There is nothing to fear from ID except the political and religious connotations of it. There is no science in it at all. It will be damaging to the future of scientific progression if the consensus of people feel that this field of theology is reputable science. Hard to estimate the damage that can do.

funny how slight ignorance justifies make believe. The flying spaghetti monster crap out universes every one of his mystical days and we happen to be one of em. Sticks and stones can't create the universe, only logical answer is the flying spaghetti monster.

Do you find the bible boring?
by ChrisVance ini was raised as a dub, and i suppose when i was quite young i found some of the bible stories interesting.
however, the older i got the more boring the bible seemed.
obviously, it had a lot to do with repetition.

The bible is highly tedious and boring to me. The publically acknowledged exciting books are spread apart by dry begats and tedious "he did, she did". It doesn't seem possibly to enjoy the bible unless you put a great amount of effort into enjoying it.

Who Wrote the New Testament? by Burton Mack
by ithinkisee insomeone mentioned this book in another thread (getbusyliving i think), so i checked it out from the library.. it is a decent enough book but was a little put off by the almost sarcastic/antagonistic tone throughout much of the book.
he throws around the word "myth" as much as the society throws around the word "truth".
even the title of the book "who wrote the new testament?

praying for mass destruction and death
by Cognitive_Dissident inso i was writing a paper the other day, specifically about the skewed world view that i had had as a witness, and i typed the following - .
pain, misery, strife, these were all things that used to prove to me that jehovah's witnesses were correct in their assessment of a dying world which was soon to be liberated/obliterated by the hand of god.
this "liberation" was something that i desperately longed for.

I think anewme is right in his assertions. If groups did not have the need to control the masses there wouldn't be as much focus on mass destruction and prostelyzation as it is now. But that's the way things are. A large amount of people love to depress themselves for some reason.

Do You Talk About Poltics Freely (In Real Life)?

When somebody else brings it up I'm totally ready to grab the reigns of my horse and starta ridin'. Because, politics these days aren't really factualy, but it's more, "How does this event change my view of so and so event or person". You can grab any assortment of evidence to support either way. Me personally I still have the JW cynicism about government for the most part.

I love all of the Dune series, especially the ones by the original Frank Hubert. My favorite sci fi movie has to be the first matrix, just because it was the first sci fi movie that made you think for a long while.

The only thing I've seen that slyly supports excommunication is the quotes from Paul where he speaks of not even eating with a person that claims to be christian and what not. And of course, that gives control groups the freedom to do whatever they want because the bible somewhat suggests that they do it. Even though the bible suggests that you should kill your children if they are dissobedient but hey they need more people to control so they don't add that one.
