That is so sad, Gill. It is like losing a friend. I have a feeling that you might find some comfort at the following site, it is a board for people who are dealing with the same kind of loss as you are.

Are their Any benifits to Churchgoing....even if you disbelieve?

I know of more dubs that have died while at "church service." A governing body member collapsed on stage I believe....was it swingle? I don't believe that statement you heard to be true.....but I DO believe you heard it
No surprise there. If you're in "church" 5 hours a week, as opposed to 40 minutes a week, statistically it greatly increases your chances of dying there.

Where did God go??
by fairchild init has been over 10 months now since i stopped going to the kingdom hall.
i had imagined how i would really find my way to god now that i was no longer being misled by the wts ( for - profit) publishing company.
i kept reading the bible, because people on jwd had told me how i would see it in a different light.

You are in fact an immortal creation having a human experience, or at least dreaming that you are. This earth is not your home.
This is a truly comforting thought, but again.. it is a theory without proof. Just like God is a theory without proof.
How would you feel if you ;became aware that you are god(like)?
I don't think I can answer that. In my understanding of the word "godlike", no human will ever be that way.

Will all stoners please return to the proper thread.
Dang, and I thought it was just getting fun.
On a more serious note.. as suicide was mentioned a few posts ago.. can anyone answer this question for me.. How many people (including the JWs) say that "God will not put a heavier load on us than we can carry" I have always wondered.. if that is true, then why do people commit suicide? Don't they commit suicide because they are too burdened by their misfortunes? Once again, to me this points away from God's existence.

I believe that we all have our purpose in life and have our "hour" when we die... thats why act such as suicide is considered very much a violation eversince you chose your own time to die.
Personally I believe that suicide is included in our destined hour to die. I don't think we "choose". I don't think we ever have a choice regarding the hour of our death, just like we don't have a choice regarding the hour of our birth. Just my thoughts..
Shouldn't it be dial 666 for Satan?
LMAO!!

Um, your post is both, hilarious and sad. The way you describe your place, it does seem like as if it is a mess. It reminds me of someone I work with. Same thing happens in his house.. you can't tell the difference between the kitchen, the living room or any of the rooms, because they all look alike.. stacks of crap all over the place.
Perhaps you could try in the future to devote a half hour a day on household tasks. I know that is not much, but it is better than nothing. Do it right after breakfast and don't allow yourself to turn on the computer until you have put in your half hour of chores.
I am about to log off, but everyone else... KEEP HORRIBLE LIFE OFF THE COMPUTER TODAY

Not all suffering is bad, suffering can be a blessing in disguise. Disasters like Earthquakes and Hurricanes brings the world closer together and the people become stronger and learn more about brotherhood.
Like the Tsmarmi appeal that happened at the end of 2004 and the start of this year I feel did bring everone closer together and the world was more awakened by their surroundings and it was a sort of a reminder to many others of the blessings they do have in their lives.
In all good conscience, I need to disagree with that. The people of the world have countless ways of growing closer together. A natural disaster should not be one of them. Even if it ultimately brings people closer together, I still call a natural disaster a bad thing. Even if it takes the life of just one person, it is still bad. We've seen the tsunami, we've seen earthquakes, we've seen the recent hurricanes, but if any sense of brotherhood came out of it, it won't last. I am not trying to sound pessimistic here, just stating a fact..

What year was the Smoking Prohibition made?
by Confession inanyone know for certain?
was it declared in the watchtower.
have any direct quotes?

We had a dear ol' brother in our congregation who had started new congregations, been faithful for such a long time. He had smoked his entire life. He could not kick the habit when the powers that be said he should and was disfellowshipped. I heard about this long after I left and felt so sorry for this old man. JW's are heartless people.
Many studies have proven that it is tougher to quit smoking to some people than it is to other people. This poor man was probably among the group who has an extremely hard time to kick the habit. I bet that they told him he didn't love Jehovah enough and that's why he couldn't quit. Such statement would discourage anyone.. -

will the earth be destroyed.
by ajie ini am a present studying the book what does the bible really teach, and am unable to counter the bit where they say the new earth is people and not the literal earth, ive pointed out scriptures that say it will be burned up e.c.t.but the guy relates it to noahs day when the earth was not literal earth that was destroyed but the wicked people,he says this is the same with the new world to come,it is the rightouse people, at the moment we agree to disagree but does anyone know a good way to counter this argument.though doing a goggle search on the subject it seems to me that christians have all sorts of veiws on the subject which only leaves me more confused.

Welcome to JWD. As you go along, you will have many more questions, this is the right place to ask them.
As mentioned above.. the JWs do not believe that the earth will be destroyed.

I'm doing great, thanks for asking. There were some complications so they were only able to do half of the job for now. The tooth which had to be pulled wouldn't come out at all. They cut the tooth in 3 pieces and pulled each piece separately. And still one of the pieces would not come out. That was a lot of pulling and a lot of cracking sounds. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but they ended up with 4 pieces, not three. There was a lot of blood and they had to stitch it up. Now I have to wait until it all heals before they can finish off the job. My new appointment isn't until March 6th.
