  Told my JW Story at AA Meeting

  i was invited to be a guest speaker at the saturday night aa speaker's meeting.

  this meeting usually has a large crowd and they get somebody with longtime sobriety to come up and tell his story of "what i used to be like, what happened, and what i'm like now" as an example for others.

  i'll have eight years in january, so i guess that makes me fairly longtime.. i told them:.

  i have received a reply from the society regarding this issue.

  I have received a reply from the Society regarding this issue. Sorry, no scanner but quoted below .There was just an introduction and concluding paragraph in addition to this :-

  "After looking into the matter when it was first raised, we found that none of the legal corporations used by the Governing Body in caring for the Kingdom interests own stock in Rand Cam Corporation or any associate company involved in developing the diesel engine in question. The facts are that two brothers originally involved in inventing and developing the engine made a private agreement years ago (of which we were not notified) to send a portion of any profits realized from the venture to the Watchtower Society as a gift for its worldwide work. Subsequently, circumstances required that rights to ownership and developing the engine be transferred to a holding company not controlled by them. The Watchtower Society was erroneously listed as a stockholder in information published by the holding company, and this error has now been corrected. Hence, the charge is totally false. Moreover, the Watch Tower Society has received no contributions as a result of the original private agreement between the two brothers."

  the 1995 edition of the "knowledge that leads to everlasting life" book states on page 122 paragraph 11: those living together as husband and wife should make sure that their marriage has been properly registered with the civil authorities.

  (mar 12:17) they also need to view wedlock as a serious responsibility.

  true, separation might become necessary in cases of willful nonsupport, extreme abuse, or the absolute endangerment of spirituality.. .

  I believe that ther has been a softening attitude towards marital breakdown in recent years. It used to be absolutely until death unles the other party committed adultery. (As per Jesus words )

  In recent times a longer list of acceptable reasons to seperate has been published and the phrase "Non Scriptual Divorce" has been used. This implies that you can have a secular divorce agreed by the State, so the couple can split but they are not free to remarry .

  Before writing her off as a crazy dub maybe we ought to recognize that she could have been in the right.

  Bullying and harrassment at work does happen and it can be very difficult to prove or find witnesses prepared to testify against their employer.

  The report says her case was not proven. It seems ill prepared, but that does not prove that her employer was completely right . I have had some family experience of this type of problem so perhaps I find it easier to accept that her case could have been justified.

  Glad you enjoyed it Scooter. Ice hockey is not very big in the U K . The nearest I have got is watching that film "Mystery Alaska" on TV.

  If ever you get to Europe, try a league football match for a similar atmosphere.

  I am impressed with your anthem. Most terrace songs here are unrepeatableand only two or three lines

  At odds of 14million to one against winning the Brittish lottery ? No thank you . Perhaps I am a pessimist with things like that but I can only see myself losing.

  Mind you, I have dropped the silly prejudice against fun things like the office sweepstake on the Grand National or the World Cup Football - and my premium bond won 50 last month - Highroller!

  Missing my granddaughter

  how do i get over a broken heart?

  my daughter, 25 a witness will not let me see my granddaughter anymore and she misses me and i miss her...i have been very ill and this is the worse thing on top of everything...how do you go on living and try to pretend this beautiful little girl dosen't exist?i need some help...thank you.... .

  I am so sorry to read of your plight . Although I am not a parent , I believe I can sympathise with you..

  Perhaps as time goes by, you daughter will become more reasonable. Dont stop trying to make contact and try to reach the little girl direct , one way or another . A court might give you legal rights , but you really need the co operation and warmth of your family.

  I know the Society have recently toughened up the stance against d/f relatives, if that is the situation in your case. But there will always be personal discretion and opportunity for some choice on your daughters part. I had a sister in our group once who I knew was seeing her d/f daughter and grandson . I decided to turn a blind eye because I could see that she needed the family support. Perhaps in a little while things will relax a bit - if you keep in touch.

  The People and the Dream

  I miss the dream of the future as well. Everyone had a personal dream of what the New World would be like . I could see myself working with Heavy Horses , the weather was always sunny and everbody got along fine.

  I miss the hope of seeing my mother resurrected .I miss the hope of never growing old .I miss the confidence that whatever bad thing happened in the world ,it would all be put right ,no more starving people,no more wars no more injustice .................

  I miss the "brothers" , to be honest I miss the status that I had as an elder, and preparing and giving talks .

  But it is no good living in a dream. It is not going to come true - is it?

  There is no Paradise Earth around the corner. We were duped into believing falshoods . and it is better to know that we had the courage to face the reality than it is to go on in cloud cuckooland

  I may miss the association , but I know deep down that I would rather here , talking through my computer to you, and speaking frankly and honestly - than mouthing rehearsed phrases at the Tuesday group study

  the bible says that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous.

  the jws apply this teaching as though the resurrection is an earthly one.

  Spot on , Funchback this teaching makes no sense at all . It was always something I struggled to understand but one day the penney dropped . It makes no sense because it is not true. That is the simple truth and I have never doubted it from that day forward.

  I still hear the comments from family members,when someone they like dies, eg Princess Diana, John Lennon etc

  "At least now they in line for a ressurrection.They might have never got the truth otherwise"

  Daft! wishful thinking.
