It's impossible to concretely prove that the bible is divinely driven, because frankly we don't know what the spiritual world is, let alone if it exists or not. So no I do not believe it is inspired. It is filled with too much by primitive humanity to suggest that it comes from an intelligent deity.

Is the bible inspired?
by jwfacts ini am trying to determine if it can be proved that the bible is inspired, and was wondering if most people here believe it is or is not.. i am writing a document on proof of inspiration, but it has ended up more of an article that shows the bible can not be proven to be inspired.
i will be interested in what people think about it when it is finished.
however i am worried that posting such an article may alienate those on jwd that believe the bible to be gods word.

The Time Of The End: Could It Be Upon Us?
by jayhawk1 init has been so long since i had anything to say on this site.

The best way to mourn the dead and to continue life for all is for yourself to continue living and help others live. Our depressing ourselves about occurrences that will not stop is counter-productive to our existence. Us Americans have been pumping our adrenaline to higher gas prices (People seriously think that the higher gas prices, which Europe has been having for a long time, is a clear sign that the end of the world is coming.) and the war in Iraq and it’s making us highly delusional. A delusional populace creates a delusional government. If we as a whole just sit down and learn and educate ourselves about what can and is happening then we, as a people will most likely excel rather than deteriorate.
Throughout history after a long season of delusional panicked society, the society either becomes filled with the spirit of advancement and liberalism, or plunge into a delusional conservatism that makes us hope for a time that never particularly happened. Part of this moral boost comes from us winning wars and overcoming projected evil. However, some people have set up a destructive way of doing things, we do not like the war we are fighting, so the chances of us going into the liberalism that i expressed above is slim. If we rekindle that spirit for advancement and furthering of our education then we can overcome tragedies like this better as a people. If we keep depressing ourselves, putting ourselves further into helplessness, we only spawn a government that acts on these sentiments from the people. We have more control over the government’s actions than many people like to think.
A delusional populace creates a delusional government. Repeating for emphasis eh. -

To loot, or not to loot-is the point moot?
by CaptainSchmideo inokay, let's say you find yourself in the big easy.
no lights, no phone, no motorcar, not a single luxury.. you have kids, you have yourself.
everyone is hungry, and thirsty, and drinking the water will kill you (even walking around in it isn't real safe.).

It's been documented heavily that when riches rise in a civilization, crime and murder rises also. Being on the top of the food chain makes people many times just as crazy as being on the bottom.

National Geographic beats hell outa Watchtower
by SixofNine inwhen the wt gets anything this right, it will be a happy day for the governing body.
but then again, the national geographic has the built in advantage of having an editorial content that focuses on reality.
"thousands drowned in the murky brew that was soon contaminated by sewage and industrial waste.

Many times my mom puts the Awake on the level of the Natural Geographic. I always want to seriously like just yell at her and say, "THE WATCHTOWER IS DUMB. NGEO IS SMART."

Houstonians being affected by the Hurricane.
by Daunt infrom the different houstonians i talk to, many of them are showing some hostility towards the new orleans refugees.
many of my associates say that many businesses are being bought out and being replaced with new orlean ran businesses, and many other people worry about new orlean's crime history and how that would affect houston.
i'm trying to volunteer at the astrodome hopefully (parents are jws so everything volunteering for a group is terrible) but i was just wondering how other people felt about the raised emotions of the refugees from new orleans and how that will affect other people.

does god listen to prayers?
by el jarocho mayor inwhen people pray does god listen?
does he care?
when prayers are "answered", is that proof of a divine being?

On an earthly standpoint, Terry is right. We affectively pray to ourselves. Pray for many people sets standards for what's going to happen next, and usually their faith will allow them to keep on in their reasoning that God is infaliable. So many people affectively live out their prays, and certain coincidences like Brenda happen building people's faith even more.
Not to say that that wasn't divinely directed, but, I wonder how many great amazing things would happen to us if we counted the non-pray ones instead of the pray ones.
Would be amazed at how real a person can make their reality, it seems almost supernatural sometimes. -

It's been proven throughout history that under extreme situations, the person's animal brain will take over . I can say that I won't but under those situations my attitude can change dramatically. I'd say I would steal in those situations, but I wouldn't be all too proud of myself.

Another "New Light" or changing their damned story again about reserection
by crinklestein incan anyone confirm if their doctrin of the reserection has been changed?

Lately I have been hearing a lot about the thousand year reign and how the devil will not tempt people anymore. And froma few people I've heard that everybody will be there. So that pretty much cancels out a hundred years of witnessing since they will all come back anyways then we'll have A THOUSAND years to preach to them. Any way you put it it's pretty pointless.
