one of my former bs conductors and her husband decided when they got married, they wouldn't have any kids 'in this system'.
i know the world could be better, but i see no reason not to have children if that's what your wishes really are....and you're able to for that matter.
she just turned 34 and really wants to have a child.
I had lots of friends while in the org. that are holding out to have kids until the 'end of this system'. Hilarity ensued when one of the couples got knocked up because they used 'family planning' as birth control. When the husband found out his wife was prego he got completely shitfaced out of his mind and spent the next day puking his guts up.
I think them accidently having a child will be a blessing in disguise though years from now. Im actually really happy for them.

i know this because i am remembering things that i use to fear.
here are some examples of irrational fears that i had:.
I often drempt of having to answer some skill testing questions in a concentration camp in Armageddon and when I got the answer wrong ( I always did) some naziesque figure would blow a family members head off.
I drempt of fireballs screeching from the heavens and destroying worldly families sometimes. Birds tearing the flesh from the faces of my friends, ect.. typical kid stuff.
More recently though I've had this recurring dream of beating the hell out of an elder in my last judical committee meeting. He just kept asking so many personal questions over and over (just like in real life).. the stress was unbearable so I just let loose and beat him to a pulp right there in the back room, everyone in suits. Im not a violent person at all either. I think the last meeting I had with those guys was pretty traumatic.

what about it...i know for me i got gifts throughout the year but i didnt get as many as my friends did on their birthdays etc....what about you...do you or did you replace b/days and christmas gifts or celebrations with anything else whilst being a jw and in particular anything as personal....
My parents never got me shit. LOL.
over the weekend my cousin came to visit from mi, and her husband (elder) started to do his shepperding thing with me (have not attended meetings for over 1 year), and made a compeling argument about how the holy spirit is given by god only if you attend meeting and go to field service...etc, etc.
and the whole "faith and works" issue.
it was a different angle that i have never heard before, about me being a "instrument or tool" of god...blah, blah, blah... anyhow, it got me thinking about going back...especially when things are not going to well for me right now... (he said its because i left jehovah).. how can i convince myself that this is not true?
I don't think a person really has a reasonable option to go back after they find out the truth about that religion, if you have any sort of conscience or empathy. The only excuse for going back is either you have not properly educated yourself about the movement or you have not made any progress in your life since leaving and you are using it as a crutch, IMO.
when i read some comments here, it seems that some can be so full of themselves that if they are disagreed with, they will mock, castigate, or be elitist with their condescending opinions.

at whatever age you were, did you really know what you were getting into?
I was 13 and born a true-blood dub. I felt I had a relationship with Jehovah and that baptism was the next logical step. I trusted that my parents had made the proper choice in religion and I wanted to make God happy. Years later I realized in horror that my entire world was bullshit and that I needed to make choices based on evidence.. even though that has meant losing all my JW friends and totally starting over.

ok ... to me it's not totally related to jw life actually, i'm here because i'm used now to chat with people (you know like you go into a cafe and share wathever you want with whoever as this board is very rich and full for immediat interaction), support them, get some support ... i just like that ... also of course it's very interesting at the same time to follow some news and get information that i might spit back to my familly in time to wake them up .... what about you ?
I find it really refreshing to be able to speak my mind and not to be condemned for it. I'm still developing my own personal belifes and its nice to be able to talk about them when I feel like it. I like learning about the origins of the Bible from a not-so-funamentalist viewpoint.. Im reading a lot of books as well.
Plus, you guys are all so damn cool..

for me, it was probably that damn pink great teacher book.
The 'Revelation Climax' book and the new 'Proclaimers' books both deeply scarred my tender psyche. The Revelation book for being the most circularly drempt up pile of shit ever forced on innocent minds since the prior Revelation book, and the Proclaimers book for claiming to be a candid look at JW history but turning out to be a whitewashed glossed over heap of lies and ommisions.
during class the teacher asks "who all plan to go to college?

i personally feel they will have to "adjust" the fds doctrine.
the tricky thing is that the fds (whoever they are) won't approve this change while they're still alive.
they don't care, they subconsciously feel it's their end anyway and they won't undermine their doctrinal position having lost all corporate power.. so who will send this beam of new light?
Hey no apologies, I think you have pretty much nailed it. They will have to find some way of getting rid of the idea that there will be some 'anointed' still on earth when the end comes because that is already completely absurd.
