"A measure of fantasy thinking"--------Yes Terry, I stand corrected! As you identified yourself as one trying to "lure unsuspecting widows with money into contacting you". ;-0

i cant help but think of the analogy of pendulum swings when i think about how vitriolic some are towards religion (of any description), the bible (and other scripture), and christianity (generally, regardless of there being a wide range of denominational flavours) in particular.. it seems to me, from my perspective of sitting here on a remote scottish island, that there are a fair number of folks who may have left an intolerant and generalising religion but forgot to leave those attitudes with it.. just my 2p, coz to be frank i'm getting sick of it.. by all means enjoy some self-expression, it's a relatively free planet, but have a heart....

Robyn (Robdar) has over 5,000 posts! "I didn't know"!? Come on! I wasn't changing the subject-------it showed a measure of intolerence!
Carry on!

Robdar------Sadly, SOME men use the word HYSTERICAL, when an intelligent woman asks questions and joins into a discussion with the group.

a brief treatise on mysticism.
mysticism begins with a code of "morality" just beyond the reach of humanity.
guilt ensues; man cannot achieve this lofty standard of behavior.
This is thread is ENTERTAINING! LOVE IT!

ANYTIME we get LT, Terry and Trevor discussing, arguing or sharing on the same thread.......I'm happy!

one of this biggest teachings present in mostly all christian denominations is the idea that the bible is infallibile.
my question is, where does the bible say this?
i know of many scriptures that point to the idea that what was written was directed by god, but where does the idea that what written is totally without error originate?
Dear Terry----Maybe you have forgotten the illustration of the BIBLE being held tightly in one hand, each finger representing one of the five meetings that our loving creator has provided. If we miss one meeting we are beginning to loose our grip on the WORD of GOD. Well, with out that tight grip on his WORD, we are DEAD! ;-0
It sure explains why some hold on so tight!

wow.. so, you know i'm an active witness, very active.
hah.
and i'm not laughing at y'all, but wow, i can't believe how extensive this is.
Darcy------WELCOME. I have enjoyed your posts and hope that some of the strong replies won't send you running. Your optimism is refreshing and the fact that you are willing to share on this board and discuss your thoughts is wonderful. Some here on the board, will only find happiness if you become a hard core APOSTATE! You will be held UP as an example of their ACCOMPLISHMENT. Walk your own path, for it is YOURS to walk. I myself am inactive, I attend meetings to maintain relationships. I no longer believe key doctrine that the JW's teach. I feel no NEED influence anyone else with what I believe.

it has been 5 years since a scared still-jw lurker signed on as blondie.
my other birthday approaches but this is the real one.
i have seen jwd grow and change and evolve, and some of it was painful.
As a relative new comer, I wonder if you truly know how important your contributions are? How important it is for me to see an intelligent woman offer wise counsel, compassion and wisdom! Your thousands of posts have made such a difference! I always look for your contributions!

although, the complaints may be valid and sad.
many posters here have vented about their wicked parents.. i think its time we parents have a post dedicated to saying something horrid about our kids.
it maybe something you have wanted to say about them that was in the past or happening now.
My oldest (27) is a horrible intellect! He MAKES me think!
My middle one (25) is horribly passionate! What depth of feeling! She moves me!
My baby (23) is horribly funny! She brings tears to my eyes with laughter!
All three have taught me much about life!

i wrote this to someone else, but i think this demonstrates perfectly why i was outraged when i first found out that jehovah's witnesses do not teach that jesus is the mediator for all mankind.
it is true that they possess a different doctrine entirely, but to me the outrageous thing was that they do not actively teach any doctrine regarding jesus mediatorship.
this thread presents indisputable proof of that fact.. in my opinion, it is very important to remember that religions do not tell you the harshest doctrines or the most difficult doctrines to accept during the initial indoctrination phase.. do you have a copy of reasoning from the scriptures?
I have been inactive 4years. I fully believe that there will come a day that the congregtion of JW's will one day clean out the publishers cards and announce all inactive publishers as no longer one of Jehovahs Witnesses. Why am I inactive? I was baptized in 1974, I was raised with the belief that 1975 was the end of the system. It didn't happen. I stuck with my dedication, which at the time was a dedication to do Jehovahs will. I preached. I preached the 1914 doctrine, the blood doctrine, I even devoted myself to the full time work. I had nagging probems about the appointment of MS and elders as being an appointment of Jehovahs holy spirit. Then came the generation change, more doubt. Then the change in blood doctrine, more doubt. I think in the back of my head I was aware that Jesus was not my mediator. HONESTLY, that didn't affect me much. Why? As with most JWs, it is not about a relationship with Christ, it is about WORKS......period. Christ and spirituality are not a part of the Organization. The preaching work is what it is ALL about. Numbers. Being seen by our association of brothers, actively PREACHING and therefore worthy. I have been spiritually dead for many years.
