Recently Disfellowshipped
by dfd ini having been "lurking" around here for about a month--right when i was disfellowshipped actually.
in a year long relationship--broke up-five months later had a bout of conscience and told on myself.
myself and my ex are disfellowshipped and now most of my former group of "friends" are getting in trouble.

CCJW.com, CCJW.org
by Quotes ini just stumbled onto this useless bit of info: .
watchtower has registered internet domain names ccjw.com and ccjw.org (christian congregation of jahoobee's witlesses).
.org and .com are reg'd to joel gott /watchtower (joel seems to be their head nerd) .

**P.S. It is interesting that CCJW.org simply has a page titled "SI Projects" (look at the title bar in your browser). Does anyone know what SI Projects means? Special Interest? Stop Interference?**
The only thing "SI" means to me is: The old "SI" book. All Scripture is Inspired of God.

Presiding Overseer Says They Will Ask If You Still Want To Be A Jehovah's W
by minimus inthe local needs talk on thursday discussed a few different things, according to my mom.
but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.
they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

**I asked him if someone was on the other line. He replied, "No, but Bro. so-and-so is listening in."**
I'd take that as a 'yes'. Liars.
Sneeky indeed. Oh, how they think they are 'All that.'

Stickers on magazines
by Apostanator inwhenever i would see a watchtower or awake at the laundromat, i used to just rip them up and throw them away.
but now i carry labels on me that have been printed off my computer and stick them on the mags.
i have several types that are printed with such sayings as ( " this is a cult " included with freeminds website ) and ( "jehovah's witnesses cover-up child rape and abuse " included with silent lambs website ) i feel this is more successful as the magazine cannot be picked up without having the sticker in your face.

**Don't forget, you'll need to average at least 10-hours a month, otherwise Simon won't be happy. :) **
Not to worry.
I've regularly made pioneer hours here.
Where do we keep the time slips??

New and need a question answered before I post any other questions
by soundbox_guy inokay, first off, let me get this straight...you guys are all witnesses, some all active, some do things all the way right, some don't do things all the way right?
some are by the book but not preachy, and some are witnesses that are rogue and do things their own way?
i just want to know before i post any doubts or concerns or anything because even though i know we're supposed to stay away from places like this on the internet, i don't want what i say somehow getting back to my congregation somehow and next thing you know 4 elders come busting through the door waving "no blood" cards and shouting "freeze, jehovah's witnesses!

Aude_Sapere
**So I guess my question is, have you guys been through similar things like this?**
Yup. And if you think THAT's bad. Imagine being a single WOMAN in that organization.

Took a huge step today
by tyler m ini've been gone from the "truth" for 9 years this month.
i have very little contact with my witness family.
every year around this time i get a letter from my grandparents.
-
Aude_Sapere
Yikes!
That's a mighty gutsy move. I think I would have trouble with that. But then my grandparents are mostly dead (one is still living) and none were witnesses so I hold them in different regard.
I might do it to my mother, but she's stopped trying to contact me.
(I'm neither DA'd nor DF'd)
Oh well. I guess congrats. It certainly moves you into another chapter.
Is today really your birthday??
If so,
***HAPPY BIRTHDAY***
Hugs,

State Intervention when parent and doc disagree on treatment

I caught part of this on TV this evening.
There was a history of these same parents refusing blood for i think the same child.
I think this situation is not so cut and dry - court taking custody because of medical decisions. There are often conflicting medical advise given by different doctors.
I remember a friend who had twins. One was born with a heart defect. We called him 'cryin' ryan'. One pediatric cardiologist wanted to do surgery right away. Second opinion gave them very different advise: Wait until after 2 because better chance of child surviving the surgery.
BOTH parents loved the baby. One sided with one doctor and the other favored the other's advise. It drove a terrible wedge in the parents' marriage and one parent gave serious consideration to taking the baby into hiding to prevent the surgery.
Stories like these make me leary to let the government intervene. JWs and their blood policy help me lean the other way.
I can completely understand the 51% v 49% poll results.

Name Some Trivial Things That Are Big Deals To JWs
by minimus inso many things come to mind to show how silly jws sound in reality.
for example, being allowed to pass the microphones is a big deal, especially to a young brother.
or being given the "privilege" of cutting the grass or working on a "quick-build" is really something special to a jw.

Chaperones.
Back around 1985 there was a group of 10 or 12 of us that wanted to go away for a ski weekend during the winter holiday break (Christmas). At 25, I was the youngest in the group. The oldest was probably 40 or 50. The problem was that we were all single. Aparently the elders were giving the organizers a hard time and telling them that the trip had to be cancelled unless a married couple went along.
WTF??
We all would have lost our deposits on the trip. And have had to stay home at that horribly depressing time of year.
We ended up having to sponsor the 20-year-old and his 18 year-old wife to be our chaperones for that trip.
Tell me. How is it that these teenagers qualified just because they were married? I thought it was absurb and I was too embarrassed to tell anyone about this silly religious rule, ever.
