  Another JW suicide

  i have just learned that there was another jw suicide in western washington (south king county) last weekend.

  the man was a young adult, in good standing, married and doing well financially.

  i can't reveal more, and this one didn't hit the news either.

  I was never depressive or suicidal but I do know what it is like to believe that you are a total failure as an elder and a husband, to believe that you will never get through Armageddon because everything in your life is a sham ,you think you can fool the brothers but Jehovah always knows the truth about you.

  It is a horrible guilt trip to carry. Your "Brother elders" are not who you can turn to.

  Thank God (literally) that I found the strength to extricate myself and get off the treadmill.

  My deepest sympathy to all that have lost loved ones so tragically.

  i just got out from jw bye a d.f.

  4 weeks ago after 44 years as an active jw.am i insane or why am i having that great feeling of freedom??

  i am sitting here infront of the computer having a cold beer and just enjoying life.shouldnt i be crying and having a depression sitting here in tears over missing all my jw friends that now are vanished??.

  The only word that truly describes this comment is ,Bullshit!

  Sorry, but if you had served on as many elder bodies as many of us have, in four different congs as I did ,you would realise that all of it is entirely human. If they get it right then maybe someone has some human insight. I have known a minority who were excellent men that I am still proud to have known , but too many are just rule code followers or carrying out their own agenda.

  Don't believe the propaganda , - its just not true!

  i guess it's time for me to tell my story on this forum.

  my parents came into contact with the "truth" during their engagement and so i was born into a borg family and quickly "assimilated.

  " the congregation i grew up in however had very liberal views on many subjects, such as higher education, secular careers, and the like.

  Hello Mack,

  Thanks for your story. Your comments certainly ring true with me. I was never at Bethel bur 24 years at elders meetings and all that came with it made me sick of the politics and in-fighting that goes on

  Everyone seemed to have an agenda. There is always the leader (not always the P O) then there is the one who is his best friend and always supports him , then there is the weak individual who goes with the flow because the others probably know best , and sometimes there is one like I became , who always disagreed and was regularly outvoted.. It is No Fun !

  Things are the same in the U K . ... keep posting.

  through all my years as a jw, i've always had trouble understanding the jw preoccupation with behavior modification; especially the teachings regarding ``stumbling.

  '' why is it that we are expected to pander to the lowest common denominator.

  i'm thinking in particular about the oft-used example that when we liberal northerners head south into the u.s. bible belt and encounter a jw who, influenced by local preguidices, abstains totally from alcohol.

  At Twickenham the diversion was the constant stream of jetliners flying over, due to it's proximity to Heathrow airport . The game was to decide which foreign airline colour was painted on the tail.

  Then those robotised water sprinklers that made their way all by themselves across the grass , or maybe just day dream that you were there to watch a game of football

  some time ago i learned of the un affair & saw the truth...i am fading away now so i have not been attending meetings regularly for some time, specially the book study.

  two days ago, i learned that a letter was read in my book study regarding personal attire, and it was said that one should not grow a beard (this letter was not read in any of the other book studies).

  they say you are not a good christian, you are not spiritual, if you grow a beard.

  Seek a meeting with your group study conductor. Ask him what is his game in reding "Letters" to the group in yout absence that directly concern you. Why did he not provide "Loving personal counsel" if he feels he has a point to make? I bet that he owes you shepherding visit.

  Then gently move the conversation on to some of the other stuff you can pick up on this board. You might even get him to think?

  Too bloomin much , thats what!

  Even if it did work out at the same as, say, a trip to the cinema, I still do not think we need to support the idle rich in this day and age.

  Mind you, I must accept that the TV pictures of thousands of people outside Buck House makes one realise that I am probably in a minority.

  How could have Rutherford been a 'drunk'?

  i feel that the apostate's claims that rutherford was a drunk to be far fetched.

  on the one hand, they claim that he was so drunk that the brothers at bethel shipped him to san diego to beth sarim, where he stayed drunk out of his mind, then on the other hand, they claimed that he ruled the society with an iron fist, that he was a dictator.

  no drunk could have ruled the society like a dictator.

  i am cassilines husband.

  i know cassiline has alot of friends that monitor this board so i thought i would post a surgery status on cassiline to let everyone who cares about her know how everything is going.

  first of all, i would like to say thank you to the owner of this board, friends and aquintances of cassinline, for all the help you have provided not olny for her but for others that are out there with problems who seek the assistance from people that have a similar state of understanding about the jw religion.

  Best wishes for a speedy recovery, from this part of the U.K . Sorry to hear of her surgery problems but glad that she is on the mend now .

  Tell her that we miss her posts, but hope that her extended recovery time will give her the opportunity to use the board.

  the km of november 1996 states:

  Thanks Lisa, I found it now.

  I recall when I was Cong Secretary that I would carefully monitor the contributions under the "New" W W Fund system and compare with the cong previous remittences for Lit and Mags . It was no where near the same and I would give a "Motivating Item" after the next Accounts Report.

  Incidentally, did not Charles Taze Russell once say something like "We will know that it is time to stop when the Lord stops supplying the money!"
