blondie’s food for thought, 11/03/2019 wt study article, jah values humble servants, september 2019. https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-study-september-2019/jehovah-values-his-humble-servants/.
opening comments/food for thought.
i first asked myself, why does the wts sometimes use the word “servant” then “slave”?
I think fastJehu has got it about right...
P 11) Each day, we have countless opportunities to show humility. Consider a few situations. When we receive counsel. We do well to remember that if someone takes the time to offer us correction, we have likely strayed more than we realize. At such times, we may find that our first inclination is to reject the counsel. We might criticize the person who gave it or the way he said it. But if we are humble, we will strive to regain our balance.
12 A humble person appreciates counsel.
So if I am given counsel that is inappropriate or wrong, I should just take it .."Thank you Bro"
Perhaps I could write and offer constructive counsel to the GB ? ( most of them could improve in speaking ability) .....Do you think they would appreciate it? No, neither do I.
"Moreover, in the past several years, many in the Bethel family have been reassigned to the field. Others have had to discontinue special full-time service because of health problems, family obligations, or other personal circumstances
16 Such adjustments were not easy for these brothers and sisters to make. ................. In time, though, they were able to adjust. Why? Above all, because of their love for Jehovah. They knew that they were dedicated to God—not to a work, a title, or an assignment. (Col. 3:23) They are glad to continue serving Jehovah humbly in any capacity. They “throw all [their] anxiety on him,” knowing that he cares for :/ them.—1 Pet. 5:6, 7."
Is that humility or a self righteous determination to be obedient no matter what?
Reminds me of "Animal Farm" when Boxer the cart horse met every setback with his motto " I will work harder"..... They worked him to death in the end..
Thanks Blondie for the review.
there will be an update/change in the od book coming soon.
i have it on good word that this change in the od book has already been pushed out & notified to the “higher ups”.
newwww light!.
I was surprised that I could read that book on line. In my day it, or the then current equivalent was kept secretly for the use of baptised publishers .... I believe you were presented with your copy after baptism.
The times they are a changin' .....
this week's study ( no.
88) on the illustration of abraham and the begging lazarus and the rich man, all dying, in heaven and hell fire.
the bible stories, convoluted as they are, even more pretzelled by wt.
The WT simply applies the illustration to the rich Pharisees of Jesus day and the poor man as the common people and suggested a coming change of circumstances.
We used to be told that "Churches " used it to support a hell fire doctrine. Logic and reasoning would show such an application to be wrong.
What was Jesus really saying? ..... search me, I am no scholar and those that are , do not agree.
do not agree.
our goal is to help our bible student to grow spiritually.. .
as his love for jehovah grows, however, he will likely begin to think about how he can help others, including those who are already part of the congregation.

WT Book Ch 18 "Gods Kingdom Rules " 2014
8 Jehovah’s people do not beg for money. They do not pass collection plates or send out letters of solicitation. Neither do they use bingo, bazaars, or raffles to raise money. They hold to what the Watch Tower long ago said: “We have never considered it proper to solicit money for the Lord’s cause, after the common custom . . . It is our judgment that money raised by the various begging devices in the name of our Lord is offensive, unacceptable to him, and does not bring his blessing either upon the givers or the work accomplished.”*
i was a jw from infancy.
we had a melting pot type of congregation.
i grew up with all types of witnesses , all with different backgrounds.
One good thing I have seen is that they are free of racism. The inter congregation rancour that Min described is typical of two congregations sharing. The bodies often fall out . It would be the same if the second one was white.
i haven’t been on here in awhile and this is my second user name because i was busted by my pimi wife on the first one.
i have been basically awake since 2013. i have a super dub wife that i love and don’t want to lose and my sick mom in the hall that is a true believer.
stupid religion has gotten between my wife and i (of course).
Hello Mate, I was once where you are.. elder, WT O/seer ,Secretary etc...with a committed wife.
In my view you have to come off and the sooner the better you know you shouldn't be there. I had to take time to prepare the way ,and it was hell.
Try and get them to remove you. Perhaps your wife will swing around to your side ... as a " victim" .Mine did and our married life has been much better ever since. Once out you can give her more time and relax a bit.
I still attend some meetings .That is no fun but ... hell, I have done it most of my life , no big deal.
I wish you well.
seems like the genesis song jesus he knows me.. g.. https://www.jw.org/en/library/videos/?applanguage=e#en/mediaitems/latestvideos/pub-jwb_201910_12_video.
Like ToesUp I thought of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Not patch on them though are they? And they had classic traditional songs.... and they have been going for a hundred years...
u.s. supreme court rejects appeal by jehovah’s witnesses of 2015 california trial court ordersan diego, ca, october 24, 2019 --(pr.com)-- on october 7, 2019, the u.s. supreme court rejected the petition for writ of certiorari filed by the watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. (“watchtower”), requesting that the supreme court review a case filed by the zalkin law firm in 2013. in the case of jw v. watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. et.
al., the riverside superior court of california awarded the plaintiff, “j.w.,” a judgment of $4,016,152.39 plus interest at 10% per year after terminating watchtower’s defense, because it refused to obey the court’s order to produce files of known child molesters within the jw organization.
in 2018, the fourth district court of appeal in california upheld that decision.
They used to enjoy boasting about their ' God given' Supreme Court victories that gave them freedom to preach......
I don't suppose they will want to talk about this one .....
a former member said that elders told a relative of his after she was dfed that they would not be praying for her.
is that some kind of policy, or were they just doing their own thing in that instance?
taot.
Back in the day when I was an elder we were friends with a "sister" who had a grown daughter who was d/f'd. She confided one day that the worst thing was she could not even pray for her.
I told her that no man could tell her what to say in her prayers....they were between her and the Almighty. I knew what the WT had said but it never seemed right to me.
