my brother has *gasp* a worldy girlfriend.
he has a job, they both work there, met there, and now they are in love.
i think they have been together only a couple weeks.
I don't know what to tell you, except you need to make sure that they contribute financially, and that they aren't going to bring in anything to house that is unwanted, meaning drugs, etc, if she's only taking 1 class what is she doing with her time??

For years after I left, I collected all the books and magazines that my mom still sent my way. I put them in a box or drawer, left them unread but unharmed. I felt like for some reason I couldn't throw them away, they contained bible scriptures... but finally years went by and I looked at the stuff and realized it was just watchtower stuff, and it was so liberating to THROW IT AWAY...
Even now, if I happen across magazines, either in the store or waiting room, I grab them and dump them.

I haven't read a magazine in 10 years and think I would poke my eyes out if I had to read one. The magazines are so trivial it seems, and re-hashed, I mean the SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER... it's like beating a dead horse.
I had a very hard time reading them when I was a JW, it wasn't because I didn't have the "time" it was because they bored me to tears.

Take thick sliced bacon and put it on a broiler pan with holes in the bottom, the fat has to drain, then cover it with brown sugar, then put tiny crushed pecans on top. Then bake it at 350 for 30 mins or so... then broil it for like 1-2 mins to get it crispy.
You end up with brown sugar coated bacon that is all glazy and yummy and delish. That is the ONLY alternative.
for me it would be smoking, drinking, certain movies/tv shows and my favourite music (which includes eminem :p)

That story is untrue, you know how I know it's not true? Because you weren't at a real Krispy Kreme ordering the HOT and NOW donuts from the counter.
You being in a grocery store and shelved donuts jumping into your cart? Hardly believeable...
But if you were to drive by a Kripy Kreme with the sign lit up with the red neon blaring "HOT and NOW" and you pulled into the parking lot and parked your car... then I can imagine being tempted and the donuts literally hovering in mid air until they shoved themselves into your mouth, while the glaze was still hot and the donut was still warm, soft, and yummy.
Damn, then Krispy Kremes. They are literally an orgasm in your mouth. Your tongue has never has so much fun until you lick a Krispy Kreme.

i have a question for those who got married in a jw ceremony, or who became jws after being married.
did the elder marrying you, or those studying with you, counsel you as to what forms of sexual intercourse are acceptable within jehovah's loving organization(tm)?
just having a "discussion" of sorts on another board and i'm being challenged by a dutiful jw wife.
I was raised in the religion and was always told what was acceptable... I think being a girl the elder's wives and such tend to preach during service and really pound it into your brain what is good and what is bad.
Don't you all remember the scriptures about "keeping the marriage bed clean and sanctified" and stuff like "the natural use of the female" ... meaning the female body is built for sex in this certain way, which produces offspring, other "unnatural" uses of the female just lead to uninhibited pleasure and we'll have NONE of that!!!!
The "natural use of the female" bit used to crack me up.
I do know that MARRIED couples were all counseled back in the day. Probably 15 years ago, I had a friend who was married. There were 3 couples who all hung out together, and the wives pioneered and had babies, etc... they were all friends. Well, some elders wife got wind that the wives were performing oral sex... so all three couples were hauled into an elders meeting and all told NOT TO BE DOING THAT ANYMORE!!! I mean seriously, I can remember her telling me that the elders gave them specific directions not to be having any form of oral sex.
And about JWs having a good sex life???? I don't know that many that were all that happy. I knew 2 couples that slept in seperate bedrooms, they had their 1 or 2 token kids and then all moved into seperate bedrooms. It was sad, not common knowledge, but I knew about it.

Welcome. I have been away for 10 years but only recently started investigating and reading and learning the TRUTH about them. It takes a while, but I'm really hoping you find peace and learn to let go of all the guilt you have been carrying around.

Wow. All I can say is wow. I actually left 10 years ago but never spent anytime talking about it to anyone but my sister. My life has changed, but this board is addicting, it brings back a lot of memories and feelings about my past and actually explains a lot of unanswered questions. I'm really glad this board exists.

Best quote ever though was from my mother, she was complaining about needing some financial help and I said to her something about having a career and she told me that Jehovah has always provided for her and she didn't NEED my help, if she was starving Jehovah might even send her "potatoes from heaven" ... I think she was meaning like manna from heaven, but for some reason she really does believe that potatoes might rain down from heaven if she's starving. Of course one might hit her in the head, but let's not think rationally about that.
