For those raised as a JW...
by DisconnectingDrone inlike many i was about 7 or 8 when my parents were baptized.
being a child you naturally trust that your parents are doing the right thing and follow them.
i was baptized at 15-how often i wish i could turn back the clock!

Mom studied and was baptized when I was four. My dad hated her religion but never showed a better way of life. My three syblings and I were baptized in our teens. All around 74-75.......Hmmmmmmmmmm. I woke up late in life. My dad is now studying, he is 80. I suppose he is looking for any insurance that he will live again. I.....well I....I wish to live my life peacefully....death is nothing to be ashamed of.

I asked my mom about how we were always taught that the smaller groups such as the Book study and meeting place would be a safe haven during the great tribulation and how it would be through this group that the elders would be able to keep track of us. In fact....that is why the change of Book sudy conductor to Book study OVERSEER! My moms eyes lit up and she said "NO, it will be at the kingdom hall". The brothers KNOW what they are doing! She saw this as SUCH a positive! The END is NEAR!!! Ah well......I am glad she has her dreams and I have common sense!

Keith....the good that has come my way....already...too much to count.
I was at work the day my husband came home, packed his few belongings and was gone. He left our home in tact. It was only a few boxes and his clothes that were missing....and of course...he himself.....
It was March 2004.
It was a day of enormous loss and a day for new beginnings.

A few weeks after my middle daughters wedding, my husband moved across the country. We had been married 27 years. The grief was astounding! It wasn't that I didn't know our marriage was over, I guess I just thought that somehow, someway it would somehow work out. We divorced almost two years later and he remarried 11 months after that. I think in many ways, it was after he left that we learned to be more honest with each other then in all the 27 years we were married. I miss him every single day, but it is only the good I remember with that loss. I have to work at remembering how utterly alone I felt in the marriage.

Question for Active Witnesses: What Makes You Stay?
by feenx ini had an interesting conversation with my still active mother last week.
i asked her point blank if she ever stopped to think that maybe not everything the society told her was right.
yet she still stays.

I find it interesting that the comment most heard from devoted witnesses is that, while the Org. is not perfect, it is the only provision for future life. The Org. has been compared to the ARK. Get in and stay in! Yet if the ark was full of holes and imperfection, no one would have survived. Now I am not saying that I completely believe in Noah and his ark but that is just how MY mind works.

I must confess...
by RollerDave ini have no prob with ritchie, did he lie?
idk, i don't care.
i think he's an ok sort.. but i wouldn't be myself without a transparent, tongue in cheek attempt to horn in on this latest scandal and get some of the turmoil for myself now, would i?.

Crazy JW Urban Legends
by Wordly Andre inok its time to recount all your favorite crazy jw urban legends, ill start i remember this one was told to me after i had left the org, there was a newly married couple, they were good little dubs, evil mother in law lived with them, she did not want to convert or study, well time went on they had a baby, and mother in law was into some spiritual stuff, unknown to jw mommy and daddy.
anyway jw mommy wakes up one night to find little baby dub sitting inside the fish tank with most of the water taken out and there was some kind of evil spirit present, mommy dub yells out jemimas name and breaks free with baby dub.
evil mother in law is asked to leave their happy home.

CO decided to "encourage" the cong. the other night with stories of two sisters, one 104 the other 103 and still starting bibile studies. Also the 13 year old with 10 bible studies! He then pointed out that the cong. has an average of 7.5 hrs......what's wrong with you guys! Also, for you out there that are turning in FS reports of 1-2 hours and no placements....NOT acceptable!
I should have asked for the addresses of these old people so I could have sent them a card. Do you think he has addresses? I highly DOUBT it! These people do not exist! Urban legend, mild but still affective in promoting GUILT!

Have You Divorced And/Or Remarried- What Did You Learn From It ?
by flipper inin seeing a lot of posters threads , i feel i see many people who have been divorced at one time , and either have remarried or have stayed single .
i totally understand those who choose to stay single, as i was single for 6 years before i got married again !
as experts say, next to death it's one of the hardest experiences you'll go through !

Actually quite a painful topic......divorced some three years now......learning to make to make it on my own.
Went from fathers home to husbands...never knew who I was. I was a baby of eigthteen, just six weeks into my eighteenth year. Armagedon was just around the corner!
I could only imagine my future....I survived each and every day. No abuse, no phsyical pain.....just a deep and painful DULLNESS!
My gifts were my three children and an ex who I will always treasure.
I learned the pain of LOSS, I felt and feel grief....and I cherish the freedom to think and be and learn and live...as I choose......
In the end I will die...as all creation does....
