does anyone need to become a member of a religious organization to have access to the "truth"?
i mean, i never did know anything about the bible haven't a jw knocked my door.
it's only when i've had my regular study that i became interested with digging the truth.

Robert, I find myself agreeing with frankie on this one. Everyone is different, but for some it is tough to make the adjustment to life outside. Freedom can be a scary place if you have few, or underdeveloped, coping skills.
Since most of my interactions with other people had been inside the Organization from birth on, I felt very awkward in groups of non-witnesses for a long time after waking up. I thought I knew how worldly people acted and reacted, what they liked and didn't like. Figured I could fit in no problem, just be like them. The shock of how very wrong I had always been was a lot to get past.
It has been worth the effort for me. I'm still tough for most people to take in anything but measured doses, but it is a lot better than it used to be. "Please shut up!" is like an a.k.a. now. And I have more genuine friends who know what a friend is than any one man has a right to.

well, its like this, for the past 3 years i've had this lump on my index finger of my right hand, hasn't really bothered me, but in the last month it really swelled up and became painful.
i reckon its a ganglion although the doctors are not sure, had it x'ray and the doctor at work says he doesn't think its anything "sinister" ....lol comforting!!.
anyway he says that because of the proximity of it, and it being close to the digital nerve, the surgery might be tricky, i need to be refered to east grinstead hospital, which is a few miles from here, and is a plastic surgery specialist centre in the uk.

honesty: I can see and feel the unconditional affection they have for me now since being set free from slavery to the WTBTS.
Maybe they sense that you are now capable of unconditional affection, for both yourself and others.

Point taken and very well stated. I see where my post made it seem like there were only two possibilities.
I was raising the question of motives more than trying to answer it. You raised some very valid possibilities. I think it is worth discussing. I will try to be more careful next time.

RescueMe: Personally I think that those with strong faith would keep their faith and maintain their beliefs, and they would just fall away from the organization itself.
RescueMe, that is exactly what would happen which proves that their purpose is knowing perpetuation of a falsehood.
But with what motive? To let us stupid sheeple contribute to providing a social club for each other? Or to fund retirement in a loving and caring environment right there at Bethel where they can all sit around and wax eloquent on the good old days when they still believed?
