found this online, for those of you who don't know, during the 1960s and 1970s, the watchtower society occasionally used the translation of the new testament by johannes greber to support their similar renderings of john 1:1 and matthew 27:52,53. in 1983 they officially stopped using his translation because of its "close rapport with spiritism.

" the information that geber was a spiritist was readily available to the society's writers.

in 1955 and 1956 the society's writers themselves wrote of greber's spiritism.

I have to agree with the Dawg with the badge. They are ultimate liars, and hypocrites beyond belief. In 1955 in their booklet entitled, "What do the scriptures say about SURVIVAL AFTER DEATH"?" they take Johannes Greber to task for his communication with the spirit world and the fact that as a former Catholic priest he became a spiritualist.

Then in 1962 in their booklet, ""The Word", Who Is He? According to John", they attack the Trinity using the Johannes Greber Translation of the New Testament...the very same translation Johannes "received" from the spirit world.

I am sure there's a JDub sympathizer somewhere out there who has a good explanation for this.

it is not infrequently that jehovah's witnesses make the statement that the name of their organization is "scriptural.

tony wills, in his book "a people for his name" makes an interesting point about the misrepresentation of that name as "scriptural" and the appropriateness of this name-change by the impostor "bible scholar" rutherford -.

let's start a list of reasons why you were told, or overheard people telling, won't make it through the big a day.

i'll start.. 1. they don't take showing up for cleaning the kingdom hall seriously and never show up.

i overheard a sour puss old elder say this to his wife after he just gave a scolding talk on it.

The Rapidly Emerging "NEW BREED" of Jehovah's Witnesses

the "ever-changing doctrine" of the watchtower org.

is now creating an "incubator of doubts" that seems to be "hatching" this so-called "new breed" of witnesses.

watchtower publications written with purposeful ambiguous articles seems to be allowing many witnesses to become extremely liberal in their way of thinking.the watchtower org's view, as of late, in making more things a conscience matter, blood issues, voting, alternative service, organ transplants, attending weddings and funerals in churches, celebrating holidays, etc.

I think there is some validity to your statement. For example, my EX who used to be hardcore is now in real estate and misses lots of meetings and field service and I even know she goes out of town to fornicate, looking for rich guys and the elders look the other way. So I don't really know what's going on. They talk down about higher education but they don't seem to have any bite to their bark because I know quite a few young people going to college.

I think they're still trying to control thru fear but without a big A date I think the sheep are wandering.

Why JWs should soft-pedal the "Divine Name"

this is prompted by reniaa who claims that one of the things that jws have right is the name jehovah.. you know how if you're trying to convert someone to be a jw, you put your best foot forward and try to keep the controversial stuff that might "stumble" them on the back burner?

(like say, mother's day or when i was a kid, pinatas?

) well, that's how i categorize the whole topic of the divine name.

she'll be back as soon as she can find more Slobbering Body stuff she can cut and paste. The fact of the matter is, if I were a Dubbie I'd be damn sure that the pronounciation was correct before i used it...afterall the Guy is known for whacking kids who poke fun of the hair-challenged.

Now for my Andy Rooney impression...Have you ever noticed that Dubs really can't think logically on their own...they have to parrot something from Mother. Didja ever wonder why...maybe it's because they're in a cult...shhh don't tell 'em.

Can't you just picture the joy the Dubbies experienced back in the 1300's when the Black Plague killed almost 100 million people?! "Woo Hoo, if this isn't the Great Tibulation I don't what is."

Or maybe a good little Dubbie in the late 1800's picks up the London newspaper and reads about Jack the Ripper...surely a sign of the End.

Or HOLY CRAP...word gets back to that nice little congregation in Spain in 1492 that some guy has discovered The New World!....so lemme see...The Great Tribulation happens in the 1300's and then in 1492 the New World is discovered. It's gotta be New Light. We is in the New World already. Think I'll start a religion. Sorry, just rambling. None of it makes sense.

and by the way, the Ouija Board is banned because it gives the player a direct line of communication to Johanes Greber, Chuck Russell and other visionaries. Using it would be "running ahead" of the organization. Only the Slobbering Body are allowed to communicate with the great Spirits.

And if He wanted His name pronounced, don't you think He would have made it a little easier to discover the correct vowels in the correct order?

Bigger News Flash. (see above). I guess God is not powerful enough to override the superstitions of man so as His faithful followers could correctly pronounce His name. Afterall He is powerful enough to choose a large publishing company that dictates 4-door cars and avoidance or demonic Smurfs. I guess that's just part of His mystery, having the Catholics put His word together and allowing them to choose the correct vowels.
