whether or not i agree.

I'm trying to find out what's all the hub-bub, Bub. That's it. Trying to find out what there is to leave <i>for</i>, after having read so many threads devoted to what to leave <i>from</i>.

I find it...interesting...that there's a need to find anything better, before leaving. From my short time on this site, from what I've seen, it's point is to show why/how JW's are wrong in allot of their belief's and have mislead many people, many times; and IMHO, there is allot of evidence to back that up. Isn't the fact that they're wrong enough to want to leave? I guess not, b/c I've heard it before from "spiritually strong" witnesses that the true reason they believe in the organization (other than ignorance to the facts....sorry, cheap shot ) is b/c they haven't found anything else. When asked why they personally started to believe so strongly, I even had an elder say to me "Because it was the religion with the least wrong with it." And that's enough?!?

I'm not saying I have any answers, but maybe the answer is to just keep searching.

Just my two cents.. .

i have been wondering who is the president of the watchtower society?

my mother told me that milton henschel died in 1993 and i have not heard of anybody ever replacing him?

my mom also told me that the society has 7 new corporations within the watchtower society.

My mom is boasting that this is a sign that Jehovah's spirit is overflowing within the WTS because we are near the end of this system of things and that Jehovah will speed things up near the end.

hmmmm...sounds like they're just getting more corporation like....it's BIG bussiness now

i wondered what the details of this were, have they actually named the book in any of their publications?

or spoken publicly against it?

And, I know this for a fact, because some people in my congregation were personally aquainted with someone in whose neighboring congregation it happened.

Apparently at an Earth,Wind and Fire concert, the band abruptly stopped performing and asked all JW's to leave the venue because they were blocking the demonic spirit from possessing the crowd.
No, no, no...........that was at a John Denver concert.............

i'd heard john denver asked all the dubs at one of his concert to leave...nothing about the demonic spirit though

I remember growing up in Canada, there's two that really stand out in my mind. 1) the smurfs walking out of the KH. this one seems to have traveled all over! for those of you that are unfamiliar with it, it goes something like, there were these smurf stuffed dolls that were in the KH, i think they were there b/c they were left in the lost and found or something. anyway, one night they walked out of the hall b/c smurfs are demonized!!! oooooooo....ahhhhhhh :-p and for those that don't know what a 'smurf' is www.smurf.com 2) the UL of a school bus driver, who was picking up kids from a catholic school (of course). one day the kids boarded his bus and wanted to show the bus driver what the the nuns and taught them that day. the kids proceeded to levitate!! well, the bus driver being the good jw he was, simply had to udder the words "oh, jehovah jehovah" and the kids dropped right to the ground and could never float again. i take it the moral being that demons are even afraid of hearing god's name aloud. those are the first two the come to mind for me....anybody, please feel free to correct/add to the either of these UL i'd love to hear some more!!

why are jw's so haughty about the bible?

having to deal with my dad and my brother any question you raise to them they act like your an complete a##hole.

Have you ever seen a family member pretend to laugh as evolution is discussed on a nature program, or bitterly shout "READ THE BIBLE!" at the television set? I have.

LMAO...YES!!! all the time, my mom's funny for that....same goes for anything that comes on about any holiday and "witches" (LOTR/HP/etc)...it's either a laugh, a bitter shout or an arrogant scoff with an eye roll and some comment about how people can believe such "garbage" lol

the wts is often critised about being false prophets when they predict something and it doesn't come about.

here's one that my dad always likes to bring up...blood. they were right about blood.

he'll say "even back when we were ridiculed and laughed at for not taking blood, we stood by our beliefs, even when we didn't really know why. and NOW, well just look at it! with all of the tainted blood, the currupt red cross. there are even all kinds of studies out there from non-jw sources that say blood in surgery actually *slows down* recovery and success rates. there are even hospitals were they try to do the majority of their surgeries *without* blood!" and he'll go on and bust out some books or papers that show he's correct. now, he is on the blood liaison committee, so i'm sure that's where he gets all of his 'inside info'

i realize this isn't a prophecy or whatever, but just wondering what some rebuttals or other thoughts on the matter would be...?

i'm a newbie, so i apologize if this has been gone over on other posts
