i know i have been quiet for a while... i am sorry my friends, hopefully i will think of something meaningful to say again someday, something we can all discuss and enjoy.
things will never be the same again, and i hope that from this passing shadow to the next you find a piece of what you are looking for.. the tiniest things can make the most enormous differences.... i wish you all well.

Hello rune, from one who hasn't had the pleasure of meeting you yet. Welcome back.
along the lines of old soul's plea to afin, and afin's in abiltily to provide scriptual guidance/proof/support for old soul's questions; i began to think.. have you ever given guidance/support/councel with the written publications because there were no scriptures?.
when i was a mini-servant around 1984, there was a "brother" who would brag about his oral sex encounters with his new wife.
i knew it was "wrong" (also a little crude), but i coundn't find a scripture for the councel.
bethel minute: well since the FDS are a modernday prophet
As of 2002 they no longer claim prophet status, although they did claim prophet status for MANY years. (w02 10/1 p. 17 paragraph 22)
i guess his parents pulled the plug on his internet activities.
I know it can be a scary thought, but I also know from personal experience that reintegration does not remove the things you have heard or your memories of the kindness shown by those you have been told are "The Debil".
like i don't like that un involvment, record keeping.
i don't know what to think about the paedophile stuff, because you could accuse the catholic church of that too.
but apart from those things i still believe that god's name is jehovah, his son is jesus, no trinity, and he died on a torture stake... i love reading the new world translation, i believe it's the best one, but i love reading other translations too!
Okay AFIN, suppose the 144,000 is symbolic. How would you discern the meaning according to JW numerology (a symbolic system of numbers presumed to have real world significance)?
12 x 12 = 144
10 x 10 x 10 = 1000
(12 x 12) x (10 x 10 x 10) = 144,000
Now we have the parts. What do the parts mean? The Revelation Climax book says:
"2 signifies solidly confirming a matter."
"3 denotes emphasis. Also indicates intensity."
"10 signifies allness of completeness in a physical way, as to things on the earth."
"12 signifies a divinely constituted organization either in the heaven or on the earth."
We have 12 to the power of 2 times 10 to the power of 3.
Using your own numerology [divination] what does the number 144,000 symbolically signify?
find contradictions and loopholes in watchtower doctrines.
-accepting a blood transfusion is disowning the faith.
a man (or woman, if primary breadwinner) who fails to provide for his family is worse than one who has disowned the faith.
LOL! That's good. Choice material ...
May I use that?
some big fat liar made sumthin up again!
looky here what i went and found in the bible!
remember that little dove that desended down on jesus right after he was baptised by john?
Yes, they should be considered nicer than I do it......but I'm a pissed bastard cuz I'm positive it's a farce and I swallowed it most of my life.
So, you are okay with your being pissed keeping someone else from ever getting to where you are? Odd. Well, I hope you enjoy it enough to make the selfishness worth your while.
For what it is worth, I think you are a better person than you show here. I don't mind you being positive. But you become dogmatic when you assert your positivity on others. In this thread, you are the other side of the same coin. Whether the dogma is yours or theirs makes no difference. It is still dogma.
BTW, the accusations against the Bible as you leveled them in this thread don't prove a damned thing. Your hypothesis, one I actually agree with, regarding the imprisonment of John the Baptizer will never be anything other than a hypothesis. Especially is this the case if you are right, because you will never get to ask whether he was only imprisoned once. You may firmly convinced of the correctness of your viewpoint, but you have no real basis for dogmatic assertion of it to others.
Respectfully,
OldSoul
mtbatoon, how would you use the expression in speech? Can you give an example of how that is used? It is an interesting expression, if unfamiliar to me. I collect obscurities like that - well obscure from U.S. perspective anyway. I just like to make sure I use them properly.
Thanks in advance,
OldSoul
hi- i would like to know if anyone has any good scriptures that i could hit someone with when they say that they have to do whatever the elders tell them- even if they feel the elders are wrong and in error- they say the scriptures tell us to be obedient to those taking the lead.
they say we are to follow the elders instructions and if they are in error- jehovah will make it right.
i feel we should never blindly follow anyone.
After all - if you follow the counsel of men knowing that it may be wrong - then aren't you worshiping men instead of God?
Yes. That is the way I see it, anyway.

Yes, I am ashamed to say. Often. On many topics. Until I learned better, I crapped in my pants and walked around oblivious to the stench just like all the other Witnesses?.
