Yes. For those raised as a JW, zealous in their belief, we have no idea of knowing who we really are or what greatness we may have achieved. We were not given the opportunity to set goals and take on challenges because our life belonged to the society. We know nothing of the world we have been taught to both hate and fear simultaneously.

I'm still trying to let go. It isn't easy
Don't let it go. No need to be overbearing but genuine concern isn't being overprotective - it's a good feeling to know that even when you are older, mom and dad care enough to worry. There will come a time that mom and dad won't be there for them to hear those words and they'll miss them. sammieswife.

What Do Men & Women Want From Each Other???
by minimus ini recently read of a survey regarding unhappy wives.
it seems that nearly most women wouldn't do it all over again with the same man.
they were unhappy for various reasons.

we can thank Clinton for making it a NON sex activity
I can't buy into that statement - sorry. Look at the MTV videos - check out the lyrics of the songs that a lot of youth have been listening to for years..it's all about casual sex, drugs and violence. I can recall having this conversation with my coworker years ago when a poll was done asking teenagers if they considered oral sex to be actual sex - answer - 80% of them answered no. This isn't the fault of a politician, its the fault of parents, artists and society as a whole. How many people sit down and actually talk about this with their kids? I only know of one woman and she had to down a few beer just to open up the conversation.
I think men and women cheat on average the same percentage but I also think that they do so for sometimes different reasons. I also don't believe that everyone does cheat while in a relationship. It's all about respect. sammieswife.

The more expensive house: Vinyl or Brick?
by YoursChelbie inthere is a significant difference in the prices of houses that are built of brick exterior to comparably sized ones with vinyl exterior.
i assumed brick costs more because it's more durable, but was surprised to find that brick houses such as the one i chose at random pictured here for sale in texas actually costs over 50k dollars less than the one with the vinyl exterior in the far northern us.
both have four bedrooms.

Bear in mind as well that there are many houses that are only 'faced' with brick, but have siding on all other sides of the house. Thus the appearance of brick at street level...sammieswife.

I can say that I honestly thank God that I never had to face such decisions but I have worked with people with mental and physical disabilities, some extremely severe to the point of no vocalization nor mobility. As far as I know, the parents did nothing legally wrong because the operations were authorized by the medical comunity Ethics Committees. As for moral or ethical rights - I'm torn but I will say that I tend to believe that unless someone has lived with/worked with/mentored/volunteered etc with some of these special people, they cannot understand why these decisions would be made. My understanding is that the parents want to keep her at home as long as they and she are alive and the only way to do that is to somehow control her physical growth - they are trying to protect her in the only way they can. I understand that. Society does not always care about nor care for the less fortunate or the less able - point to many of our elderly who are warehoused, so I feel for anyone trying to do what they think is best, because they will be kicked for trying to keep their child at home and safe or they will be kicked for institutionalizing that child and costing the taxpayer money or charged by society for abandonment. I applaud all of those who dedicate their lives to helping people live productive lives and who provide encouragment and support for all to meet their full potential. sammieswife.

Ongoing 'Don't shun me' campaign.
by AK - Jeff inas many of you know by now - i do not tolerate 'shunners'.
i have done no evil, killed no one, never raped or pillaged any witnesses.
i do not tolerate small-minded witnesses who called me 'brother' for most of 40 years, now acting as if i am no better than sh*t on the bottom of their shoes.

There have been a number of cases where a customer has won a case against a company ie: store, for that customer not being served or service not being provided because of religious conviction. I'm thinking of pharmacists who don't want to sell birth control pills for example. I'm also thinking of the woman somewhere on the East coast, who was shunned by the people in the town she lived in and she ended up suing the store that would not serve her. She won.
Keep up the good work. sammieswife.

Women are in subjection to their husbands and to the Elders!!!!!
by Gill inthe february 15th watchtower 2007, is spectacularly nauseating!!!
at least i found it so.. i would welcome the opinion of all on the board to this sentiment on page 19, paragraph 8 and9:.
'although subjection can be challenging, women can welcome it as honorable, even as did jesus.

Are you sure that the GB haven't been in some heavy talks with the rulers of the Taliban? I swear that if the GB had their way, women would be covered head to toe, walk quietly, whisper when spoken to and never leave the house unless accompanied by a man. I have no doubt they would include in that, the right to stone the members in accordance with whatever scripture they choose to back it up with from the OT. Perhaps the aim of the society isn't to expand its membership, rather perhaps by making their world smaller and controlling it more, they can actually divest all the property and other assets they have and the remaining GB can live out their lives in great comfort still supported by the remaining faithful few. If I really believed in Satan, I'd say he's got the watchtower society in his jaws and he's having a feast! sammieswife.

Feb 15, 2007 WT Article: Women: Obey Your Hubbies!!
by Mary inpage 18 is the pathetic craptower article, telling women (who have apparently gotten above themselves) that they must be "obedient" to their husbands.
the entire article is nauseating, and obviously written by bitter old men who have major issues with the opposite sex.
i'm not going to write the whole thing, but here's a few 'highlights':.

sammielee24
I hope all these articles will be used against them in a court of law at some point, when a woman, using the direction of the WTS in their article (which are in effect rules of behaviour you must follow) returns home and ends up dead. And I hope they pay until they are bankrupt. This story reminds me of the one I'm sure we've all heard about the sister who was faithful in the congregation. Everyone knew her unbelieving husband was beating on her and badly, before every meeting, but of course she remained with him, submissive. He took out a gun and shot her in the face permanently blinding her in one eye amongst other things. The man eventually started going to meetings and came into the 'truth'. She was held up as a model for others - by God! she almost got killed and look! now her husband has become one of us! What's a few beatings compared to her suffering? Won't you do it for Jehovah? ......hope we can get a scan of the article........sammieswife.

Again, the Witnesses would say that you can't prove that, and they are always right. But....
S4
Yes..just like it wasn't their fault that he overdid it by helping out even though its been drummed into their heads that even if they are sick they should get up and get out in service because they shouldn't dwell on their illnesses. Even though they direct the brothers and sisters to choose the meetings rather than work the schedule they've been given so that they end up under more stress and financial struggles; even though they insist that education is really part of satan's world and it's better to be poor and a witness than rich and a Christian...even though they insist you give up vacations to sell their magazines and hand you a pen to sign your will on your death bed - yep...not their fault..they only tell you what the bible says - must be a misinterpretation on your part if you end up sick, dead, uneducated, alone and poor. sammieswife.
