Yeah,I hear yah.I have no clue on christmas etiquette.It feels overwhelming,and I do find it hard to say merry christmas,espescially to people who know I never celebrated holidays.I also don't know how to proceed with my extended family,all of who are not jdubs and knew it was a cult from the get go when my parents joined{got hooked in}.Now I feel like i'm left out of everything.I guess I kind of like it though.How do you just jump into it?

WHAT'S NEW? DOORSTEP BIBLE STUDIES!
by stillAwitness inso i'm in service this morning and the young sister i was working with had what they call now a "doorstep bible study" .
its been encouraged by the fds that if one has a regular return visit with an interested one that one can hold a bible study by having them read one or two paragraphs out of the require brochure and ask the questions right at their doorstep.. i've never actually seen it done and boy let me tell you it was the most awkard, ridiculous thing i have ever seen!
the poor sister (who was nothing older thatn 15) is standing at the door having this grown woman read a paragraph out of the require brochure, and after having her ansewring the question and read a scripture she then then tells her she'll see her next week!

I have always been attracted to older women.They have always liked me,as well.I don't know if it is somehow connected to my upbringing,self esteem,or just how I am.I have always been ahead of the curve for friends my age,espescially since leaving the org.I try not to put labels or expectations on our relationship.Sometimes my male ego has trouble dealing with the fact that I am not her main focus.I try to realize that It isn't me ,and have to be confident and not come off as needy.My old girlfriend ,who was a year younger than me,really loved me and I didn't appreciate that.There are benefits and drawbacks to my situation,its can you balance them,and be secure,but also not try to play head games and act like"I don't need this old lady"or say"I'll show her".Just be yourself,be a friend above everything,and realize it may never be "a normal relationship".Although time will tell anyway,so enjoy the ride,and have no regrets,which I don't.

I have been seeing a woman who's 35 for about 6 months.I am 24.She's mature,good looking,we have common interests ,she has her own place,so do I,we both have seperate lives ,but when where together,we have a great time.The age difference is odd for some people to understand,but as long as we are both having a good time,what do I care.It isn't as taboo as it used to be I think.Good luck.STP

Tez--What state is the world in?Is it any different than it ever was.Crime,sadness,selfishness are everywhere,but so is charity, care,and love.It all depends on what your outlook is.Bottom line is ,JW parents do brainwash there children through guilt and fear,good intentions or not.I mean no dis respect.

true to form, it was another anti-college, pro-pioneering propaganda piece put out by our buddies in brooklyn.. in the third paragraph, it babbled forth about how colleges and universities don't teach people to overcome racism, tribalism, and something else.

Anyone leave the JW's and Still Follow Some of the Beliefs?
by lynnmelo inmany of you have seen my posts in the last week or two, but for those who haven't, here's my story in brief: i've been studying with the jw's for a couple of years, but just had too many doubts to commit.
those doubts were solidified when i discovered this site.
now i've decided not to commit.. however, i still believe in some of the things that the jw's believe.

Hi lynnmelo--I have never celebrated christmas.I believe the witnesses take the spirit of christmas and completely twist it though.It has been brought up before how pagan roots are an integral part of our lives.For example,The names of the weekdays,wedding rings,also the months{there are more,I just can't think of them}.Where do you stop straining ou the gnat and gulp down the camel.I have grown up in this religion and carry no beliefs over into my real life.They enjoy taking joy out of peoples lives,sad but true.If celebrating a holiday is for the sole purpose of spending time with friends and family ,to show them love,whats the problem?The problem is,it is a cult,and they want to isolate you as much as possible with people who know better.They need to stand out as different to prove there right,now that is pagan to me.
I am glad you have decided not to commit to them,and please do ENJOY this holidays,and only you know why you chose to celebrate.Best of luck,STP

it claims to represent jehovahs witnesses (in its title)yet the vast majority of posters are anti jw and many have been expelled.

by moshe ini sometimes felt guilty when i was a jw by taking advantage of the system and not putting anything back.
like schools- jw's want good schools for their kids but would never serve on the pta or other school committee.
doctors- oh how they want the best medical care, but they discourage their children from getting an advanced degree to become a doctor.

seven 006---I can understand to a point what your saying.But when does one chose to be a self rightouess fool who can't think for themselves.Also,there are many ways to see the forest from the trees,internet,there own literature and known examples of trouple and hurt theyve caused,I do thinkl its not so much the gullible people,its the people who program to think like that----but at what point do you hold YOURSELF responsible for yourself amd your family.Is it 25 years of "happiness" only to realize you got dupedand hurt everyone around you because you were to ignorant to look at the facts.,like my family.
