"College, oh no!" PT 1-New guy here
by theundecided2004 inhello everyone, i have been keeping up with posts on this board for about four years now, been a member for about one year but have never had the courage to make my first post.
so now i'm going to make that first step to get rid of that fear i had of betraying myself, and vent my experiences and frustrations with this faith.
i think this board will be a good way for me to make acquaintances of people with similar feelings that i have regarding the jehovah's witnesses, as well as a good outlet for my frustrations as a jw, and get some advice as to maybe getting a reasonable exit strategy in the near future.

Does ANYONE exercise control like the Dubs?
by upside/down inthink about it...in what area of life does anyone do what they do...?
i'm talking meddling in your "personal" matters, inviting you to the "backroom" (wtf?
), discussing how you've "stumbled" someone, tell you you're not doing enough, dictate your clothes, your speech, want to know "why" you weren't at the meeting or fs, need to know the "intimacies" of marriage...to keep the congo clean..., label everyone either "weak" or "a pillar", want to know if you "beat your meat"...(but beating your kids is ok)..., have you been having impure thoughts, help you choose a "spiritual" (ugly) mate, why you bought a (gasp) 2-door car, whether you attended the meetings while on "vacation", turned down that scholarship to "pioneer"...actually got us to sell everything and move to timbuktu and stay.... .

Thats the discipline of the borg.It is truly mind boggling how they control both major and minor descisions.

How/Why were the Jehovah Witnesses chosen?
by Hondo ini am not a jw, never have been, but lost my wife (a japanese national) to them in 2003. i have been in and out of some of these forums trying to learn as much as possible about what drove my ex-wife to, for the most part, reject me and take her jw congragation as her new family, her new counselors, her new best friends, etc.
a jw doctrine that has always bugged me is the belief that jesus came to earth in 1918/19, or there-a-bouts, and chose them as his one and only representative orgainization on earth (i think i have it right).
some may take this the wrong way, as it may sound a bit glib, and i apologise in advance if this is the case and i offend anyone, but my ex-wife truely believes, no matter that she can't explain why (and maybe this is my answer.

DY--this guy isn't a stupid witness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why should he go to the local congregation? They don't have shit to do with him or his relationships. There is no need to involve self rightoeusss cleaners/elders in all of this.
CYP-your right on.He should move on and be glad he didn't get sucked in.

please DY----------You can't control someone who wants to join a cult. And if she joined a cult to lose a 20 year marriage, she is immature in doing so.She should have confronted him about the real issues.IMO,your way of thougfht is way off.
good luck hondo, you'll find many answers to your questions here.
They are a buisness masquerading as gods sole channel to humans, claiming jesesus invisible prensence came in 1914.They have been deceptive with there followers, and have outright lied about speculating on aremegeddon.
Could your wife be going thru some kind of mid-life crisis?
Does she live with any guilt about things in her life?
Is she generally gullible?
These could all be reasons why. There are many charasmatic individuals in the cult. They have a way of making you think they have all the answers. If you scratchy below the surface, you'll see what this manipulative cult has done to many families. You are not alone.Good luck.STP

Are You Too Tough on Yourself?
by Blueblades innow that you have made that exit from the cult, wtbts., or are fading, are you too tough on yourself?
do you have a little voice inside your head that's constantly telling you that you don't measure up?
nearly all of us carry these voices around, some are louder than others, some are quieter.
