Eugenics, the foundational building block of "superior/inferior race" thinking. Ugh!

Watchtower Votes in United Nations Affairs
by Dogpatch inwatchtower votes in united nations affairs
after clicking on each one of those symbols listed and matching under the (watchtower) name, the reader found u.n. resolutions with a vote of (yes) located beside the words (voting summary) in scans #4 and #6. scan # 4 listed a vote of (yes) u.n. meeting no.
scan #5. if we had clicked on the 2nd un symbol that was located back on scan # 3, then we would come up with this page, which shows another (yes) vote by (total voting membership) or 015---------see scan # 6 (this scan)------------then scan # 7 will show what was voted on (found by clicking on (full english text) see this scan and last scan # 7----coming after this one.. .

Sorry to burst the bibliographic bubble, as this seems at first glance like quite the damning find.
You get the same results if you use only a "W" in the second field. The identical results are available if you enter any of the following: "walk"; "wither"; "wonder"; and even "we don't need no education". The WTS has never had voting authority with the UN, although there is some documentation that strongly suggests a WTS representative was named as an observer to the UN.
In my opinion, it is incredibly important that we try to destroy our own accusations and see if they stand the test of the same critical analysis we want to inspire in others.

How Do You Think The "War on Terror" is Going??
by minimus inare you feeling more secure since setember 11th ?

I'm a bit confused. Is it a war against terror, or a war, on the topic "terror." From the way things are going, I can't really tell.

Elsewhere or Anyone--need link to this
by love2Bworldly in"i even showed them the picture of elsewhere holding up the 1934 yearbook, the yearbook in which the wt society wrote a letter of support to hitler and blamed the economic troubles of europe on the jews and the anglo-american empire.".
i would really like to get my hands on some proof of this.
i am compiling a personal file of stuff against the wts.

Must Read!
by Non-JW inas a jehovah's witness you have been taught from the bible and the watchtower organization.
instead, you must trust what it tells you about its own false prophecies.
the watchtower organization tells you what to think and what to do.

Compiling List-Trivial Items People Are Counseled Against

i am compiling info of how people are treated within the wts.
i just read the post about a person being counseled for having baby shower games.

Star Trek was evil. Not because of the great story lines and extremely low production budget, but because Spock could "mind-meld" which was the same as the sin of divination for which one should be stoned to death, or some such. I explained that Spock was from a planet named Vulcan where the intelligent creatures bleed green blood.
I then asked where Vulcan was, exactly. No answer. I informed them that since Vulcan didn't exist, so far as we know, it was likely that Spock's race also didn't exist. In which case, imaginary Spock's imaginary divination could never be punished by any judgment and was therefore not wrong in the least, because everything wrong will come under judgment.
I love using their own kind of reasoning against them.

"They have NEVER lied"
by Robert_V_Frazier inin this post over at carm, http://tinyurl.com/84ntg a jw from australia who goes by the handle "corvus" made a rather audacious claim:[the society] have never lied to, mislead or decieved anyone - they have made mistakes.. .
in response, i listed four lies that the society has made, three of which are easily investigated and proven to be lies.
1) the cover story that beth-sarim was built to house resurrected old testament saints who were coming back in 1925, when in fact, the house was built to get rutherford away from bethel.

Robert_V_Frazier: I would like to know what other items anyone here can think of that the Society has ever taught in the past (remember, Corvus said that the Society has NEVER lied!) or is still teaching that must be factually considered lies.
Will we use the Merriam-Webster definition, or did you have something else in mind? Creating a false or misleading impression is a lie. There are hundreds of instances of this, including every individual reply to every request regarding the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society being an NGO Affiliate associated to the UN/DPI for nearly ten years.
If you add up each misleading reply about each topic asked over the years you could easily make the case that this organization is maintained entirely by an illusion of honesty created through intentional misrepresentation and deceit.
Main Entry: 3 lie (For the Web challenged: Choose the third entry from the list)
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): lied; ly·ing/ 'lI-i[ng] /
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English lEogan; akin to Old High German liogan to lie, Old Church Slavonic lugati
intransitive senses
1 : to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive
2 : to create a false or misleading impression
transitive senses : to bring about by telling lies <lied his way out of trouble>
synonyms LIE, PREVARICATE, EQUIVOCATE, PALTER, FIB mean to tell an untruth. LIE is the blunt term, imputing dishonesty <lied about where he had been>. PREVARICATE softens the bluntness of LIE by implying quibbling or confusing the issue prevaricate >. EQUIVOCATE implies using words having more than one sense so as to seem to say one thing but intend another <equivocated endlessly in an attempt to mislead her inquisitors>. PALTER implies making unreliable statements of fact or intention or insincere promises paltering with his investors>. FIB applies to a telling of a trivial untruth <fibbed about the price of the new suit>.I hope this helps.

Did Anyone Ever Find The Meetings Interesting???
by minimus inevery once in a while i enjoyed a public talk that featured a very good speaker.
most meetings i was thoroughly bored.
especially was i bored with the baby food pablum that was force fed to us.

Sometimes people would show up who talked during the meeting, or said "Amen!" throughout the prayers. Occasionally someone would fall or puke. Microphones dropping was always entertaining. When a tall speaker got sinking mic syndrome (the mic drifting slowly lower and lower as the talk progressed) that was amusing. The outspoken comments from those who had no filters always made me laugh. The speakers who couldn't speak, e.g. ob-STAK-uhls instead of OB-stak-uhls, were a riot. (Sorry, the unicode shwa wouldn't show up so I had to use the less correct "uh")
There were good things.

Attention all you wacky evolutionists!
by AlmostAtheist inevolution versus creation has been beat to death lately, this isn't another debate thread.
i wanted to showcase a hugely funny site i found when researching creationists' views.
note that i don't believe this site in any way depicts the beliefs of most creationists.
