Congratulations!! Lol, I still remember the feeling of getting published the first time. No matter how many times you will be published in the future, that first time will always be the most special experience. (and for the dirty minds among you all, I AM talking about publishing, hehe)

like that, they wouldn't need so many elders and ms. they would have plenty of brothers to read and pass the mic.. no where in the bible do they mention how big or small a congregation should be.
if ever one day they have a hard time forming enough ms and elders, wouldn't it be simpler to just make congregations larger?
The congregation I used to go to is actually pretty large, compared to other congregations. But this is way out in the boonies here, and this one KH serves like at least 30 little towns, probably more than that.

I met the JWs when they came knocking on my door when I was in college. Before I knew what was happening, I was having a weekly bible study. I became very close friends with the JW couple who conducted the study, started babysitting their kids at regular times, etc.. They were both very happy individuals, and they were a happy couple together. Since I got to know them quite well, I also realized that their happiness was genuine. I started to believe that their happiness resulted from being a JW. They taught me things I had never heard before, like that the world was being ruled by Satan and that explained all the evil. Before that, I never understood why there was so much suffering around me, and satan ruling the world seemed like the best explanation I had ever heard. I always had a hard time with the trinity, and to my surprise, they told me that there was no such thing. I honestly believed that I had found "the truth". The happiness only lasted a short while. Soon the pressure came. More meetings, more study, more this, more that..
i have posted a couple of times, so i guess i should introduce myself.
i don't want to give out too many details as i am baptized and have not decided what i want to do.
i've been fading for awhile--no one in my cong.

ok guy`s,this is my last post for a while.so i`m going to do a topic to gross you all out..lol!..what is the worst medical emergency you`ve had,that you`ve had to take care of yourselves?..i`ve had many.as i sometimes live in the "canadian wilderness",i have to be my own docter.lately i cut my hand badly,could have used about 8 stitch`s.i closed the wound up myself.then i broke a tooth,what was left had to be pulled.so i pulled it..friggin blood everywhere,and a nice chunk of flesh on the tooth i just pulled.lol!...take care of yourselves jw.com..i`m going to miss you,but i`ll be back..now post something really gross..lol!

I cut the knuckle of my finger off with a meat slicer once. The blood was pretty impressive. Instead of helping me, everyone backed away from me in utter horror. So, all by myself, I had to pick up my knuckle, walk to the ice machine, get a bag and put my knuckle on ice. They stitched it back on in the hospital, and now, 6 years later, my finger is fine, but you can see a nice scar.
In 1993, I had several oral surgeries and they had to "reconstruct" my mouth. Got some plates and screws in there. Last January, one night, while brushing my teeth, I could hear something crack, then felt something hard in my mouth. It was a screw, more than half an inch long. I called the dentist the next day, but he was so backed up that I couldn't get an appointment until April. In April, I didn't make my appointment because I was scheduled to work that day and couldn't find anyone to cover my shift. A new appointment was made, this time for July. July came and went, it was way too busy at work to even think about asking for half a day off. My new appointment is October 4th, the screw has been sitting in my medicine cabinet for 10 months now. We are understaffed at work, and unless a miracle happens, I will have to reschedule my October 4th appointment.

regarding the onions, at work I often stand there and slice 25 pounds of onions with the meat slicer. They make me do it, because nobody else can do so many onions without experiencing serious eye irritation. The secret? Cover your mouth with a dust mask. When you don't breathe the vapor of the onions, it will not irritate your eyes.
we moved from hotels to corporate housing (without internet).
one hour after high speed was installed last thursday, we had to leave for paris.
i just arrived back in houston this evening.

i work with about 30 guys who fail to realize that one can actually hold a conversation without swear words and still make sense.
it doesn't happen that way.
the words they use frequently make the f-word look like a polished piece of vocabulary.. now, about 4 months ago, the son of a jw family in good standing applied for a job there.
But worrying about their religious connection and knowing the potential prudishness of the applicant could get you in hot water. But the name of the thread is "hiring a JW or not"...which means that the religious affliation of the applicant if being taken into account, which it should not be.
That is why his application was moved to the girl's section. They have no problem with the fact that someone is a JW (his brother has a job there after all, and he is a JW as well). As people have mentioned lawsuits here, such wouldn't fly, it wouldn't look good if a place would be sued for not hiring a JW while they already have a JW among their employees. If I had titled this thread "Hiring a timid boy with high moral standards", I wonder how different the reactions would have been. But one way or the other, my guess is that he will be hired very soon. We are about to go into leaf peak, which is about the craziest period of the entire year. After the first weekend of leaf peak, at least 25% of the staff will fall off, unable to deal with the craziness. With the turnover of employees being so high, most people I work with were hired AFTER last year's leaf peak, and they are still blissfully unaware of what's coming their way. Ouch.

LOL, at the time, I had no idea that the JWs were shunning me. It wasn't until I had said "hi" to his brother when I saw him around at work, and he didn't say anything back, that I was starting to wonder. After all, I left but was never baptized. At night when the orders for the employee dinners come in, I cook his food just like I cook everyone else's food. When his name is called to pick up his food, I've noticed that often, someone else will come in the kitchen and pick it up for him.
And here is a question for you guys.. so it is clear that an employer cannot refuse to hire a person because of his or her religion. But what if this person says that he or she cannot work on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays? Especially in the restaurant business, nights and weekends are times when they need most of their staff. How does that work I wonder? I have to admit that I have seen the JW boy working on Tuesday nights. How does he justify that with his parents?
