the bryant tragedy has really been stuck in my head and heart this week as i'm sure it has been for all of us.
it occured to me though that there may be some here or lurking that do not understand what made robert do what he did.
there may be some who think that his was an isolated incidence of severe untreated mental illness and have nothing to do with his being disfellowshiped.

I never posted my full story here, although I have spoken about it in chat. Like you, I found an xjw site-H2O-when the wounds were still fresh and quite deep. Its really good to be amongst people who understand what pain the WTS brings to its members.

anyone have any pet peeves they'd like to air?
here's one that just happened at work that is an annoyance for me: when you are speaking and the person interrupts the conversation with a corny play on words or the like.
for example, "i had to sit on the phone on hold for about 5 minutes, waiting .
Ashitaka...yes, in Jersey there is NO END to slowpokes in the fast lane. As long as we know where the Troopers are hiding, as most regular commuters do, the speed is a matter of comfort.
Along the lines of driving, here are 2 of my pet peeves:
1.Women who apply makeup in the middle of the MORNING RUSH HOUR. Having to watch for their bumbling about makes it difficult for me to read the newspaper on my steering wheel!!
2.SEAT BELT LAWS. I always wear a seatbelt, but I dont like being told I HAVE TO DO IT. Whens the last time you ever heard of a driver becoming a missile during a crash and "taking out" a pedestrian??? Money grubbing bastards.!!!

The brainwashing taps into so many aspects of the Witness psyche-theres the persecution complex, in which Dubs imagine that all outside really give em more than passing notice and will persecute them in various ways. To a Dub, an employer saying "I cant give you Friday off to attend your convention" is percieved as persecution or a test from Satan.
The OTHER end of that spectrum is the "I failed in some way, thats why I am DF'd. Its MY fault, I wasnt good enough, but I will humble myself and make it back." The difficulty involved in such(especially if one is not in "the CLIQUE"), is tremendous. It becomes a vicious cycle, and IMHO, can lead to self-loathing. The constant barrage of, "TRY HARDER" is truly a beating.
Kinda reminds ya of the Pharisees, don't it?
