I feel that way too.
I sent half the money I would have given if she had invited my husband.
But what excuse to I give when she asks me why I can't attend? I see her every day at work. Damnit I can't think of anything legit.
i am not quite sure of wedding protocols.
i mean since i am from costa rica and the weddings and parties are pretty much easy going in our culture i have always thought american wedding protocols were dumb.
the whole idea that the bride's family pays for the entire thing is unfair.

I mean since I am from Costa Rica and the weddings and parties are pretty much easy going in our culture I have always thought American wedding protocols were dumb. The whole idea that the bride's family pays for the entire thing is unfair. It matters not to me who pays for the rehearsal dinner or even IF there IS a rehearsal dinner. Who throws the shower and the bachelor party is also not an issue in my mind.
BUT!!! Who is invited seems to be of utter importance. For example: Isn't it rude to invite a married woman and not invite her spouse? I would think that it would be rude in ANY culture to do this. But, especially, in the American wedding culture with all its wedding rules.
My friend at work invited five ladies from the office and only invited US and not our spouses to her son's wedding. My spouse for one has actually hung out with her and her spouse. Granted, I didn't even expect to be invited at ALL. And I was surprized to get an invitation. But when it was addressed only to ME, I was shocked. Especially since I know how this person is and how SHE herself would be offended if the sitch were reversed. I can't help but feel that it was an invite for the gift only. And I know I'm being judgemental here and am probably wrong. But I just don't get it. If it was an issue of money, then why invite us at all? I mean it's not like we really even know her son. We have a relationship with HER, not her 20 year old son! And it's not like she's going to hang out with us at the wedding because she has a HUGE extended family. So I can't understand why she invited us at all????? Just to do it in what I think is a rude way.
Regardless, I don't want to go. But I don't know how to handle it. I don't want to hurt her feelings and I don't want to make an issue out of it. Any suggestions on how I can buck out and save face at the same time? It is a 1.5 hour drive away down the coast so it's not like I can make an appearance for the heck of it. I already sent a gift .... well I sent HALF a gift or, rather half the amount I would have given if she had invited my husband. Now how do I get out of going????
so my lovely wife still determined to give to the wts when she goes to the convention is pissing me off.
i looked in the .
check book and a checks missing.
I think you should keep the peace. Get on a budget and the amount she donates comes out of HER spending money. At least she will not be willing to give as much if she knows it's coming directly out of her fun money.
My husband and I have a budget. We each get $400 per month for ourselves after we pay bills and mortgage. I don't ask him where he spends his. He doesn't ask me where I spend mine. We have to buy our lunches for work out of this too and Starbucks. Believe me. At the end of the month when I've packed my lunch every day and he has spent his at Jack in the Crack, Del Caca and McDungolds ..... well, you get the picture.
many of us are aware of the stroke that raymond franz had yesterday,.
that he is on life support and it doesn't look like he is going to pull through.. someone on another thread mentioned if he didn't survive how many.
was planning on attending his funeral.. to me this deserves its own thread.. .
In addition, Cynthia may need some monetary help at this time. Someone close to them could open up a fund and we could deposit $1, $5 or $10 into it. Whatever. It would come in handy so she doesn't spend her last years on this earth missing her husband in poverty.

Would someone with some very good writing skills please draft something up. I would like to submit it to all of my local newspapers.
Also, where will the funeral be. I need to make arrangements.
Lastly, I don't think this would be a "witness" to anyone like you might think. All JWs are going to think is, "See how they follow the man of lawlessness....." That is not what this is about. It is about a man who deserves to be honored. PERIOD.
didnt think i'd say this, but i am.
maybe you newbies have no clue who i am, but i was absolutely addicted to this site for over a year.
now, i have no time for jwn.
AwSnap! You are the bomb!
One word of advice though: Give them the finger and tell them not to bother coming to your house. Just allowing the visit gives them this feeling of power over you. Whenever I run into a JW or elder or anything like your sitch, I tell then, "Nah, I'm too busy to meet with you. I know where to find you if I ever need to." I always have this really sweet smile when I say it and use my sweetest sugar pie voice too.
Plain and simple. And it feels SOOOOO GOOOOOOD! It's like saying FU with a sweet voice and smile on your face.
the 6th and final season of lost has been jam-packed with "reveals"!.
.
what is the secret of the island?.
I would definitely NOT suggest watching the last 3 episodes without watching the ones you have missed. It's totally worth it to seeit in sequence.
I think they answered a lot last night:
1. Who the blonde boy is that Sawyer saw.
2. Where MIB came from.
3. Where the "others" originated from
4. How MIB became the black smoke monster
5. Who "Adam and Eve" were
6. Where Jacob came from
7. How the well got there and who built it and why
8. What the origin was of the bright light at the wagon wheel
9. What the wagon wheel was and why it was there and who made it
....
How anyone can say it answered nothing or only one thing is beyond me.

Questions were answered last night about the origin of MIB/Flocke and Jacob. Did anyone notice they still haven't told us MIB's name???? Arrrghhhh!
The question last night left me with is what was the origin of the woman? Who put her on the island and who did she inherit the job of protecting the island from?
Can't wait to see it all come together.
i would just like some opinions on something that seems strange to me.
there is a man at my sons' school who comes every day to pick up his daughter.
he has always been friendly with me, and i am friendly back, which is fine.
It probably is some kind of attempt - but I can honestly tell you it sounds like one of the dumbest ones I have ever heard.
hahahahaha! This thread is really funny to me right now. And where did you people all get those wierd looking avatars?
what am i missing?
why are the illegal immigrants demanding their rights?
they're illegal, they don't have the rights of an american citizen because they are not citizens.
ROFLMAO!
