  This organization was never set up to help people, care for their problems or in any way attempt to solve their pain. The 2 witness rule was put in place to try to make an uncomfortable problem go away. Child abuse doesn't fit in with the sales pitch. Additionally, the ancillary results of it create so many problems it takes people away from selling and this cannot be tolerated. Better to sweep it under the rug, pretend it doesn't exist or by God stamp it out of existence. It matters little to those at the top if real people are in pain, being brutally assaulted, and so on. All that matters is that the selling of the literature must continue.

  Even though he may have never really followed it, being raised in a JW family has its effects. Maybe he unadmittedly views it as the "truth TM ". Sometimes induced fear and guilt are powerful motivators. I agree knowledge is the best key to combat the WTBTS corruption. Once he sees sites like these or pherhaps a book exposing the Watchtower for what it is, it may open his eyes.

  If your someone interested in the Witnesses I suggest you do your research on them here first before you take any plunges into their religion. And yes as Skyman stated if you currently have long hair and want to become an active witness, don't expect to keep that long hair for very long. They will tolerate it for awhile but pretty soon they will start to make subtle hints about it and how you should cut it. They will say how it is a bad example and could stumble others. Basically they will squeeze you into a typical JW mold and you will be fashioned after them, another drone. Independance and personal choice are not tolerated within the JW community. Please do your homework on them before getting to heavily involved, dont make the same mistake many of us did.

  I'll tell you the honest truth, I had my hair half way down my back and earrings and Im a male. Even the CO saw this but I was never really counselled about it or DF'd. They just chose to say nothing, but then i was also inactive for a number of years and I didn't have any regular association with any witnesses nor did I seek any of their association. Im not sure if you were active what they would do, but they would probably find something to judge you about it, pherhaps the scripture which says "long hair on men is a disgrace to god." I never believed this myself as I guess im too independant spirited, and for all I know that could have been the apostles personal opinion. If God hated long hair on men why did he permit it in Israelite times? I still have longer hair not as long as I did since I recently cut it but still way longer then the Jw off the collar style, and they don't say a damn thing. If they did I would give them a piece of my mind.

  i can seldom find scriptures that might be taken as "contrary" to wts beliefs.

  i have been looking for a couple of hours for one scripture and cannot seem to locate it!

  Don't feel bad Annie, I've run into the same problem. Anytime I try to look up a scripture not supporting their take on a certain doctrine in the NWT, it seems to never be listed in the back. How convenient that is!

  well, after printing out 31 pages of wts quotes on the un being the wild beast etc...............then showing how the scandal was addressed and reponses by the wts.................he refused to read anything!

  I feel its largely due to them being afraid to deal with their JW past and eventually the guilt and fear draws them back to the so called "life saving ark". Ive seen this happen to many people, but its like I say, you can't be helped unless you seek and want help. I do know though as a believing JW it is a very scary thing to read contrary information critical of the WTBTS. When they have impounded in your mind that doing so will send you to the second death as an apostate it takes alot of courage to look at and comprehend. I guess some have the courage to do it and some dont and so they remain trapped within a high control group.

  This is bullshit. I hate this hypocritical crap coming from the top of the pyramid, makes me sick. Yet if the charge was fornication or something the elders would be sniffing all over someones arse to find something to df them. Pedophilia they cover up because "it would ruin Jehovah's name". BULLSHITE it would, it would ruin the WTBTS's image plain and simple, they are only protecting their own arses. What a bunch of lowlifes, I hope that freedom of religion law gets changed because you would think in 21st century a victim would be more important then a damn money making religion.

  we moved into an apartment on the 2nd floor.

  we were jws at the time, and the family on the first floor under us was studying.. the girl downstairs started hearing noises during the night and finally hearing steps up to the side of her bed.

  she was so scared she hadn't slept in a while and was so tired.

  Your mind can do strange things, its like seeing the green frog or a bright light. You can vividly see it, yet it does not exist other then in your mind. I remember reading that in a psychology book, taking examples of people who earnestly swore they seen apparitions and aura's luminating from people. Now im not saying it can't be true as its what I consider unexplained, and it's difficult to say one way or the other. Im a tad bit skeptical though but I do believe their is some sort of energy or power out their but I find it hard to believe that some object or form is needed for a spirit to become attached to a person or place. Possibly but I attribute that thought mostly to JW folklore, and I don't really believe any JW urban legends. If this really happened yes it would be very eery to say the least, damn wish it happened to me then I wouldn't be a skeptic. lol Although I have witnessed some strange events.
