I went with my wife. Same old ooutline as far as i could tell. No question for the kids about animal petting and no John 3:16 emphasis discussion. My guess is that some speakers might have gotten similar ideas from a website some use for illustrations and stuff.

Is it normal to feel you have betrayed your spouse when you learn TTATT?

i am trying to look at it from a believing mates perspective.

they married you as a jw expecting you to continue as one.

if you have kids, she enjoyed the stability of both spouses being united.. when you learn ttatt, you find out the wt is a dangerous mind control group and lies to its members and is hypocritical.

I haven't read everyone's comments yet but personally I did feel like I betrayed my wife in a sense. She married me partly based on the fact that we believed the same things and could spiritually support each other. I felt like I had to be quiet and not rock the boat and that I had to apologize all the time for changing my beliefs. Someone close told me that marriage mates should be able to grow and change but still keep their relationship strong because a marriage is built upon many items. That same person told me that I needed to stop feeling apologetic and be loving, considerate, caring and supportive. I think that is how we ended up with our current situation of not discussing the elephant in the room and remaining mostly happily married. Of course, all of this will be put to the test as the kids get older and act like regular "worldly" kids and not witnesses. If anything bad happens I will be the first and only scapegoat for all issues. Because, you know that nothing bad ever happens to witness kids (lie lie lie).

hi fellow speakers (sorry, brothers only!):.

my first public talk, given in my early 20s, was actually a twenty-minute part of a symposium talk.

my pioneer partner friend and i each had twenty minutes and a "servant" had the concluding part.

Counted public talk time of 45 minutes. Didn't count preparing time. I did not count time for any other talks or parts.

I thought this old thread might be of interest again since I recently found out that another well known apologist on Beliefnet also stopped being a witness. His posting name was "Apologist" and he lead the way for the dub Beliefnet posters.

Anyone remember the old Beliefnet Poster - Apologist?

several years ago on beliefnet there was a jw apologist named "apologist".

he was very well written and defended the dubs very well.

he had several debates with auld soul and others on beliefnet which were fun to read.. i recently found out that the poster "apologist" is no longer a witness and does not consider them to have the "truth".

I recently found out that the poster "Apologist" is no longer a witness and does not consider them to have the "truth". Here is a link to the article I read.

The article gives his real name - Edward Andrews. On Beliefnet "Apologist" put his real name at the bottom of his posts which is why I knew it was the same person.

Circuit Overseer wakes up, packs his bags and leaves!

i just heard this about a co i knew back in the day before he was even a co. he must be in his mid-late 40's now, my mother told me the story as she knows the family very well (the entire family has gone 'apostate' including several elders, circuit overseers and missionaries - this was an "example" family, always on the stage etc).. he wasn't 'feeling well' so he took time off from his co duties.

that week he packed his suitcase, told his wife he can't do it anymore and he's leaving, leaves her the car and the house and went to live in a small apartment, bought a small car and a week later got a decent job.. this was very recent so not everybody within the org has heard yet what happened..

I've known of several COs and DOs who have owned their own home. One rented his house to a pioneer couple for a cheap price and another rented his out to a group of young men who pioneered and on the way to being ministerial servants or bethelites. Everyone thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.

I also knew a CO who had a full pension from a civil servant job before he was a dub.

ok, sometimes i go to jw.org just to laugh a bit about the 'food at the proper time', and i would like to know what people think of this hillarious article 'am i attracted to the same sex.

does that mean i am gay?'.

this has to be one of the most remarkable pieces of logic (last paragraph of the article).. the bibles stand is not unreasonable.

Based on this article can a JW can be homosexual as long as they don't engage in homosexual activities? Is that really true? I've been out awhile but I don't remember that being the teaching.

International Conventions for 2014 - Landover, MD - What is an International Convention?

have been out of touch for a while, i see that there is an 'international' convention this year in landover, md (fed ex field) and there are no english conventions in either richmond or hampton, va. what is an 'international convention', is it merely a consolidation of all the other conventions meant to whip up some fervor amongst the masses?.

No Reading,PA conventions this year

i tried to search a little but didn't see this anywhere.

does anybody know where the philadelphia region of witnesses are going to be sent to this year?

The Reading, PA Santander Arena and the Mohegan Sun Arena have about the same number of seats. This move seems more about potential cost savings for the WTS than international or regional conventions. I imagine that the Mohegan Sun Arena is newer and nicer.
