  well, this week marks two years since i stopped going to meetings!!

  my last book study, i got up and walked out becasue i disagreed with the conductor about the whole pedophile, child rape thing.

  Well, I love having the time to enjoy breakfast with my family, we relish Sunday mornings with no pressure and love taking the time to sip latte's when ever we can.
  BTW, I have just started to study Clinical Hypnotherapy......how will that go over when it becomes public knowlege?

  You do an awesome job, your web-site has so much useful information, I don't know why they would even bother trying to argue such a useless point.
  
  Need I remind you again: you are new, welcome. So you don't attend any more. Stick around, read heaps more stuff. Get your self a copy of Crisis of Conscience, I bet the longer you remain a member of this board the more you will learn of the inconsistencies within the JW religious [not spiritual] belief system.

  as an elder?.

  what i am asking is this- if you understood that elders were named in the lawsuits, and .

  I think that as an elder you would need to have some kind of indemnity insurance! What kind of insurance does the "mother" carry? They insure all the K Halls dont they? Perhaps they could then supply all the elders molestation indemnity policies. Required on accepting the great mantle of eldership.

  Follow the mothers instructions, deal with these "cases" as they tell you, do not allude to the "mothers" involvement in any correspondence, take it up the ass when it all goes belly up, lose you home, and probably family by that stage, there is now no such thing as "ecclesiastical privelege" and then mother WILL hang you out to dry, you lose your eldership, get treated like a leper by the loving congregation.............................................................

  Silly baptism stories?

  a thread on baptism made me think about this.

  i remember at a circuit assembly there were about 15 people getting baptized.

  there were 2 "dunkers" in the pool.

  I did the dunking one year. Wow!!! I felt at the time it was a huge privelege. I had one toe come out of the water, had to do em again. Yep the watchers were watching. I guess John the Baptist had to be that carefull too!
  
  The next year I was trying to get back into the same detail, but couldn't. Hard clique to crack, but wouldnt you know it, the TV news people were there. They used the footage gathered for a story on Pedo's and the dubz and they guy in the clique who had "my" spot was absolutley full front face on the TV story!!!
  
  Was I sure glad that I didnt get that gig!
  
  When I got baptized, I had an attack on nerves. I was 14 years old, my mother thought it best I get dunked, so I went through all the questions. At the assembly on the day I was soooooooo sick, I didn't get much of the talk, I was in the toilet chucking my guts up. I was looking for our PO to tell him I was backing out, but couldn't find him. So in I went. I must've known something all those years ago!

  Scanning the Obituaries for lost loved ones

  am i the only person here who scans the obits in their 'home town' paper for the names of lost family because you know you would not be notified of their passing?

  afterall, god forbid that you show up at their funeral and ruin it with your apostate presence.. just wondering....

  The dubs in our area are not big on obituaries. Maybe the immediate family place them in the newspaper, but the rest of the cong avoid it like the plague. Too tight fisted?
  A non-dub would wonder if they had any friends at all.

  went to the chemist the other day parked near my brother in laws car in car park.he saw me and turned away.my wife went into chemist had to wait 10 minutes all the time my elder brother in law sat in car.we moved closer to supermarket as soon as we had moved i watch him go into chemist he was waiting for us to leave so he could go in.. i then went into supermarket i watched him do a whole lap of the car park walking so he wouldn,t have to walk past my car with wife and kids in.

  he thought the coast was clear didn,t know i was in there so i ambushed him in an isle smiled said hello he smiled said hello then the jw shunning part of his brain kicked in head down walk straight and frown.. saw my mother in car latter and she covered her face .

  i think they feel uncomportable.

  Hi Winnie,
  I take it your not DA/DFDed? Sounds typical of what we experience too. My own brother accused us of not treating JW's well. Huh!! I must've missed that one. I pointed out to him that where we see them we always say hello, so who knows where he gets his info. Perhaps that is what he means. We go up to them and talk to them and they are "uncomfortable" with it and so we are mistreating them by not "respecting" them enough to NOT talk to them. When it comes to family in your experience, I wouldn't be able to control myself, I would have to be in their face!

  Funny story about a funeral

  my uncle died last month (father's side), so i mustered up the courage to attend the funeral; he was never baptised and i was never disfellowshipped so folks still talk to me thinking i'm da not realizing i'm a full flegged apostate-this has since changed as i've decided to come forward since then.

  so the elder gets up and gives the funeral sermon complete with many of the bible myths talking snake and all... sounds like a damn bad acid trip.

  so after the graveside service one of my old friends i haven't seen in 17 years comes up and says "did you learn anything by todays sermon'?

  We had a funeral here, when we were still "in". The lady had died and she was like a mother/grandmother to everyonein the cong. BUT she had a daughter who was DFed.
  There was this over officious elder who had just moved in and the co was present too. Did they keep tags on the whole "servant" body to ensure that no on went near the daughter or the refreshments served later where she would be present!
  What a most "unchristian" affair that was. A time when a bit of compassion could/should have been afforded to someone who needed it. At the time I was still an elder, I did manage a hand shake and tell her I was sorry for her loss. She didnt want to let go of my hand. I felt low that day. A definite turning point.
  
  Thats why I love the way dawg handled it. Having the guts to say what you feel.

  What i miss from being a dub

  these are the things i remember always looking forward to as a dub and when they happened it was great.. last day of convention/assemblyend of the meetingend of the ministrywhen an event was interrupted thus endingif i had a responsibility to escape the mind-numbing boredomif a visiting speaker failed to make it for the sunday meeting and it only included the watchtowerwhen the sunday watchtower was just question & answer cos of the c.o visit, pity he then wasted all that saved time.no ministry after sunday meeting cos of some reasonwhen i faked illness or even death to get out of meetings/ministry etc

  Yes this was great...except when the wt conductor then thought he had licence to then take as much time as he wanted, like we all paid for two hours and thats what we are gonna get!!!
  
  Or [and I did this once] a suckey elder quickly volunteers to drag out an outline and give a talk off the cuff!!
