I really liked In Search of Christian Freedom too. Especially his explanation of why the whole 'Faithful and Discreet Slave' interpretation by the WTBTS is complete bullshit.

they are changing long time policy and trying new ways of getting their religious product to the market.
no longer do their leaders hear the voice of god and then pass it directly on as unwavering guidance to their customers.

Do you know of any "apostates" or "evil slaves" that went back to JW's?
by booker-t ini remember years ago when i was a "devout" jw there was a co-worker of mine that spent every waking minute trying to convert jw's to born-again christianity.
i was abit afraid of him because i thought he was demon-possessed.
he had all of the old wt publications and spent many hours debating with jw elders.

CoC and Search of Christian Freedom came yesterday in the mail
by ithinkisee intime to swallow the red pill.. right now both books remain unopened - sealed in the amazon.com box buried in a backpack in the trunk of my car.
i feel like i'm smuggling drugs or something.. i'll be starting coc tomorrow ... .
this is more of a vanity post than anything.

I also ordered my copies of those two books from Amazon. Fortunetely I'm single so I just had them delivered to my appartment. I remember after reading the chapter on "Double Standards" and the Malawi bullshit that I just had to put the book down and pace around the house to calm down. There is no way in my mind a sane person could continue as a witness after reading those books.

Tough day -- my mom died today
by cruzanheart inpoor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.
the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.
last weekend she actually looked a little better.

What I remember from 1975
by Big Dog insince i am sort of late to the party this has probably been beaten to death and if it has just kick this thread to the curb.
i was 11 years old in 1975 and i remember being scared silly the whole year.
i mean there was so much hype about it and the tension in the air was so thick it was unreal.

Thats the scariest thing about new converts now-a-days. Most of them don't have any idea about any of these false prophecies.. I was one of them, born in 1977. My parents never even talked about it. Fortunetely we have the internet to find this stuff out but otherwise we wouldnt know shit. I never even knew who Ray Franz was till a year ago.
