The offer that the WTS has made to you
by Bluegrass Tom inhere is something to consider in wts speak:
it takes about five minutes of time, a page from an encyclopedia and some electrical impulses passing between the ears to recognize that jerusalem was not destroyed in 607 b.c.e.
with a little more thought (and some arithmetic), it can be realized that this means that the 70 years of desolation never happened.

Not me....Don't want to live forever, don't want to be resurrected, have no desire to go to heaven. I just want to get it over with.

Tough day -- my mom died today
by cruzanheart inpoor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.
the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.
last weekend she actually looked a little better.

by Geraldine Fagan ("Forum 18," November 29, 2004)
Stavropol regional governor Aleksandr Chernogorov has linked Jehovah's Witnesses and Islamic militants as "destructive cults" at a major local conference on "Totalitarian Sects ? the Path to the Destabilisation of the North Caucasus". Chernogorov maintained that "Wahhabism" and "Jehovism" [a Soviet-era term for the Jehovah's Witnesses' faith] had infiltrated into southern Russia and were now "attacking those confessions which provide the foundation of civil peace" ? Orthodoxy and "traditional" Islam. Jehovah's Witnesses "think that this might be the beginning of something," local Jehovah's Witness representative Ivan Borshchevsky has told Forum 18 News Service. Recently, Jehovah's Witnesses have had increasing difficulties with the authorities. The Stavropol regional religious affairs official has declined to discuss these matters with Forum 18.
On local state television news on 28 September, the governor of Russia's southern Stavropol region singled out Jehovah's Witnesses and linked them as a danger with Islamic militants, at a major local conference on "Totalitarian Sects ? the Path to the Destabilisation of the North Caucasus". Both groups flourish in conditions of unemployment, corruption and crime, Aleksandr Chernogorov maintained.
According to his official website, Governor Chernogorov went even further at a working meeting convened in the spa town of Yessentuki in the wake of the Beslan atrocity. Chaired by President Vladimir Putin's then representative in southern Russia, Vladimir Yakovlev, its principal participants included leaders of the region's "traditional" confessions ? the Russian Orthodox Church, Islam, the Armenian Apostolic Church, Judaism and Buddhism.
During the recent years of economic and political reform, Chernogorov told the 9 September meeting, "destructive cults" such as "Wahhabism" [an all-embracing term commonly used for militant Islam] and "Jehovism" [a Soviet-era term for the Jehovah's Witnesses' faith] had infiltrated into southern Russia and were now "attacking those confessions which provide the foundation of civil peace" ? Orthodoxy and "traditional" Islam. The fact that this had gone unchecked testified to the flawed nature of Russia's 1997 law on religion, he maintained, leading Stavropol regional administration to take "several steps to curtail the activities of destructive sects, with the support of Orthodox and Muslim clergy." One example, according to Chernogorov, was the recent condemnation and dismissal of a number of imams with Wahhabi views by village assemblies. -

12,000-Year-Old Bones Found in Kansas
by hawkaw ini thought the following was an interesting story.
i note that it seems there are some in the world who use an accuracy error to completely discount the carbon 14 to carbon 12 ratio when dating materials.
please note that when reading the following story, the carbon 14 dating has a particular "accuracy error".

Doesn't surprise me any. I live in an area that has been occcupied since the glaciers retreated. I live on the edge of what was once a huge glacial lake that is now only 90 acres in size. I hunt for stone points and tools every chance I get. This area is littered with them. Last year I found 3 flint drills in the same spot. I have many different ball knives, large and small, among all sorts of other tools. I also found a nice stone hoe and a large game ball last fall.
I have one area I search that produces paleo era items every couple of years. The paleo were more nomadic than the later people and no one has yet found a paleo encampment....just miscelaneous tools. I also have a few spots that were definately villages. You can stand in one spot and find broken pieces all over the place. Old burial mounds and occupied caves annd shelters are quite common around here. I know of two untouched mounds that I go to on ocassion....just to sit and reflect. No one knows, but me and the farmer. I will never tell either....if anyone finds out, they would be dug up and examined.
Just from what I have found, it is fairly obvious to me that man has been here quite a long time. The evidence seems to suggest that the ancient people, such as the glacial kames followed the retreating glaciers up into the Ohio valley.
Some people came across the land bridge, but in my humble opinion, man was here long before that.

I can't get to grips with being shunned
by chuckyy inmy wife and i have been disassociated for about 2 months now.
every day in our small town we are being shunned by former friends.
one in particular annoyed me today.

Sorry to hear this Chuckyy and Chuckette,
I had been shunned by my family for the last 20 yrs. Only days ago did that wall come down. I respected their wishes and only checked in every 4 or 5 years. It was a tough thing to do, but since they lived out of state I didn't have to be exposed to shunning in some sort of public setting. I'm not sure what would have happened had we met in a store or something.
I also moved out of my home town and in 20 yrs I have never bumped into anyone from the old kh. Probably a good thing I didn't. I think the fact that I respected my parents wishes played a part in their decision to welcome me back into the family with no strings attached. I feel that if I had pushed them or confronted them, I would be limited to those 4-5 yr phone calls forever.
Shunning by so-called friends didn't bother me, but the hurt from losing my parents only got worse as the years went on. I love my parents so the hope was always there and I would have waited forever on them. As for the conditional friends....it would take a helluva lot of butt kissing and apologizing on their part before I would take them back.
I can't offer much advice, but try not to let it get you down to the point that it occupies your thoughts for any length of time. This is exactly what they want, and it's not good at all for your own self esteem. Don't give them any clue that it bothers you. If you run into someone in a store, don't go out of your way to avoid them. Say hi, and if they don't respond, say something like " Oh, I'm sorry, I mis-took you for a friend of mine", then just walk away.
Keep your chin up and try to look at it as if they did you a favor. They have opened your eyes and shown you the meaning of true friendship and love.....and they don't have it.

A side benefit to exiting the borg
by AK - Jeff inmy wife and i made the fade in the past year or so - a side benefit is now beginning to become apparent.
our adult daughter, who was somewhat estranged due to being df'd has come back into our lives.
[we never did completely shun her, as we never agreed fully with that, but it was always strained because we were under the guilt trip].

Babylonian Business Records
by VM44 ini have read that thousands of babylonian business records exist on clay tablets, and that these alone provide proof that the year 607bce is not what the watchtower claims it is.. since business is conducted on a day to day basis, these records should provide a continuous record of each babylonian kings reign.
is there a summary of the babylonian business records?
in particular, a timeline showing the number of business tables in existence corresponding to various kings and dates within a king/s reign?.

Regardles of how impressive the evidence it remains subservient to methodology and interpretation so this somewhat diminishes IMHO the pile of evidence to a little pile of evidence.
So then you agree? Our "little pile of evidence" is bigger than your pile of no evidence. At least you finally admit it.
Keep up the good work though......I haven't laughed this hard in years.
