if not, where in their material does it instruct them not to?
how far back are they "allowed" to research?
you can't just show up at a JW assembly with swim trunks and say that you want to be baptized.
Isn't it against bible principles if one is not allowed to do this? How about the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8? He got baptized only a few minutes after he learned about the good news. Acts 8:36 In light of this chapter in Acts, it seems strange that a person has to go through so much study and questioning before he or she gets baptized.

if women (on average) were as physically strong as men would they be responsible for 50% of the above or is it something to do with men?

I second that. It's just that women, especially in the old days, didn't have a chance to climb to a high position. Take a look at the world 100 years from now, and women will do all those things. They will order the use of weapons, they will start wars..
However, I disagree with sith. Although it is true that most great artists are male, this has nothing to do with the fact that they are better than women. It's just that they have had more chances to expose their works to the public. I am a (female) poet who has won several awards of excellence in writing, as well as a gold star and a gold quill (and I'm not talking about scams like poetry.com who will give everyone an award, telling them that they are the best), I'm talking about the more prestigious poetry places. See, my name is Chris, which can easily be confused with the name of a male. I honestly don't think that I would have the same amount of awards to my name had my name been Martha. That is just a fact, sadly..

can anyone tell me the date when the wt teaching of fds's appointment over master's belongings became an official doctrine of the society?
was it a new 'truth' revealed in a wt circa 1914/19, or was the doctrine developed piecemeal in hindsight because subsequent events seemed to indicate it?

This "House Of Princes" was built as a home for the faithful people of old (Moses, Abraham, etc..), so that they would have a place to live upon their resurrection. This group of christians "published" something about Beth Sarim in 1942, speaking of "publishing" bible truths. When the faithful ones of old didn't return upon the expected time, the house was sold.
This group of christians also "published" too many hints about 1975 being the end, and many poor misled souls changed their lives accordingly, so that they would have time to reach as many people as possible with the good news of God's fast approaching kingdom. When nothing happened, this group of christians published an article which put the blame of this misunderstanding on its members, not on themselves.
This group of christians also published too much new light on 'this generation' to a point where it was no longer something that a rational thinking human being could believe.
This group of christians has no proof that Jesus approved of them when he returned. Heck, they don't even have proof that he returned.

we are now approaching the year 2005, i am again going to all the meetings and most of my friends are jw's.
however, i don't feel that 'love' for god, and i certainly don't feel that he listens when i pray, which i do every day.
after talking about this with an elder, he suggested i study some more, and i am currently studying the book 'worship the true god'.
Perhaps one thing missing for me is congregating with others who share my love of the simple truths of Christianity.
So true, jaffacake. I think about that often, and might actually join a church. The problem is that, in any church, there will always be something we have a hard time with or we can't agree with. Recently, I've been checking out the international bible students. They have a huge website and I've been reading a lot about their doctrines and such. I actually might put up a post about them, because there are so many things I don't understand about them. Here is a link, you might be interested. They don't have a "church", they are just a group of people who study the bible in their own time and at their own pace.

since the last 6 weeks, we had about 5 nice sunny warm days....the rest of the time it was cloudy, cold, windy and rainy..... i think this mean weather originates from wisconsin.....
I hate to say this, but I'm just about on my knees, praying for rain. We've had an unusual nice spring with just one week of rain. Right now everything is dry, dry, dry here in the Adirondack valley. We usually go from winter right into summertime, so actually seeing springtime for a change is wonderful. In the area where I live people say that there are only two seasons, July and wintertime, which is SO true. Although the sun is out, it is still freezing every night, we even had temperatures in the teens the other night, which killed off many plants. They promised that we would have rain today and tomorrow, but the sun is out again.

Most "true believers" claim they have the truth and are free. So Alan will say his "turth" has set him free and another "truth" will set someone else "free".
So true. It is with freedom as with so many other concepts, there is no established definition which applies to every person. It is a matter of personal perception. I am not free (in several aspects of life, not just religion). Perhaps we are bron with it, just like we are born with blue or brown eyes.
JAVA, interesting thoughts. The garden of my -or anyone else's- past will never be weed free, but it's a matter of not looking back and staring at the weeds I think. I am hoping to find what I'm looking for 6 months from now, and at this point in time, I am looking for several things, including my spirituality.

pistoff, I like your name! That 'look' when you do show up.. oh yes, I remember that 'look' from the memorial this year. As for the friends, it is one thing I have a hard time with. I don't believe for a single second that God doesn't approve of friendships between JWs and non JWs or ex JWs. I understand that they are trying to remain loyal to Jehovah, but being a friend to someone who has wandered off to try out a different road in life is a noble thing and there can't possibly be anything wrong with that. It makes me mad sometimes. Although most of my 'friends' were JWs, I never gave up my friendships with people who were not in the org, because I really didn't think it was wrong to hang out with my 'worldly' friends, they are all good people.
