Inactive ones - new light.
by unique1 ini didn't go to the district convention this year.
my mom however did and she sends out a daily text email every day.
she asked all members of the email group to share their favorite part of the convention.

I totally hated how they portrayed the inactive "brother" in the little skit they had about them. The dude was pretty much pure JW but just stopped going for no reason at all. That's not how all of them are. But anyways ya it was crap. And the drama *shivvers*.

Asembly drama
by lamb_neo inthose of you who have been to this year district conventions know that during the drama timothy's friend ionatan was telling him about their plans to go and study in athen.
i keep wondering how watchtower dares to say such lies.
where did they find this in the bible?

To give the JW's the benefit of a doubt, it is a Drama aka Dramatization. However, this does not change much. The rank in file believes everything the GB said is better than God himself. The drama was crap. It's pointless to use biblical characters other than to decieve. And hearing biblical characters use JW lingo was just hilarious. However, I can just imagine the backlash this will cause for the youths. Even my Great Christian Model Sister is going to college and plenty of other ones are going to. It's hard to keep kids in line when there's another kid across the street doing something their parents say they can't do, and it's even worse since the other kid is a witness too. They will always say, "But they're going to college" or just feel crappy for 20 years because they didn't go to college. Either way it's going to suck for somebody.

144,000 on The Simpsons
by sixsixsixtynine inin last nights episode of the simpsons, homer goes to see the movie "left below", and subsequently becomes obsessed with the rapture.
when they show an equation he's working on to determine when it will come, one of the numbers is 144,000!.
do any other religions besides the witnesses and adventists use that number?

I began to clap when I heard the simpsons say that about JWs. I litterally laughed for about a good 6 minutes. Never seen anybody else on tv have that audacity except Family guy when they were singing about Peter getting his new mansion and they sang the line, "We'll stop Jehovah's at your gate (not singing) can I see your pamphlet sir?" And then he slaps him with the pamphlet. I laugh every time i see that episode.

I'm somewhat skeptical of JW's not beleiving that the earth is 6000 years old. However, many of the kids never really talk about it but somewhat accept it. When shown dates of civilizations living prosperously and great in numbers not even close to where Adam and Eve were created close to the time that the earth was supposedly created, they somewhat accept it but never give a second thought to it. I think this will be the attitude of the general "hip" JW's in the future but I doubt the GB will change their mind on it, even if the babies now are the future GB members. It's a mindset no?

Going to hell... twice.
by Daunt ini just wanted to start this thread to vent out about how i'm being forced to go to the district assembly convention bullcrap twice all 3 days and to get a little advice on how to get out of it.
but mainly it would be interesting to know how other people got out of going to the meetings.
like acting sick, falling down and scraping your knee, different ways you got out of going to it.

Thanks a lot guys. It's very difficult for me to handle my parents being dissappointed in me. So every time I muster up the courage to turn them down they pull their little guilt trips (they have so many) and I just give in. It needs to stop soon but it's hard losing my family. They're the only folks I associate with outside of school. And I wish I had a partner in crime lol, it would have helped out a lot of times. But I might try to fake sick a day but I'm not promising anything. Soon I'm going to stand up but not yet. Thanks for all of your concern I'll try to keep my breakfast down during it. And tetra, my mom taped everything. I can prolly get it for ya.

It's just that my mom and sister wants me to "go out and meet people" more. So I'm being taken to the assembly again. Still a minor so saying no is a little hard.

The Dying (and Dumb) Awake magazine (Aug 8 '05)
by metatron inwell, yet another awake has arrived giving us all the chance to speculate that .
"jehovah's organization" may be getting "too stupid to live".. this month's jawdropper concerns the article "is astrology the key to your future?".
consider this negative appraisal of astrology:.

I don't know a witness that actually reads the awake. My family tries to force it on me but they don't even pick it up from the "library" anymore. It's really crap. The "information" on there is ignorant articles that you can find by clicking in a keyword in Google. And sheesh 10 percent is a pretty good track record for judging future events from stars.
