Yeah, like Syn said: Persistence of vision. The reason the sun doesn't appear to blink.

Dateline Fitzwater Letter-"Two Witnesses
by silentlambs inthe following is a letter written from the service department regarding the molestation of the step daughter of daniel fitzwater.
in the dateline program daniel fitzwater was shown by correspondence from a circuit overseer to have molested 17 jw children who unfortunately did not have two eye-witnesses for each incident.
thus brother fitzwater went to prision and remains in prision as a jw in "good standing".

They just don't get it. Their star chamber rules do not matter, we don't care whether you disfellowship the bastards or embrace them as your "Christian brothers." Just let the police know that an allegation has been made. In addition doing so yourself, encourage the family to take the matter to law enforcement, don't ignore the issue or say something like, "We don't discourage going to police" - which to some witnesses is code that you shouldn't do it.

JW on People's Court
by Sadie5 inwatched "the people's court" today.
there was a landlady taking a former tenent to court for breaking the lease.
the tenent complained that the landlady had entered her apartment when she was not there and removed her american flag.

Yes, but will the JC be for making the Witnesses look nutty or for being a thief? Oh, I forgot, the judicial committees only care about breaking "laws" that society in general no longer enforces - fornication, thinking for oneself, chronic - not, say, child rape.

No one beats the Watchtower in playing with numbers. While the conclusion is valid - many are "missing" - there is some double counting when you don't consider that one might become a publisher in the year before they are baptized, sometimes more than one year (e.g. publisher at 8, baptized at 15 myself). That said, over an extended period like this that would be a very small factor.

New WTS Rules for elders & Child Abusers
by Cappuccino OC inper my uncle who is an elder:.
anyone who has a criminal record can't have any privileges from now on per the wts.. my conclusions:.
so what about the child molesters who have abused children who have been disfellowshiped, pardoned, or who have sincerely repented of their wrongdoingsbut the authorities were not notified?.

Once again, the Watchtower just doesn't get it.
The Chistian idea of redemption is appealing, and never had anything to do with the pedophile problem. This change both fails to address the real problems - systemically covering up and re-victimizing with a code of silence - and introduces a new wrench in the works for those who have been redeemed from drugs and violence. Elders and ministerial servants who have paid their debt to society for crimes of youth will be told by elders who are pedophiles, and who have scared victims out of going to the civil authorities often through the mechanism of the church, will tell the first group they are not worthy to serve.

If this replace the Knowless book, then how will the Society ever keeps its commitment from the 1998 Kingdom Service School to use only the Knowless book, Require brochure, and subscriptions (!) as monthly offers, instead of trying to clear out stock of old light with yellowing pages?

Christian parents must therefore train their children to be cautious with all strangers, regardless of apparent authority.
Encouraging kids to be cautious around the Presiding Overseer of a certain Montgomery County, PA congregation might help as well. Hello! If it were mostly strangers doing this, they would be caught like this man was. It is becuase they are not strangers that their "apparent authority" allows them to repeatedly rape many children.

I'm just too smart for my own good!
by lv4fer inwhen the elder called to talk to me the other day, he told me that one of my problems was that he didn't want to boost my ego, but that i have a higher than average intellectual ability and part of my problem was that i look too deep into things.
i tend to analyze things a bit too much.
he thinks its because i went to college, that may be part of my problem.. imagine that, i'm just too smart.

By the time the third or fourth elder told me "you think too much," I knew that getting out was a good idea.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, which is Mexico's independence celebration. Or as I once heard a brainless radio twit say, "It's the Mexican 4th of July." Alas, Mexicans of Orthodox faith may use a Julian calendar several days behind the common Gregorian, but the whole nation is not 60 days ahead of the rest of us.
We think about words so little. Why would one ever need a "hot water heater"? Do you buy it off the back of a van? A friend mentioned that at work they "had a going-away party for some people who are leaving." Good thing, since throwing going-away parties for people who are sticking around is just confusing. Then there was the expert who testified at the O.J. trial that some hair in evidence was identified as 'belonging to an African-American.' Presumably he had not positively identified the owner of the hair, or that the owner's ancestors were necessarily U.S. citizens, just that he was black.
